A lot of ugly or uncool looking characters from that era lmao. Frank West, Niko Bellic, Marcus Phoenix. I love all of those characters, don't get me wrong.
I pre-ordered and spent $60 on this game. When I went to pick it up the guy behind the counter was like "Neverdead...? What's that?" I was the only one to pre-order the game at that store.
I think it was more the idea of making it a DMC-style hack-and-slash was what killed it. That's a style of gameplay that calls for mastery and style, and "you can fall apart into a pile of limbs at any moment" doesn't synergize with that. If anything, it creates this weird unstable equilibrium where you take one hit and that leads to you taking more damage. A good game would pull back on the combat and focus more on maximizing the potential of the dismemberment mechanic.
SlashingHades Probably one of the few bright spots of this turd. But if I wanted to hear Megadeth in a soundtrack, I’d watch Last Action Hero because that was way better than this.
Not before he gets kicked out of a band......sorry I’m one of the few people who kinda likes both but doesn’t care about their personal beefs, that’s on them doesn’t effect how much I like and don’t like their music, plus it’s easy jokes
Arcadia is voiced by Michelle Ruff, does alot of anime dubs and games, mainly known for Bleach's Rukia, Yokko Littner, Persona's Yukari, Crimson Viper, Sinon in SAo, currently Cream in Sonic, was Jill Valentine in the 2012 era of games, and Katherine in Catherine. (Speaking of Catherine, Laura Bailey is also in this as Nikki Summerfeild, because it's the early 2010's, she's in everything at this point)
Extrnal Sorce She's one of my favorite dub actresses, too. Her voice usually strikes a great balance between strong-willed authority and cheeky femininity.
Munishin Amazon, last i checked (when i bought myself a copy a few months ago lol) had several listings for $1 (plus like four or five bucks shipping, depending) I still have the receipt because of how shocking that was. And as for the speedruns, yeah as of right now there still aren’t any. a friend and I were planning on recording a “Blind Speedrun” just to get the world record first before anyone remembered this game existed, but then Matt started mentioning it in videos so it’s in public consciousness again. ...also neither of us wanted to break the seals on our $1 game...
The only thing I remember about this game was how on facebook there was a page promoting the game with the girl taking of her clothes. Like, the more "likes" you give to the page, the more she takes of her clothes and shows promotional pictures. Doubt they reached the mark considering how the game flop
@@timdupill9839 Im not big on sports but that sounds really desperate. Like I understand for this game to do this (albeit really questioning why they did it) but for a major sport business, it sounds asinine
@@readordiefanatic www.capsulecomputers.com.au/2011/05/neverdeads-arcadia-revealed-in-more-than-one-way-on-facebook/ There's a link about an article regarding the page. You won't find TnA though
I played this game several times and loved it, but it couldve been better, had some bugs where id just randomly explode but combat was fun and made for a quick thrill
What was with Japanese companies and horrible 3rd person shooters last gen? Konami had this, Koei Tecmo had Quantum Theory, Square-Enix had Mind Jack, and Capcom had Dark Void. Really, only Sega had any decent 3rd person shooters with Vanquish and Binary Domain. Still, at least they're worth a laugh.
They should remake this for the switch and let u use the Joy cons because the way he swings that sword u would think somebody on the switch is controlling him anyway
I remember thinking this game looked cool but, not picking it up until years later from a bargain bin. Brand new I would have been let down but, as a quick cheap game it was entertaining enough.
This is the first time I've ever actually seen any gameplay if this, only exposure I've ever gotten to this was seeing it all the time at wal mart atcfull price
Hah, I actually own this game! Bought it not long after release for less than a fiver or something silly. Played barely 20 mins and completely forgot about it until this vid. Sad thing is it could have been a great action game with just a bit more time in the oven (and overhauling some of the mechanics). It has an almost Suda51 vibe with how weird it all is. A Wha Happun on this could be interesting. It's clear from the jarring intro some bad stuff went down during development.
Only thing to take away from this game is that if you have a gaudy superior fop as a boss he WILL be hated. Its a great way to motivate the player to kill them.
I'm glad I played this when I was younger, since I was pretty much dumb and didn't have any specific taste in games. I just enjoyed watching the funny man lose his head and roll around in vents, then I eventually lost to a boss and gave up because he was too scary LMAO
I just finished watching Blade of the Immortal so I'm very into NeverDead's dismembering/re-membering mechanic. It's a shame that the failure of this IP will likely make revisiting this concept unlikely.
I disagree. I played through it three times off the bat. Once you start getting the perks and learn how to use them it's great. Some parts are frustrating early on but it gets better and perks roll over each playthrough. Pulling your limbs off and launching them to use as grenades is fun. Using your head to solve puzzles are fun and I hate puzzles.
This is why they say in game development never get precious about your ideas. Something that's cool on paper will sometimes be fucking annoying in practice, that's when you scrap it. Or you release neverdead.
Damn I was looking up " game where you can detach your head and throw it " lolll finally found it! Played this when i was a teen and needed to know what the name was. I even completed it and loved it loll
Holy krap ive only. Seen this game mentioned once for a the at the time deadpool game now im drunk thinking about that obscure ass game then i see a head rolling around to around this is the game i was wondering about crazy!
I can't ignore this, but why does the guy in the intro have a sword in the cutscene but then in gameplay has a bunch of guns. Did someone mess up because that is such a bad continuity error in a video game cutscene
I was just playing this on PS3 a few days ago. I think I like it but I'm not sure. Those assholes that eat your head whenever you get decapitated are so annoying. Lol i may finish it at some point.
