Great driving skills. As all the great airline aviators say, even though I’m on an extended leave, as in possibly forever, “an inch is as good as a mile as long as you don’t hit anything.” Well, you didn’t run over anything, so you pass. I love farming, and you remind me of why. It was a group watch, and we’re all commenting right now. You make my kids so darn happy Kate. Even children in farming families usually aren’t farm kids nowadays, and you are a true blue farm kid turned young woman, collegiate and future leader in agriculture. If you so choose, I mean astronaut, ace pilot and basic all around great person are cool too. A friendly reminder, you can farm and have an aviation career. For me as an oldish timer, the thrill is how slow I can fly the super Cub, not so much how fast I can turn, but the kids like to do Aileron and Barrel rolls, steep banked turns, stalls, which I don’t mind supervising them on such procedures, it’s a good skill set to have for them. Believe it or not, our 152 is actually rated for, and can take as many g’s as anyone would ever want to do without a g suit and a lot of training on breathing through a hard maneuver. AMERICA REAGAN: My dad took me up in a c90 king air and I was flying 250 and did final with a literal Southwest 737 and I said gods speed herb wherever u r on the radio and they rocked their wings at me. Herb was famous at Southwest. I’m practically crying right now cuz it was so special. Mary Kate has decided to kiss the TV, that will be fun to clean up, and all the other kids are jumping on the furniture. Thank you for all your hard work. It’s always a great night when you put out a video.

That's really a great video Kate! So much fun to see you drive this robot equipment! That was amazing! Funny to see that picture of the turtle on the screen, it looks the same as with the John Deere Combine. When I watched part one last week I wondered why the robot runs on diesel engines and is not electric, but I can imagine that charging in a very large remote field can be difficult. Last week you replied in my comment that you also looked up your original family farm in Denmark, that's so great Kate! That must have been special to see it in real life. Maybe you had already seen pictures of it before you went to Denmark? I hope you will make a video of the farm too! What an experience to travel so far at the age of eighteen. When I was eighteen I also made a big trip for the first time (but maybe you have traveled before?). However, I have never been outside Europe. I'm quite homesick, so I haven't gone on holiday for many years. I'm getting really sick when I can't stay at home. It has happened that I couldn't even drive a car because of the pain. Really nice that you make your videos in Montana, Canada and Denmark. It's super fun to watch your videos, also because I don't travel anymore. I think it is also nice for you to watch the videos of Denmark, for sure you will have nice memories of your visit to Denmark! Bye bye Kate!

Last year in the east of germany a farmer plowed his straberry field. He said i cant get workers for the harvest, because they would cost more than i get for selling the strawberrys. The harvest being more expensive than selling it and no perspective, he destroyed the whole field. I guess such robots are the future of farming. Manual labor in farming is often very straining, long hours, in every weather, and the wages are not exactly high. About 20 ago i spoke to a farmer who farmed cucumbers and asparagus. The cucumbers were harvested by a rather strange vehicle. In the center a tractor, much smaller than what you are familiar with. It towed a vehicle. This vehicle is about 9 feet long, but maybe 60 feet wide on wheels. The workers are lying on their belly looking forward, very close to the ground. Basically one worker per row of plants. In front of them is a conveyor running towards the middle of the vehicle. Directly behind the tractor is a trailer where the conveyor transports towards. The workers pluck the cucumbers by hand and drop them onto the conveyor. There are crates on the trailer where the cucumbers are loaded into manually. The harvest is in the summer. There is a sun shade above the workers, however it is quite hot and you are on your belly the whole time. Your arms are stretched in front of you, you grab down to the ground to get a cucumber and lift it up onto the conveyor. Essentially you hold your arms horizontally all the time. The farmer told me she could not get any workers from germany, or if so they would disappear within the day. The workers all came from poland. Its seasonal work, hard work, hot/cold/wet work and the wages are rather low. So not a really attractive job. I guess this will be taken over by robots in the future. But who can afford these robots? I think all the small farms, here in germany we have rather small farms, nothing as big as in the USA. They will all disappear, because they cant fund this technology, and cant pay for the manual labor either. Who knows, when you are at the age of your dad you might run the operation with way less people than now but much more automation. You might sit in a remote control/operating room instead of a vehicle cabin. This is an ongoing process. How many people were busy with lets say harvesting any kind of grain 100 years ago? The next evolution of farming wont need another 100 years. You will be in the midst of it. I have no doubt you will get it done, though. Something else will change. All that manual labor often requires a lot of physical strength, which is on average more a male characteristic. The use of these new technologies will not need this. It will need skills not common in farming as of today. This will level the playing field towards equal rights for females in this industry.

The way that they make farming equipment today, big corporations (John Deer, Case, New Holland, ect.) make it very difficult to work on the machinery being computerized or mechanical. I guess your going to put Uncle Chris and Darcy out to pasture. Because there's no way Darcy is going be stuffed with D batteries an wear a safelight dish on his head while you are using a remote control unit to get him to work longer and faster Kate.
