I’m back everyone! I recorded this series a while ago, but I’m finally able to bring it to you on the channel. I bought a wrecked but clean title Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, and I’m going to rebuild it using two parts cars. This is Part 1, so watch out for the next few episodes coming soon.
Have a BMW or other European car and need help diagnosing a check engine light? Get Carly using this link: bit.ly/3oegxR3
Not only will Carly become an invaluable tool to help you keep your car running right, but by purchasing using my link, you'll be helping out the Crossroads Rebuild channel! You can also check out their new RU-vid channel: @straightsix.
Help me out and SUBSCRIBE!! The stats show me that a huge percentage of my viewers aren’t subscribed. So go ahead and click that subscribe button now and even consider clicking the bell so you get notified of new vids when they land. It would really help the RU-vid algorithm (and I’d consider it a personal favor)!
If this is your first time watching one of my projects, thank you! I encourage you to subscribe to the channel and click the post notifications bell so you’ll be notified each time I upload a video. If you like what you watched, I’d appreciate a like on the video! That would really help me out.
Stay tuned for more videos coming soon! I’ve got another video or two on some mods and finishing touches to the F150, finishing up the rebuild on the Mercedes W211 E320, continuing the rebuild of the BMW 335is convertible, and several new projects. I also have more salvage rebuild projects coming soon as well!

Glad to hear that you are ok. Missed your videos. I think you should do the full interior swap.

Starting to sense a theme… people are voting for the interior swap. Oh boy! Y’all wanna see me work! Lol

I would put the really nice interior but leave the seatbelts and wheel because it still matches

Very happy to see you back! I would do the 100% swap, more work but you have it and its nicer. I like using higher model parts on my XLT F150.

Welcome back I’m also vote for interior swap with the nicer package and I’m not 💯% on the airbag system but most likely the person wasn’t wearing the seatbelt or the car was parked when it got in the accident keep up the great work and looking forward for more videos

I had bought a 2010 Focus from Copart that got smacked left to right and had the Airbag light on but no bags were blown. All it was was like you showed, the plug had came unplugged from the crash sensor in the crash. You would think the airbag would go off 🤷🏻‍♂️ Also, try an ozone generator first on the interior of the smoker car. Might save you a lot of headache.
@CrossroadsRebuild
@CrossroadsRebuild 2 года назад
Yes sir! I have an ozone machine. Those things work wonders! Just don’t over do it or it’ll create a whole different smell. Lol

Welcome back. Really missed the videos. I’d swap the interior from the other red car. It looks in much better condition and changing everything gives you a better chance of getting the cigarette smell out. Can’t wait for the next update 👍🏻

@@CrossroadsRebuild The hard work will pay off in the end. Plus it will be easier to remove the headliner when you change the windscreen. If you haven’t already. Can’t wait for the next video.
@CrossroadsRebuild
@CrossroadsRebuild 2 года назад
That would’ve been a good idea! Unfortunately, I made these videos a while back and the windshield has already been replaced. That was the best time to do it and I didn’t even think of it. Not even sure how I’d do it now. Hmm…

Wellcome back Sir!! I would use the interior from the red donor and swap the drivetrain from the white one since it has lower miles. Also, the srs system relies on accelerometers, so if the change in speed is not drastic enough, it wont deploy the airbags even if it brakes the sensor. This is clearly a low speed impact that hit a weak spot in the car (above the crash bar). Still, I think it would be appropriate if you took the car to an especialist and have the srs system checked. Looking forward for more videos!!

I don’t pretend to be an expert on airbag/crash functions, but I believe those sensors function as a portion of the overall system which takes into account a number of parameters, like speed, inertia, etc.
@CrossroadsRebuild
@CrossroadsRebuild 2 года назад
No doubt you’re right. Still seems strange to me though! Lol

Do the executive interior
@CrossroadsRebuild
@CrossroadsRebuild 2 года назад
This is a popular opinion! We shall see. 😉
@trbstang
@trbstang 2 года назад
That is strange about the disconnected sensor. In my Mustang, when it was totaled, I hit the center wall at about a 45 degree angle which swung me around perpendicular to the wall and I skidded along the wall until I stopped. And then, once I was stopped, the knee bag blew. Ended up finding out one of the sensor wires was pulled out of the connector. I'm guessing that I hit the wall at too low of a speed to immediately blow the bags, but skidding along the wall must have triggered the knee bag and seatbelt pretensioners, maybe when the wire pulled out. Just be thankful the dash bags didn't blow! Looks like a really good rebuild, especially with the clean title. Does it have anything on the Carfax? Mine is also still a clear title, but because insurance paid out on it, the "total loss payout" is on the record. Thus my car is only "worth" $10k as salvage! On the interior, of course the executive one looks nicer, but yeah, a lot of work. I'd probably take the donor car seat apart, and reassemble it using the AC/heater mechanicals and frame that work, but put the donor foam and cover on it, provided you can get them clean. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the rebuild!
@CrossroadsRebuild
@CrossroadsRebuild 2 года назад
Yeah, the Carfax shows the accident, but nothing about a total loss. Still trying to decide what to do on the interior. After a good detail it’s smelling a lot less repulsive! Lol

I know it's probably 2 months too late(since part 3 of the series - FINISHED was published) but .... ozone kills smell pretty good. So you could contact someone who has a machine for 'ozoning' AC in cars and it could help bad smells in the car.

Welcome back Steven great to see you back, regards the interior of the Lincoln I would be inclined to try and just give the one already in the car a thorough cleaning, odours get trapped in material I think you would be surprised what difference it’ll make scrubbing the carpet, headliner etc even if it takes a couple of times! Great video and greetings from s across the pond 🇬🇧

I think that the airbag's deployment is related to the speed of the car and speed deceleration on the moment of impact. Under certain "numbers" the airbag's dont "explode". (Sorry for some mispelling, english is not my primary language)
@CrossroadsRebuild
@CrossroadsRebuild 2 года назад
Thx! That’s a good theory. I don’t know how they program these things. Still seems strange to have that kind of damage and no airbag. But no complaint here!
