I'M HAVING SURGERY

I have lipedema. I’ve decided the best next step to manage my condition - lipedema - is to pursue surgery. It wasn’t an easy decision, but ultimately it’s the right one. Lipedema is not easy to deal with, and it comes with a lot of pain. I’m hurting and It’s hard. I just wish I would have dealt with this sooner, but that’s ok. I am dealing with it now. The only way forward is through and on the other side I will be there, but my pain won’t. This will all be worth it. I’ll be sure to take you all along and hopefully help others on this journey to better understand the process. If you're curious what is lipedema, I will talk about that as well.

I did a residence inn with a recovery nurse. Also I used a good massage therapist who is familiar with lipedema. You might want to get pneumatic pumps.

For people asking: there is an actual surgery for lipedema. It’s called micro cannula tumescent liposuction. But I don’t know if that’s the surgery she’s talking about. It sounds to me like she’s talking about bariatric surgery - which is weight loss surgery.

I was diagnosed this year with Lipedema and have 3 surgeries planned. When I was first diagnosed I was relieved and super angry at the same time, particularly at all the doctors over the years who have constantly told me to "just lose some weight." The Rollercoaster emotions and pain and mobility issues are no joke. I'm so thrilled for you to be taking this step and I wish you a speedy recovery. I suspect it will be worth it in the end, and your body will remember all the work you've put it over the last two years. The movement will come back. You are so brave and so strong. Good news Girl! I’ve been telling you for awhile to get it done. You seriously have to remove the cells. I mean that’s the only option for most and it is what it is. Hopefully you are going to NY or Chicago and getting the newer lipo where it’s a smaller device and you can be awake so less dangerous. You’re gonna need to do that, cause trust me this is gonna be a multiple times procedure. And then likely need to do again in later years. It’s gonna be ok, and you are gonna feel sooooooooo much better. After remember, no drinking, it’s a trigger for those cells! No smoking either, bad bad bad. I’m so glad you are finally doing this👍👍👍‼️‼️‼️‼️

Good luck to you!! I pray this surgery helps in all the ways you are wanting and needing. This video was super sad bc I’m so used to seeing you happy and laughing. Everyone has to make their own choices about their lives and their bodies. Do what makes you happy or what you think will help.

I’m going through about the same thing you are I was diagnosed with osteonecrosis of my hip. I’m only 40 and I’ve been living with a condition now for six years. Life has gotten very difficult and I had to have a surgery to have the next part of my life progress so that I won’t be in pain anymore when it comes to making these decisions, there’s no right or wrong answer. You just have to do what is best for you and there is no failure in that, most people don’t even understand what it is to live in pain. I just wish to have one day not even a day an hour where I don’t feel excruciating pain sending hugs and loves you’re not alone.

Oh Anna, I want to give you such a big hug xx thank you for sharing your journey. I always feel understood when I see your videos because you look like me, and I'd never even heard of lipedema until you told me! I'm in the UK and I've spoken to my dr about this and what could be done, and he just said yeah, you probably do have it, but there's nothing that can be done about it so.... *shrugs* 🙄 it's so disheartening. I hope you continue to share your journey with us. Love you xx

Anne, you probably have already tried this but just in case, doing water aerobics and swimming in warm water can really help with the lipedema pain. My husband and I go to hot spring pools in CA and are also installing a swim spa to help keep me mobile while I wait for surgery. Wishing you all the best and hoping you can tune out the know it all haters.❤❤❤

People that don’t live with pain 24/7 have absolutely no idea how it can affect you psychologically as well as physically…. Surgery is the best decision for you at this time and place, so tell anyone that tries to be negative to pound sand…. Have your surgery and hopefully it will help you tremendously in the long term.

I have lipedema and the pain is insane. I'm losing my mobility from the pain and the condition is growing in my body. I find you to be VERY inspiring! Don't apologize for getting the surgery. If you want to be able to continue walking it becomes a necessity for many of us with this horrendous condition. I have followed your excising and thought you were amazing. I watch in awe because I can't do many of the things you do and I think it's awesome that you can do them. Try not to let the haters get to you. I know it's hard, but there are people on your side in this. We understand and know how much this disease sucks. No one seems to understand unless they live with it or with someone who is in the advanced stages where it's really problematic. You've got friends who love you so don't worry about the schmucks on the internet.

Looking at your shape, I always wondered if you were struggling with lipodema. It was very hard for a friend of mine to get it diagnosed, but when she did it was ultimately liberating. As you say the condition, not the person with it is the issue. I am sending you loads of love and encouragement. You are not a burden or a failure - you simply have a medical condition - please be kind to yourself and ignore the naysayers. I know you can do it, think of all the effort you put in that did not work so well because of the lipodema, but you have that strength for your treatment.
