Hey Flamm I’d like to say I know how you feel.I was the first Australian to have both my eyes taken out of my head due to severe colour blindness and blur. They patched me up and fixed me but I was blind for 3 years after surgery and had double vision for another 2 years. It sucks mate and I hope your condition gets better. This should not happen to someone like you.

@@bonbonbox6347 in some countries however i did not know blindness could be a reason (i dont think it is either, should search). there are some very strict rules about it
At age 22 I went legally blind due to several cysts in my brain. I regained parts of my sight, that's why I'm able to write this comment, but I'm still not allowed to drive a car etc. I feel you and I wish you all the best!
I feel you. I have an eye condition called Nystagmus, which is an uncontrolled horizontal eye movement that make it hard for me to focus on things. I can't drive either. And I think it's getting worse over time. But I don't really care anymore and I'm trying to live my life to the fullest. God bless you and the guy in the video. You're not alone. It's gonna be Okay. Hey man you should look into Gene Therapy, it’s where you can save healthy retinal cells. It’s being looked at in London and across Europe. Hope this can help in anyway and good luck for the future man I’ll always be watching and complete blindness is uncommon. Stay positive bro
I just lost the girl who I called the love of my life. I treated her poorly, and didnt appreciate her until she was gone. I thought of taking my life because I saw no future ahead of me and I felt weak. This video not only resonated with me tremendously, it encouraged me to push past the fears of the inevitable. When you will go blind, remember us, when you're on the verge of giving up think about all the other people completely blind, think about all the people wishing you best of luck, you may be blind, but that doesn't mean you can't experience your life to the fullest, be happy, that's the most important part, this may be lost in the deep comments, and not see it. From those three points, it is more likely to be the reverse. Loosing something is significantly harder then never having it. never having a sense can be relatively easier then progressively loosing it. IE. If you never had vision, you dont live as if vision was lost to you, you cant even imagine what it is to see... A blind-from-birth person could ... live his entire life without suffering any depression due to lack of sight. at least from psycho- standpoint. Loosing sight on the other hand, could, psychologically be downright fatal (due to depression leading suicidal nature). or so logic would say. so while at first one would say its clearly harder to live with it from the start, i do believe the opposite. Since psychology and strong will can overcome a lot... but weak will due to progressive loss of something so innately important to us... can overcome a lot less. Nevermind learning. If you were always blind, ever since you are a babay, your body learns based on other stimuli entirely. Its easier to learn to live without smell or sight, if you never had it in the first place. after all, thats their default state. While progressively lost sense makes learning extremely difficult. Your brain still wants and expects specific stimuli for confirmation, and it does not receive it, where it was taught to receive it. Or so i think. Cus logic suggests such, much more then the catchphrasy "if you never had it, it must be harder. must be. you are so lucky to have had it before" bullshit.
Hey man, I can relate to you in many ways, I was diagnosed with a rare skin disease called “Steven Johnson’s syndrome” as of July 2011 at the age of 8, it left me with multiple different side effects, one of them being my vision another is cardiovascular problems, as of November last year I got the news that I’m going blind and due to this news my then at the time misso left me a couple days after this news and I ended up homeless at the start of this year, I’ve started creating content just teaching music as I’ve always known I was gonna go blind one day so I learnt an instrument without having my eyes open just so when it does happen I have something to enjoy, I’ve started creating content of it in the hopes I get a decent enough following to share my story around and hopefully earn some money to go overseas and get my eyes treated by some top specialist in just the hopes I can see better one day! If this saddens you, wait till you see the starving and the homeless in Africa. You know, the ones without toilets, or literal roofs over their heads. The ones with their ribs visible because of lack of food. And then there are people in war-ravaged lands like Syria. Innocent people. I feel bad for this guy going blind but I can't help but feel a lot more heartbroken for the people I just mentioned.
@@eenayeah The real sad thing here is how for many it's much easier to feel for someone with the capability of making youtube videos, edit some appropriate music on it and create a framework to reach people's feelings, then to care for millions and millions of people living in absolute poverty who become more or less "faceless" and a part of the world we - albeit think it sucks - take for granted, but leave it at that since it's "too big to really grasp"... Most people - at least in the global north - are surely more prone to be shedding a tear to a holliwood movie, than when watching news from Syria, Venezuela or Sudan etc... (Not saying it to undermine this video, every one struggles in one form or another, and whataboutism doesn't make someone else's problem less relevant for their individual lives)
I have retinitis pigmentosa too and the doctors in my country (and in yours probably too) the doctors always tell that there is no cure for RP, but i have had two alternative treatments that have actually improved my sight. Most importantly, they have stopped the detoriation of my vision! The treatments i had were at the two following clinics: Firatli clinic (in turkey) Fedorov restore vision clinic (in germany). I would definitely recommend to look into those clinics and see if the treatments can work for you. Also you can search further for cures on the internet. The reason that those treatments aren't recommended by doctors is because the treatmens work in a specific way which is not accepted in the traditional western medical world. Good luck man
@@hennetahgeranailo in order to get a treatment to be accepted in the medical world, that treatment must be tested on a huge group of patients. And even though the firatli and fedorov clinic have existed for quite some time now, they still haven't practiced their treatment on enough people to get acceptance from the medical community. You must keep in mind that the clinics are private enterprises, not state-owned hospitals. They do things which doctors in state-owned hospital are being told is useless and not working. And why are the doctors in state-owned hospitals told that those treatments are useless? Becaus the clinics don't provide enough medical research to prove that their treatments work. They provide medical research, but the amount of research they provide is deemed as not enough to prove their treatments by the medical community. This is true in my country at least,(the netherlands), but i've heard from many RP, usher, and stargard patients around the world (i've met many of them in the waiting rooms of the clinics) that they also get told in their home countries that there is no cure. I am very lucky to have great parents who just couldn't accept my condition and the fact that there was no cure, so since 2013 they have been searching on the internet for alternate cures which the traditional medical world can't provide. And they found something. I must say that i don't have huge improvement from the treatments, but the simple fact that the treatments probably stopped the degeneration is an incredible fact alone. That is why i think its so f*cked up that the traditional medical world doesn't even suggest to look at those treatments. I feel like i really have to spread this information, because it can better so many lives, or at least stop those lives from getting worse. I have to say tho, those treatments sadly don't work for anybody. RP is an umbrella term, there are so many different forms of it that the treatments simply can't handle all the different forms. But if this information can help at least one person, i think it's worth spreading. Sorry for long comment by the way haha, i hope i answered your question with it.

I found this randomly , let me tell you , i have the same condition with me , and doctors tell me the same thing. Its really hard to imagine being blind one day I swear . This is the most relatable video on RU-vid that i have watched so far. But bro , i figured out today that i am not alone. I have a brother , who lives a thousand miles away , going through the same things in life as me. I feel recognized today. Its going to be okay. man this makes me feel so bad. i really hope he will be able to see again one day... i have a BIG fear of being blind, so i just really feel bad, plus now im shaking.
I am also going blind and looking for a purpose. Both retinae suddenly detached one night nearly a year ago. Thankfully I went to the E.R. the next day to have surgery on both, but one retina would re-detach later and I went completely blind in that eye. I’ve had 7 eye surgeries since last September, and my left eye has been distorted and effectively useless since. I must keep it shut all the time, as the two eyes do not work together at all. My "good" eye was seeing triple and had to have a cataract removed. I was also a gamer, notorious for my ability to find unusual glitches in every video game. I fear those days may be over. I’m not as young as you are, but I’m definitely dealing with numerous eye problems way younger than I should. I’m unable to work, drive, or even do many simple tasks anymore. I sincerely hope you and I can each find our vision and purposes in life.

Asnel dorcent Most of the eye surgeries in the last year weren’t very painful. Prior to the last year, the most painful one for me was PRK eye surgery, to correct my extreme nearsightedness (and that paled in comparison to a kidney stone.) Of the surgeries in the last year, the one that periodically gives me some minor pain is a buckle they put around my left eye to keep the retina from re-detaching. It squishes the eye, and therefore distorts everything to the degree of preferring not to use the eye at all. Corrective lenses might alleviate some of the issues, with special prisms to move what I see so the images in each eye can line up, but I don’t know whether the two eyes will ever cooperate, or whether I’ll just see distorted images on top of normal images. I’ll have a better idea when I see the next doctor later this month. I appreciate all the prayers and support, and it seems that others here need it just as much, if not more.
True, okay just sit there for a second and think about how you would feel if your doctor told you that you were going to be blind in a couple of years. It’s scares the shit out of me, just seeing darkness the rest of your life
Man this video made me really sad for you...I advise you to travel around the world, find some places to love (come to my country, Lebanon !) and keep courage ! This world is such a beautiful place, this disease will not stop you from living and loving it.

oh my gosh, i hope you can still live out what little time you have left. Hopefully there is some cure that can fix your current situation. I haven't thought about this but, truthfully speaking, anyone in any time and place could go blind, meaning that they would lose all that they have worked for. I cant believe someone as young as you has to go through this. I have never seen any of your other vids but i still wish you the best of luck!

okay i know this is mean but i find it hilarious how so many comments are telling people not to take a normal bodily function for granted. Appreciate your bladder bc you may never be able to pee again... appreciate your hair bc you might go bald... appreciate your nose bc you might loose ur sense of smell... Loosing something like your sight really does suck but its completely normal to be able to see. Nobody takes their sight for granted, its just... normal

He is most certainly not going to "get well" but obviously he is going to make the most of his life with the time he has left with his vision. So he most definitely staying strong and motivated.
@@katblackburn3136 There are some promising clinical trials using optogenetics. They implant viral vectors into the retina, which leads to new channelexpression in the cells. And with special glasses that filter the daylight to activate the channels, people can regain some form of their eyesight. It's pretty new, but hopefully it will become a viable treatment option soon!
Annemarie Kießling the tie breaker for most people is the fact that you have to have a stable prescription for two straight years which means that you would literally have to have your glasses in from the second that you wake up to the second that you go to sleep. I’m hoping to get my surgery someday but I just got a new prescription so it’s not gonna happen anytime soon. (For me I mean)
@@katblackburn3136 yes there is. There are many doctors especialized in this in Cuba. The surgery will help you get your vision back or eventually lose it. It's a 50-50 but if there's no more option, it's worth a shot

My grandpa got blind when he was 30 years old. He only remembers my mother until she had turned six. He was really suffering from depression. But he got through it and is now the biggest optimist I know. Always making the best out of his situation. He inspires me a lot. He has found things that makes him happy such as listening to music, learning new languages and do sport. He is living his live pretty normal but sees the world through different eyes. I hope you can find the things that make you happy and that you will always have family and friends who support you! ♡ much love (I'm sorry for my English😅)

Don't lose hope bro. Doctors have told me that my retina is very slim and it could snap at any time. So they advised me not to run or play any outdoor games specially sprinting and stuff. I used to play football for my college team but I had to quit cause of it and its so hard to quit something you love so much. But it's life you have to accept it. Good luck to you brother. Don’t worry, if it does snap, there is a surgery u can get to save ur vision; I know because I had to had that surgery at 23 when it was detaching. Talk with your doctor about the symptoms and if you get them, go to a doctor immediately to check your eyes out.
@@explodingpryro Yeah Doctor's have told me. But I always feel scared what if I miss the symptoms. Doctor told me that it'll feel like a lighting struck or something similar so I'm very cautious about it. Thank you though. Is the surgery a permanent solution or it might happen again?
