Going there in July with a group. 3 women were murdered in the St Louis Canyon and their bodies placed in one of those small caves. I think that was back in the 60s.
That was the first thing the camp host said to me. Shame that something that happened almost 60 years ago still hold so much weight in a location that has hundreds of years of human history.
I am from Chicago,IL and have seen all the waterfalls in IL. Starved Rock is def the most popular , hence why I dislike going in any season lol The reason it's so populated in IL is because it's also the closest to the city of Chicago and it's where everyone goes. However, the most beautiful waterfalls are in the Shawnee National Forest, down in southern IL. Try checking Jackson Falls, Burden Falls (tallest waterfall in IL) and Borks Falls, all in the Shawnee. My favorite campgrounds near those are RedBud Campground and there is free camping near Jackson Falls as well. There is also Ferne Clyff but that's more populated. Def check those out, much better in my opinion than Starved Rock,. Love ur videos, I depend on them for my journey to Wisconsins waterfalls :)
@SconnyWandering yea, most falls in IL are only on during rainy season. We go around April and May , that's when it rains the most and u can find them fully on.
