As a french girl dating a pinoy, I'm so grateful for you and your content Leah! I found your channel during the pandemic, when my boyfriend and I were going through long-distance and I didn't know when the Philippines would re-open again. I genuinely love the Philippines, its culture(s), its languages, ecosystems and people. I'm not into creating content on social media but in real life, I do talk about the Philippines all the time to my foreigner friends because I want them to know how amazing of a country and a culture it is. If I were a content creator I would probably be talking about the Philippines on social media too, with the exact same genuine intent to share what I love so much about it. Especially with tourism in the PH becoming such a big thing and most foreigners just go there for the beaches and island hoppings but end up not learning about the culture so much, I'm so passionate about promoting and preserving it. Which I think is exactly what you're doing here and I'm so grateful to you for that! I picked up more tagalog thanks to your content and I loved to see your parents' relationship and how they both adapted to each other's culture, it's an example for me and my boyfriend in the future as a french-filipino couple. As you said, it's all about the intentions behind the content. It's hard to trust social media nowadays and there's always a possibility that what you see is fake, but I think it's important to remember there are humans behind screen and trust that most of them are still kind and genuine people ❤

@@cyrusvalencia6593 That goes with any other content, not only pinoy related contents. Like Reaction videos, they put an exaggerated (shocked) picture of themselves in the thumbnail but when you watch their video, their facial expression did not change much from start to finish.
Exactly! No one is putting a gun to their heads and forcing them to click....and before anyone hates in me, I am Pinoy, born and raised in Pinas. A lot of Pinoys, methinks, are getting way to sensitive. What many are calling "Pinoy-baiting" is simply how capitalism works. It's that pesky "supply and demand" economic principle where people will supply what the market wants if there is a demand for it. Well, guess what, Pinoys are creating the demand by being social media hounds (may it be good or bad, doesn't matter one bit) and watch every Pinoy related video out there. It's not the content creators fault that the demand is there. People need to get a clue. The market, whatever market it may be, has been functioning this way for thousands of years.

This is my two cents about this culture. What I don't like about some channels run by foreigners who make content based on the PH is, that there is no growth to these channels. Like, ilang taon na yung channel nila, puro Filipino food reactions, reacting to this, reacting to that, first time doing this, doing that (well, at least the majority of their materials) ang ginagawa. Channels must grow and the creators must show some kind of maturity when making content. I also noticed that they already knew the formula when making titles, it must have the words Filipino, Filipina, or Philippines in their titles even though it doesn't seem to be necessary (I mean c'mom, I do get it, but why?). I was once a fan of these people until I realised I was watching the same thing over and over and I thought I had enough. I don't mean to spread hate by sharing my observations, just a disclaimer (knowing kung gaano ka-toxic tayong mga Filipino pagdating sa social media). BTW, I love your channel.
I understand your POV and I agree it's natural that we want new things from the creator but then he may not want to do something else , and that's why there are other channels :) and that's beautiful everyone can do what they want and u connect with the ones u enjoy most as u grow - personally I get bored if I always do the same so... hopefully you will like the next content I'll post :)
Thrilled ako 3 yrs ago nakita ko channel mo dahil nag-aaral ako ng French. Sabi ko perfect ‘to dahil you speak French, Tagalog and English. Para sa akin hindi ka nagpi-pinoy baiting. Times are changing. Marami nang foreign vloggers who don't get the numbers just because they make the Philippines their content. Hindi matic yun. Sa tindi ng competition, matira na lang matibay. Filipinos are learning to spot which ones are truly SINCERE and AUTHENTIC.

Filipinos helps with the algorithm because the only way to get noticed in youtube is though engagements for example liking and commenting and filipinos tend to engage in contents that's filipino related. I've seen so many good youtubers that don't get noticed or have a lot of views.

As long na may filipino blood on you i think you are filipina. Especially when people hear speaking tagalog. There’s alot of half breed filipino/filipina nowadays that they considered them being a filipino and proud to be a filipino and embrace the culture. Hey Leah, thanks for bringing up this topic that's a bit old but still relevant. Sometimes I play around with the idea of adding our flag to my video thumbnails and using cringeworthy titles 😉. In a platform like RU-vid, it's crucial to make the most of all the tools available, right? 🤣!!! However, I prefer to see my channel grow naturally, connecting with viewers who share my passions and interests. It's a bit challenging since I'm living abroad and dealing with financial struggles, but my integrity is important to me. I can't bear the thought of leeching on my fellow Pinoys, no matter how impressionable they may be, unlike some lazy RU-vidrs! By the way, don't you think it's about time we stop calling these individuals 'content creators'? They're not even lifting their fingers, for goodness' sake! Wishing you all the best!
Pinoy baiting has been known by many Pinoys for years now. But believe it or not it has an advantage especially with tourism. I have never heard of Siargao Island until I watched foreigners praising it. I thought Iloilo City was still an agricultural area until I watched a Canadian couple praising the hell out of it in an exaggerated way. So I went to these places and other places. One thing I noticed was most of the tourist/visitors are Pinoys. Filipinos are actually discovering their own country. This is clearly one advantage brought about by Pinoy baiting. Foreigners eating Jollibee and showing how much they "love" it is laughable. Pinoys know this. As far as you are concerned, you are authentic. I watch you all the time. I have never seen a French Pinoy before and you are a treat.

I usually think its stupid whenever someone says to me "You dont look Filipino"....i then ask them "what's a filipino look like then?". They usually cant answer me properly and usually if they do have an answer I can easily give them a rebuttal or an example of a filipino contrary to the description they tell me. Reality is we Filipinos are very diverse in looks.

I'm Pinoy and this obsession of Pinoys requiring constant validation is cringy. I don't even blame non-Filipino vloggers. Even when the vlogger started with something that has absolutely nothing to do with PI, Pinoys would swarm the channel with unsolicited suggestions like visit this place in the PI, listen to this Pinay singer, etc. etc. Pinoy baiting is real, but like they say there would be no chicken without the egg, or vise versa.

Sincere or not it is still a form of promoting the Philippines ikanga putting Philippines and Filipinos in the map. whether it’s the culture, food , places or its music it’s still letting other countries and or other race know. The main agenda is to attract views perks nalang making money out of it kaya nga at the end of every video the loader ask click and subscribe so they can continuously create content that people like. It’s no different when you watch a movie only you don’t shelves out money to view something your interested on viewing. Just like the saying goes no harm no foul since as a viewer you know what your getting into.

You are Filipino because, aside from your Filipino blood, you speak in Filipino and you have Filipino gestures, like the lips pointing. My Parents were also part Filipino and especially my Father, who looked more foreign. Looks do not make a Filipino less Filipino, especially if one not only by blood but by cultural immersion, just like you, having been immersed in the Filipino culture from childhood.
The rule is simple. "Pinoy baiting" is an accusation. First of all, those who give those negative comments are unfair. It's actually none of their business if some vloggers really do it. But you're not doing it understandably. Nobody forces anybody to watch contents of vlogs. If Filipinos love the contents, they would watch and subscribe. If not, they would try to find another vlogger to watch. Who cares about "Pinoy Baiting" ?

I have read before na Pinoy-baiting is a thing when Fil-Foreigns are, they said and I quote, "Pilipino lang kung convenient." I don't think that applies to you since you're still connected to your roots, you seem to have been raised to embrace Filipino culture, and you've gone back and forth to PH several times.
oh god so theres an actual name for this thing haha. ive noticed it too with India. alot of channels dedicate a good portion of their content to reacting to indian videos or bollywood movies.
Most Filipina tagalogs doesn’t talked about the Philippines and that makes the French Filipina ambassador of the Philippines on RU-vid and you’re more Filipina than Filipina tagalogs I know, keep doing what you’re doing and especially if you haven’t know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, now is the best time, seek the living God and you’ll find Him.
