(Watch on x2 or x1.5 speed) Honest reflection on my residency journey, these are a bunch of tips I would give my younger self. Conan Liu, MD's Channel: / @conanliumd @ConanLiuMD
So many of these medical school channels get so bombastic and goofy, but you seem genuine, and I honestly am proud to have watched your process. Good job, Doc. And yea, it was Andy.
As someone who's been a silent watcher for a while, just want to comment and say that I'm proud of everything you've achieved and that you are a great inspiration for me. I'm a current SGU student and will be applying to match next year. Thank you and don't lose the humor :)
Hey thank you so much for letting me know. thats so awesome. I know how writing a comment can feel weird, so thanks for saying something. stay strong during the match, keep me updated. good luck
thank you so much. I wish you the exact same. hope things are better now

@@SeanDarmal in medical school they are always barking at us to be professional and all be type A people. reality is we have emotions. we are human beings. its hard. its really hard. and i feel like medicine has destroyed my spirit completely, and if i knew how much this job was going to suck the soul and happiness away from me i would have not gone into this field. but i am here and need to make the best of it. please keep posting your videos. you inspire me and a lot of students. God bless
Another bangin video! I’ve been watching since 2019 when I was in undergrad and you’ve always been such an inspiration. Love how honest and down to earth you are. I’m about to start my 3rd year rotations now, and this is just the kinda video I needed to get hyped for the journey. Thank you for making videos…they’ve helped me so much. Glad to see you’re doing well and congrats on making it to this finish line. Wishing you great success on your next chapter!
duddeee thank you so much for telling me this. This message means the world to me. I always wonder if i am actually helping people or i am just yapping. So thank you man. Dude stay strong in 3rd year, its so tough, i wasnt having fun at all. but it will be over before you know it. i wish you the best all the way through homie. check in in a bit a give me the updates
congrats man! I've been watching your vids since your SGU days. What stood out to be at the time was how honest and transparent you were so I kept following your channel. I graduated from my OB/GYN residency last week, and everything you said here resonated with me, especially wishing that you knew you were in the good old days before you left them. Finishing residency evokes such a crazy mixture of emotions, I have such difficulty describing it to people not in medicine.
WOWWW, congratulations to you too. thats huge. Thank you for agreeing with me. I thought i was crazy how sad I was that this journey was over... but I guess we gotta move on some time :/ . I wish you the best as an attending. congratulations
I've always looked forward to your videos cause you are always so genuine and relatable. I finally start my internal medicine residency this year and I'm excited to go in and follow your advice. Thanks for sharing your journey with us and all the best with your exciting future ahead!
My friend, i wish you the best of luck, stay strong, do whatever you have to do to survive for the first 6 months. and make sure you have the structure/skeleton of a patient presentation memorized and burned into your brain, you still got a few days to practice just in case. I wish you best of luck homie. reach out if you need anything
Thanks for the tips I really appreciate it! Just had my white coat ceremony today for family med residency! I start with OB on Monday so I'm gonna need all the best wishes! lol thanks again for sharing your tips and hope you kill those boards and enjoy your new job! Congratulations!!
I am giving you the biggest best wishes ever, you made it so far already. congratulations. stay strong and let me know how things go. Wish you the best
wow, how fast time flies, watching your videos since you were on the island, congratulations. This July 1st will be 38 years since starting my residency in Family Medicine, I certainly attest that you will be 50 with back pain before you know it😄
Hahaha see its soo true. my back pain came a little early. Wow 38 years, amazing. I hope they were happy years. thank you for checking in, it means a lot to me
I remember all of us watching your what to pack to greneda video before moving out there for med school during Covid to seeing your videos now!! You inspire all of us. Congratulations!!!
Welcome back and Congratulations Sean! Been watching your vids for a while now and as an Incoming Internal Medicine Intern (also in Vegas) thank you for all the tips and Ill take all your advise to heart!
Hey thank for checking in again. congratulations!!! did you get into UNLV? stay strong my friend. I hope these videos help. Dont forget, watch every video that Conan Liu MD makes. they will help you more than anyone else. I would even have a book of notes or new page on your ipad of notes (for screenshots ) for his videos.
Wassup cousin!! So happy to see and hear about your success. The time has escaped me because I swear, the last video of yours that I saw was the one in your intern year! Kept thinking, “When’s he gonna drop another one, he’s due for it haha.” I’m applying to the match this upcoming cycle. And honestly, it’s so heartwarming to see how far we’ve all come. (Job ain’t finished, but I agree with you about appreciating the moment.) Keep trekking brother. Don’t forget the vids. I know you still got juice in you, especially after correcting the quote from Andy Bernard hahaha
hahaha this is the best message ive ever received. thank you cousin. so much. real OG over here. Bro best of luck with applications, dont forget to drop an application to my hospital. what you thinking to apply to? and same to you man, keep going. I wont forget the videos man. WE still got the juice
@@SeanDarmal going for psych inshallah. I looked em up, but I think y'all have everything except for psych. Definitely looks like a great, hospitable program - so, who knows haha!
Aye the legend is back! Bro, I remember commenting on one of your earlier videos about MCAT or Carribean med school more than 2 years ago. During that time I was still very hesitant about applying to carribean med school and in a mentally bad place... BUT now I'm currently in the middle of clinical rotations back in east coast; crazy how time flies so fast. Like the rest of your audience, you've helped me keep going strong on my medical journey and I'm so happy for your accomplishment. I know you gonna kill the boards and become an awesome attending!
This message means the world to me man. Thank you for keeping me in the loop. I am happy I made a small difference man. you remind me why i started making videos in the first place, so thank you so much. I wish you the best of luck man. stay strong during clinical rotations, those were lame. but keep going. check in later on, let me know the updates.
Heck yes. thats awesome, you made it through first year, you will make it all the way, no doubt. keep up the good work my friend. check in at a later time, keep me updated with progress.
