A video about your experience with your injury and the process of maintaining your health during that time and getting back into ballet would be not only fascinating but educational for a lot of ballet dancers. We don't talk about our injury experiences enough!
@darai62

Maria was wearing sunglasses after her injury. It’s very possible that she doesn’t want to disclose the specific nature of what happened because in ballet it may involve a partner? This of course would lead to the next question … “who was your partner when you were injured?” Time will pass and any pain and guilt will be replaced by success. Maybe then she will feel more comfortable discussing the specific nature of what kept her away from the stage?

As a disabled person who can barely walk to the end of the driveway without being in some kind of pain, I’m SO happy you are able to go back on stage, and look at everything in a new light, and have an even deeper appreciation for your art!!! I know how hard it is to be frustrated at your body for not being able to do something “normal” or even normal to you, and when your body fails you, it can be scary. Hopefully you never have to go through anything like that ever again! The dance was ✨gorgeous✨ and you are ✨stunning✨

Oh, wow, how lovely! I did feel like your performance was suffused with a deep joy and a different depth of emotion than we've seen before - it was just gorgeous. I'm so sorry that you had to experience so much pain and frustration to get to this point. From what you've shared, however, it does seem to have left you with new perspective on your art - perhaps that has been a gift after all.... My very best wishes for you that you continue to be injury free and stronger than ever.

I’m so glad that you’re back! However I have to share that I’m disturbed that the Mariinsky is still performing this piece by Ratmansky after they refuse to acknowledge him on the Mariinsky website or in the program. It’s like it’s a ghost choreographer! But we all know the brilliant artist who made this work for NYCB. I wish you well in your career, stay healthy and strong!

Adorable, Maria. Truly adorable. And your outfit today is all a statement. I left ballet in 2019, due to a spine injury, since then i've been dancing just for recreation. Now i'm stuck in a strange hip injury and i know ballet is not in the cards for me anymore -even for fun-. We never know how much we can miss stage -even if it's not Mariinsky-, till we can't do it anymore. Good luck, my girl.

Maria, I found out that injuries are teachers for us. They test our patience and also our focus and revaluation of our life. You go on an emotional roller coaster from frustration to become comfortable in the stillness. Being able to go back to stage and do what you love the most is the most wonderful feeling. I felt grateful to my body for allowed me to learn and love what I have now in my life.

The music along with the fluid motion of dancing feels almost like floating in space. I’m floored by all of the discipline and life long dedication it takes to do what you can do. It really inspires and motivates me in my own life and art. So yeah, keep making content. Your videos have a fun & approachable personality. Thanks for sharing these moments. You have great drive and focus, and expect the grieving process for the pain and injury to continue for a while longer. Yes, I would love to see videos of your injury and recovery process. It will help your viewers to understand the trials in your personal life and also continue to provide revenue for you, even as it limits the roles you are able to play. Keep fighting! Dear Masha! You danced beautifully! In the last time, you have been a deep source of inspiration and motivation for me. Yesterday, I attended one social occasion, which was opened by two rounds of performances by ballroom dancers from one of the dance school in my city. And as I watched, it deepely struck me when I realised how lucky I am to dance ballet. I have big respect for the dancers who performed as well as dancers of all other dance styles, but I have understood that ballet simply has such depth to it that no other dance style has. It is so deeply expresive, we perform to the most beautiful music and can give our audience so much more than just an esthetical experience - we tell stories, some with a very clear meaning, some from which everybody can take something different, for everybody's perception of what happenes in stage is different. I understood why I actually love ballet, it is because it speeks to the soul. I wish much luck with returning back to a full on professional life. God bless you!

Maria, it is wonderful to see you back doing what you love so much and what we love to see. I appreciate your artistry and willingness to share that with us. To answer your question about the types of videos I would like to see, I think both showing your dancing without commentary and also with your reaction would be ideal. Not so much your critique because most dancers are perfectionists and are never satisfied with their performances. Rather, it would be nice to hear your thoughts while you are dancing and what you are trying to express with the steps. You are a real joy and treasure. Thank you!

P.P.S. Absolutely beautiful performance. The music is heavenly. I watched it twice, and won’t be surprised if I watch it again...👏👏👏 I couldn’t perceive any sparkle in your costume; I think a small hint would have been nice, although the whole style & staging was very minimal and down to earth, so maybe better with different staging and styling. It would be beautiful to see this danced in mist or smoke, as if you all were dancing in the clouds! The ending was unique. I liked it. What a treat to watch your grace, and nice to see you feeling so serene, grateful and growing from your experiences. Thank you (and your team?) for making these ballet videos. I normally don’t watch ballet, but one of your RU-vid shorts caught my eye, and I’m hooked! I’ve been having a lot of health problems in the last 9 years, and videos like this help keep me inspired for my own healthier & stronger days, which I keep working towards. 🥰🥰🥰

Beautiful, my favourite music and very interesting to see another choreography to this. I understand how you must feel. I myself was injured when a young dancer but in those days 30 years ago there was not the understanding and care there is now so I never came back and it was heart breaking and took many years to get over, so I understand how grateful you feel to be able to move and express yourself again. Many blessings for your future
