LOVE the point about bringing the energy and not getting it back during remote. I hadn't thought about this-perhaps this explains how drained I am by 2:30, unlike a usual school day. Thanks!!
It's really hard. At the beginning it was new and challenging for them. But, its getting boring every day. And the students are exposed to an amazing virtual world. Who cares for maths or history. Students who are academicly good manage distant education but we lose the students with middle level. Certainly we add so many activities. For instance; When I ask a question, I want them to answer on chat part. Lots of games. Every day another game. With younger students sandwich day, sunglasses day, colour day, pet day. With older ones playing games like vampire villager. We need the eyes so cameras must be on. But it's definitinetly tough. I'm looking forward for ideas like so many other teachers from all over the world. Wish you the best.
I’ve been using Google Jamboard and Whiteboard.fi to increase student engagement. I’ve been teaching 100% virtual since the beginning of the year and will be for the foreseeable future. Thanks so much for posting video. It nice to hear from people in different states to hear what they are doing and how they are coping.
Engagement is really hard for some of my classes well. We are fully online since the middle of September. Their use of phones makes work hard to complete especially for computer classes. Their storage is full from other things and then Google docs/slides does not have all the features of Word and Excel. I have used puzzles amd live quizizz as ways to get them excited and engaged. Thanks for this vlog. Because I feel like I am not alone in this struggle. Your issues are so similar!
Yes it’s been rough this I am teaching 4th grade ...very challenging to get students to be motivated even more now than before this pandemic. Also hard looking into the computer for 3 or more hours...be safe thanks for sharing.. I was thinking about you a few weeks ago glad to see you...
Thanks so much for sharing! My kids are elementary schools aged - grades 1,2, and 5 and it is so challenging for them to work remotely! I feel for you!!!
