I'm Going Back To College, Visiting UCF Campus In Orlando! Furniture Shopping For New Place 

The mattress is the most important part of the bed. Especially for those with back problems. My husband has AS and his mattress needs can change nightly. We have a Sleep Number bed (20 years and counting). Ours is king size. We can each set our own side for our own comfort. Easily done, has a remote. Set which side, pick your number and the included pump sets it. Couple of minutes. From quite hard to soft. Can get a poofy topper so you can have a soft hard bed. Doesn’t deflate if you lose power. Filled with air it doesn’t leak like water beds. Regular sheets. We just have the original basic one, so many more now. No matter what we need on a given night we can both be comfortable. We’re house hunting too, when we find it, we will get a new one for us & use this one in the guest room. Guests comfortable. They bring it and set it up. Just gotta go to a Sleep Number Bed store to see them. Only sold there or on line, but sitting on one in person is my suggestion. Good warranty. Never needed it. Sleeping comfortably is important. And 2 people can easily need 2 different firmness’s. Tho changing to one for those times when you plan to meet in the middle is a plus. 🤭 Oh we are both 72. Married over 50 years. We’ve had quite a few mattresses. But for one that lasts over 20 years a few thousand is not so much. The ‘bed’ you can change easily, the mattress not so much.

Don't know if they have them in Florida, but an Amish furniture store is the ticket. Beautiful and very sturdy, real wood. Pricier, but worth it👍

The bed you want is called a platform bed. And if you want a memory foam mattress, there are so many bed in a box companies you can choose from now.

Community college to start if you want to get the first two years of college done, that helped wonders for me

My son is graduating this week, but going to put off college for a couple years, because he is going to serve a mission for our church. Then he wants to go to Washington State University. I went to a community college, but really enjoyed my time there. Furniture shopping was fun! If you are going to shop for furniture that lasts a long time, you may want to keep Casey in mind, since you two will be together forever, I hope. That furniture may go with you when you finally get married and move in together.

I know this is not as exciting as the furniture stores but my daughter and her husband have bought 3 couches from Costco and they are the finest quality and chic!!! Who would have thought it? Highly highly reccomend.

Pro tip-I would not invest into expensive furniture until your in your own home. Moving (esp. apartment moving) is brutal on furniture, even solid wood furniture.

This was so cute! I went to a community college on the track for fashion design but dropped out because of the core classes. Now I work at a bridal boutique styling brides, repairing wedding gowns, and running their social media pages while designing and traveling in my free time. I never regret being a dropout. 💙💀💙

UCF! Graduated December of 1999! The campus was nothing like this! We had just started getting parking garages and the Student Union was brand new!! Amazing school. It's nice to see the growth!

In my work experience, I find it’s all about the connections you make, having a positive attitude, and taking initiative. Your degree can get you plugged in somewhere, but networking and making a name for yourself are key. That’ll get you ahead. Gig ‘em, Aggies! 👍🏻

Trade school for sure , for our kids . My wife paid 7,500 for her cosmetology license and she works at a high end salon and makes 80,000 / 100,000 a year depending on how thick the season is . We have friends who are teachers that spent tons of money in schooling , and make 50,000 k a year with a crap ton of student loan debt .. and her salon provides benefits and retirement plan options … I’m a tradesman myself fortunate enough my schooling was paid through work

We got our mattress from Costco and love it! And it was a fraction of the price from where were looking at! It’s the sealy one they sell in store! They run sales on it as well!

I graduated from Stockton University in New Jersey …. We had a Chick-fil-A so I got that for lunch sometime. I am a software developer and work from home … I watch you videos at lunch …. I got my living room furniture at pottery barn …. I Love it very comfortable….. I got the PB basic sectional… the slipcovers come off and you can wash them if you are messy… I got my slipcovers in white twill but they have a lots of fabrics to choose from

I received a bachelor's degree in accounting from University of Colorado-Denver in 1985 and an MBA from Regis University, in Denver, in 2001. All 5 of my daughters attended 4-year universities. My youngest daughter just graduated from University of Tampa in May 2023. Two of my daughters went on to receive graduate degrees and our recent grad will begin a master of public health graduate program in the Fall of 2023.

For your history classes, check into a local community college! They should have non-credit history classes that are only a few weeks long for fun! A good way to keep learning without a full college commitment.

Dont shy away from Ikea for your couches, i have the kivik and the uppland, both models are super comfortable especially the uppland. You can machine wash all the cover , it is a must! They have a 10 years warranty

When you find what you want at the store, have them print you out a quote. Then take that to another store and show them and they will usually beat it. Have them print you out a quote. Do they a couple times and then take it back to original store and they will usually beat that. There is like a 400% mark up on furniture. We saved almost $2000 on $5000 living room set.

You’ve also said you want a dog, possibly a golden. Keep that in mind when you buy furniture. If you have pets or a dog that sheds a lot, I highly suggest a couch with washable slipcovers.

Think of all the time you spend in bed. You spend more time in bed than on a couch. Think of things that way. Avoid back problems get a good mattress. Furnitire is expensive. But some folks spend less and when they move just buy new. Depends on what you are thinking. If you and Casey eventually cohabitate you would combine her furniture too.

West elm is where we got our bed frame. Ordered completely online w/ delivery folks putting it together. Love!

I went to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Greensboro, NC -- I majored in Marketing and I absolutely LOVED my college experience!!!

Go quality for the pieces you know you like and want to last for years. Other pieces you just want to fit your apartment maybe get temp pieces until you buy a home when you will want to get more quality.

I went to Fresno State. My roommate married Derek Carr. It was a great experience, loved how big sports was at our college.

I graduated Murray State in West KY for both my Bachelors and Masters degrees in music ed. I'm beginning my 30th year as a music teacher in August! My son also graduated in December from there. He starts the Mannes School of Music in New York for his Masters in composition in August.

Like someone else suggested… try to find an Amish made store. It’s more pricey but the quality is second to none. You may have to skip a cruise or two but your every day comfort would make it worth while.

Do you want forever furniture ? Apartment furniture doesnt always go to house furniture. You may want new for your house.

I graduated from Salem State College with a BA in Music in 2008. I definitely miss it but I also regret not spending more weekends there to experience more of the college life. But overall I really enjoyed college.

Remember that you get what you pay for. Furniture is an investment just like your home, find what makes you happy, comfortable & grateful to come home to everyday.

I go to Samford University and will be a junior this fall and love it there. I shop at Potter Barn and Restoration Hardware for furniture.

Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Degree in education. Loved college life! Immediately after graduation, went into nursing school. Just retired after 40 years as an RN. Casey, I also get that weird sick feeling going back into my hospital. It helps that I don't have to clock in...haha😋

My husband and I have a purple 3 and it is heavenly. It gives like tempurpedic but it also has a spring back kinda feel, it stays cool, and the sheets are fantastic! Be prepared, that mattress bag is SUPER heavy.

Select Comfort air bed with a memory foam topper. You control how soft or firm it is. I love it and, we could put it in any frame we wanted. It's the best!

My son graduates in 2025 and is going to a trade school. He’s wants to do welding or be an electrician. I think trades are so important!!!!

I went to Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (across from St. Louis, MO) for both of my Bachelors degrees. First one was in Business Management, then years later I went back for a degree in Geography.

I grew up right outside UCF and always had dreams of attending. I had been to a few football games and met up with friends there but the closest I made it to going there was delivering pizzas on campus from the Papa Johns on Alafaya. Incredibly excited for you and wishing you the best!!

Kyle! If you purchase an expensive sofa, please don’t do it to dye it! There are all sorts of sofas out there in the color you like most! IKEA has very trendy furniture and Wayfair has all sorts of cool items. Bought 2 chairs and a half in navy blue and they are super! On sale for 345.00! Also Amazon has good stuff! Both Amazon and Wayfair offer plans for you to purchase so workmen will come and put everything together properly. Happy furniture hunting! Really fun and interesting! 😊

OMG I just came back from there! My daughter will be attending starting this summer and we were just there for orientation Monday and Tuesday. She'll be going to Rosen for Entertainment Management! It's a great school! Go Knights!!!

My husband got his AA in Biology and then joined the Electrical Apprenticeship, a 5 year apprenticeship :) He get paid pretty well while he works and learns, where he would’ve needed an incredibly expensive PhD to do almost anything he wanted in science. It has really worked out well. I got my BA in English Literature and work in communications and marketing lol.

Go to thrift store, secondhand store and get the basic bed frame. Measure well. Then get a super nice mattress set with a decent memory foam style 'topper'. And new fitted sheets, and a puppy.

I went to UNC Charlotte and graduated with a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. I loved my time in college and made some amazing memories with some great friends. The workload was rough but it was all worth it in the end. Go Niners!

Was cool seeing this tour. I nearly went to UCF bc I wanted to study Tourism and work at Disney. Ended up going to The College of Charleston (still studied HTMT and Business) because it was closer to home. Still did the CP and ended up working for Disney in Marketing for a bit, but came back to Charleston. I visit my old campus all the time. Always a mind trip.

Ikea is a good one especially if you're just starting in your own apartment and you can save a little bit of money. Until you get your first real permanent place have fun shopping

My oldest doing Phoenix online for college, my middle child leaves next month to the Navy and my youngest wants to join the Marines in 2 years. They are Air Force brats so this doesn’t surprise me. Excited to see where my younger two end up in the future. They can be overseas like we were for years or state side. My middle child the one leaving for the Navy will be a ship navigator (quarter master). She will be the one telling officers where to take the ship.

Loved the breakfast place the food really looked great👍. Just do some measurements for your couch. Everything seems bigger when you get it home. Even in the bedroom if your going to have a king bed make sure you have room for a nightstand. Tempur-Pedic beds always seem to be warmer. Especially if there's two people in it.If you tend to get warm at night you might want to go with a pillow top.

Discounts- ask for them. Don’t pay the published pricing. Especially when purchasing multiple items from the same store. Most places will also waive or discount the delivery charge.

I have degrees from 3 schools. Two in person one online. Graduated from Jones County Junior College in 2016. Graduated from Mississippi State in 2018. Loved college. College sporting events and just college life in general are a blast at bigger schools. Graduated in 2021 from an online program with Texas Tech. Love them too but it’s a different experience.

I have a sleep number bed, and I wouldn’t change it for the world they last forever.

My son started community college during the shut down. They were horrible about helping. They expected too much when they couldnt go into an actual class... so he joined the USMC and is doing great. He says he will go back to school at some point. He's 22.

But later on I took an online program to be a wedding planner/ coordinator and did that for almost three years. Soooooo FUN

I have a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri. I loved my college times. It was the first time I lived away from home and had to make new friends. I had so much fun doing all the college stuff. Some of the best years of my life! And you may think you aren't using your marketing degree but you are marketing yourself every time you put out a video. You may have not worked directly in the industry but you are using the skills and knowledge you learned.

The campus you guys are on is huge. My goodness.

Micro fiber couch is easy to clean. Awesome vlog! Fabric headboards are pretty but hard to clean (dust etc.) Furniture stores are tough. I suggest nice and reasonably price furniture for now. That’s my Mom/big sis advice 🥰🤣

Just a couple notes: My wife and I have bought a couch from Ashley, and we didn't feel it lasted. We ultimately paid more from a local store to us. Not sure if you can find it down there, but the brand Flexsteel has been a winner for us. As far as mattresses, we use a regional company called Verlo. I don't have their mattress, but for a pillow I use a company called Layla, and I love their pillows.

I have not had good furniture buys from Ashley furniture. My couches have pilled and the couches don't stay comfortable.

West Chester State College class of '81. It's a university now in PA. Elementary Ed major and Music minor. Great college experience because of band. Still playing with the band! Second Time Arounders out of St. Pete.

The furniture seems so expensive to me but you spend as much on a few cruises as you would spend on furniture so it is all relative. My son was a server when he was in college. Years later we went back to the restaurant and he knew the server. She asked him if he is still waiting tables and he said no. After she walked away, I said you should have told her you are an attorney now. He said “But she is still working here.” He didn’t want her to feel bad because he had come so far and she hadn’t advanced at all.

If you can splurge and find a place that has amish furniture, or Havertys . It’s more expensive than places like Ashley , Rooms to go , or Kane’s but their quality and service are on point 👌

I went to UW-Whitewater in Wisconsin! Go Warhawks! I had some good times, but some interesting (bad) roommates my first year there. I loved going football games and my campus organization, Cru!!

Casper is a great bed! Good quality and the warranty is great! They also have stores in different malls and they let you take a nap in the bed! Good video idea!

My fiancé and I both went to Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach, SC. We are both from NJ and met during our “freshman week” in college. I majored in Recreation and Sport Management. He majored in Professional Golf Management and switched to Business Administration. Both of us have jobs now that have nothing to do with our major.
