Our family went to our very first Canal Mule-Pulled Boat Ride. I had no idea what this place was all about and I knew was that I had to know. In the 1800s, people and cargo would be transported down canals such as this one in boats. What made this very interesting was the boat was pulled by mules. Mules are known to be strong and also live 2 times longer than horses. Come join us as view this historical canal for the first time. This attraction is very close to Starved Rock.

We can't believe you got there in time and you were lucky! That's nice that Matthew gave you some great information about this. It's really beautiful there and we can't believe boats were pulled such a long distance. We love when you guys talk to other people enjoying the adventure too! Good to know that mules have a longer life span than horses. What a great experience with your family and we're so glad you were able to take us with you!! Matthew is a guy who may not be loud but you can totally hear his passion for history. So glad he gave us time to chat with us. My wife teases me that I'm always talking to strangers, I have done that even before RU-vid. But cool that I can record them on these videos (with their permission of course). As the viewers are learning something new, we are learning something new ourselves. Thanks for joining us!!!! Have a great weekend!!!

Thank you so much. The guy who spoke was actually the guy who helps the mules - he just most of this stuff from his own knowledge. Glad he agreed to a little interview. I didn't want to overdo the drone shots, but with this comment, I might start making it a little longer. Appreciate you watching.

I truly did get lucky. My plan was to get there 1 hour early. But I didn't realize it was further than I thought. And then Baby Rosalie crying for McDonald's. And then the Cop, not a good mix. When I saw the sign, I thought it was a little canoe with a mule pulling it. I was amazed after I saw how big that boat was.

Were you flying the drone while you were on the boat? That teacher was funny. So true that family members do tend to complain about these trips upfront. Rosalie is not scared of the mule. That's awesome.

After getting pulled over by the cop, I thought the universe didn't want us to go there since it was our 3rd time (and the place is 2 hours away from our place). I got lucky it was only a warning. Yes, we were all tired by the time we got there. Poor Baby Rosalie had to run her little legs to make it on time. But since we were sitting, it was a relaxing boat ride. Michael was a very passionate person who knew his job really well. Thanks for watching guys.

Matthew was the mule attendant. And I talked to him after the tour - and the stuff he told me was not what he talked about when he was introducing the mule - felt like I had the inside scoop. Yea, in the conversation I usually tell tell the folks that I have a RU-vid channel and see if they could give a background. And it's amazing when a good number of these business use our video as a promotional vehicle on their Facebook page. You give me way too much credit, other then figuring out where we are going to next, is pretty much all the prep work that I do. I try not to look up too much information so I like to get an honest reaction for myself. I then pull out my phone for a few key facts as I provide a tour. And then in post production, I try to put humpty dumpty back together again - which I find fun. What is the overarching story line, do voice overs for things that I missed. I didn't really vlog at the boat because everyone was really quiet and concentrating and I didn't want to disturb folks. My strategy is probably so much more work than I should be doing. Maybe 2021 I do a content calendar, research the place before hand, have bullet points, and batch the content together - that's what the experts say as can see - no expert here:)
