This is track 1 from the 1972 album entitled "Mister Chairman I Nominate The Man Jesus". Lead by Reuben Lightfoot Written by Margaret Pleasant Douroux Recorded LIVE on May 26, 1972 at Faith Temple COGIC
This is an excellent song and recording for teaching young learners Gospel Music. I grew up singing this way back in the day 🤣. I can hear all the parts above the instruments. The Choir is clear. The lyrics are great. My kids are going to love this one.
I grew up at Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C. and this man played a large part in my growing up loving and singing. Through Ruben Lightfoot I learned to worship through music. Thanks to a Wonderful Man of God that had no problem sharing his gift!
I grew up in this church. Bishop Goldsberry, Sarah Jordan Powell, China Allen and so many others. And of course Ruben Lightfoot. Thanks for the great memories..
OMG so glad to see this. I was 14yrs old a member of Faith Temple when this trail blazing preaching awesome woman of God came and blessed us. Can't forget the late Reuben Lightfoot on the organ and signing this one.
I truly wish youtube was present back in the day! I loved and respected Bro. Lightfoot and I'm grateful I had the opportunity to be under his direction for a few years in the Central Ga State Choir and in a few particular recordings. When he died, I was touched and think of him and his amazing craft, often. Like other late and awesome directors I have been blessed to learn from (Mattie Moss Clark, Vincent Ott and Nathaniel Stroud), they MADE U OPEN UR MOUTH AND SANG (mic stuck in face) and they are gone too soon, but God loved them best.
Loving the Oldie-Goodies! We sang this in our youth choir, (at First South Main Baptist Church-Rev. R.E. Edwards Jr,-Houston, TX) when I was in my teens...I'm now 52...Hallelujah! Thanks for posting them! Keep em' coming! Blessings to you in Jesus name...Amen!!!! Sherrunda
Gospel Nostalgia Hello again. Do you have Billy Preston's " On the Lord's Side". I cant find it. Lyrics say: "on the Lord's side, I can make it through the storm on the Lord's side" also, "on the Lord's Side, I don't mind dying on the Lord's Side"....
☆ This song brings back joyous memories of hearing Evangelist Maria Gardner for my first time at Anderson Memorial Church of God in Christ, Detroit, Michigan. I also remember her " Pigs in the Parlor " book and Elder Reuben Lightfoot's " I'm Glad God Made Me". May God continue to bless and keep His Saints... " The memory of the just is blessed".
i thought about Mr. Lightfoot on today. he started training my voice at the age of 7 at a park district. i was having a moment so i looked for him and i found his voice. thank you
Does anyone remember my Mother,Evangelist Mildred Porter? She taught Sunday School then too. I was Pamela Porter back then. Many many great memories growing up at Faith Temple.
