My advice to new investors: Buy good companies stocks and hold them as long as they are good companies. Just do this and ignore the forecasts and market views which are at best entertaining but completely useless.

The key to big returns is not big moving stocks. It's managing risk in relationship to reward. Having the correct size on and turning your edge as many times as necessary to reach your goal. That holds true from long term investing to day trading.

Yes, I've been in constant touch with a Financial Analyst for approximately 8 months. You know, these days it's really easy to buy into trending stocks, but the task is determining when to sell or keep. That's where my manager comes in, to help me with entry and exit points in the industries I'm engaged in. Can’t say I regret it, I’m 40% up in profits just in 5months with my initial capital of $160k

How can one find a verifiable financial planner? I would not mind looking up the professional that helped you. I will be retiring in two years and I might need some management on my much larger portfolio. Don't want to take any chances.

HUL is also good pick I guess, it is trading below 200DMA? Your views on it?

HUL is trading at a same price for over 5 years (2019 till date) With this same idea if u would hv bought HUL in 2019 or 2020, u would have struck with HUL for over 4-5 years with 0% returns, of course almost no one have that kind of patience in today's investing world Of course, I'm not saying HUL is bad stock or kind of it, I'm just saying it is all about the time we get into a stock, u might buy now thinking it will go up 20% or more, but it might go up 10%, fall back to ur buying price again & trade around that price for another 1-1½ years I repeat, timing is definitely matters in market, i don't believe in "Time in the market beats timing the market", coz it is subjective as it differs from person to person in this investing world

@@lakshnaramesh9733 yes that is my point, currently stock is below its 200DMA and if you check it, you can see it is better to buy stock when below 200DMA and sell after it is above 200DMA. It is just one of the swing strategy and generally works well with such stocks like HUL. I asked this question just to know what others think about it. I totally agree with your opinion, and so I just use this stock for short term profits as I believe it is better to get 10% profit on large caps with high investment than to go with 20% profits in small/mid caps with small capital

Almost 95% of small & mid caps have shot up crazily More than 75% of the small & mid caps r over valued at this moment Shot up 200% to 2000% in 1 to 2 years, now just shredded 20% of their gains, which doesn't make them attractive, of course, there r few companies which didn't perform well during bull run of small & mid caps & still underperforming despite good quarters, those r the stocks which one should consider for short to medium term

Shashank what do u think IIFL FINANCE... I thought massive selling has already done by big player. Arround 50% correction in good fundamentals company so I planning to ho for 50% capital in this for atleast 1 yrs. Expecting 100% gain ( stock back to all time high) What is your view on this? to be safe, add it to your watchlist and when the price reaches around 350-370 then you can say the momentum is here, then you can plan buying i guess because we cannot say when rbi would revoke the ban

this stratgy has the flaw of incurring huge opportunity cost .....or cost of missed opportunities .... the idea of investing is to make money hence MF in comparision will make more money .....in the market the rate of growth of a franchise and making money has a direct co relation . A balanced portfolio incluing all segments of market cap is a more practical.....overtly defensive ....but i must admit english is good

@@ShashankUdupa1 Definitely Jio Finance can't affect Bajaj Finance's business significantly Bajaj Finance is a leader for over 3-4 decades in this industry, many players have entered this industry, but still Bajaj Finance stood it's dominance in this for decades Jio Finance can capture market from other players like IIFL, Paytm, Cholamandalam Finance, Shriram Finance, Muthoot Finance, Sundaram Finance, but not significantly from Bajaj Finance for sure (My POV)
