I was so excited to play this and I still can't believe... This happened. Trying really hard to stay open-minded even after crying my eyes out multiple times.
Thank you guys for watching!
ABOUT THE GAME:
Five years after their dangerous journey, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability. When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure.

Wow... What a beginning. I am speechless and still can't believe this happened even though it has been several days since this first episode has been recorded. I wish we could've had more time. PS: I'll definitely finish this game. No worries guys. Just needed a little break. Thank you guys for watching and joining me on this journey. 💙

I think that was most people's biggest problem with the game. It was very abrupt. I feel that if the game played out in chronological order it would have made much more sense. As you'll see the game is not actually in chronological order. Jumping in like this and losing Joel immediately was just too jarring.
@rx7dude2006

@@HildegardActual That is the catalyst for the whole story, the reason for it, it had to be done that way.
@Riddler0603
@Riddler0603 Год назад
@@HildegardActual What you mean? Up to this point, everything is in chronological order. And without spoiling anything, the whole story after this is being told chronological too. Joel's death needed to be happening early, because it's the thing that is starting the whole story and the main motivator for Ellie to go on her journey.

the only reason this even happened is because TLOU part 2 is full with bad and lazy but also WOKE writing. Joel and Tommy acting out of character, trusting strangers , telling them their names, despite Joel knows that the fireflies are looking for him. And no, Joel did not become soft like Neil Cuckman tried to claim ( making up excuses for his bad writing ) No where in the stroy beginning was any hint that Joel has become soft and trusting strangers or anything like that. In fact Jesse even complained how strict Joel is with rules and patrol protocol. So Joel becoming soft simply doesn't fit with Neil Cuckman`s own writing ( but why he and Tommy then trusted some strangers even risked their lives to help one ) , that's why many say, ITS BAD WRITING..full with contradictions. ___________________________ Next problem ... Ellie and Tina have absurd plot armor.. we know how all writing have plot armor for their main character but that's what distinguishes good from bad writing. When the plot armor is not so visible thats good writing.... but in TLOU part 2 plot armor for Ellie and Tina is constant, they escape the absurdest and dedielst of situtations. Ohh and there are fun totally absurd parts as well , where Ellie uses a LOADED GUN as a MELEE WEAPON with the intent to kill... lol who wrote this nonsense lol omg. ________________________________ And the ending ... so Ellie has no problem killing hundreds of innocent people but then she won't kill... ( we know who ) :D its a joke story writing.. that's why the game went on discount after 3 months it came out and it was universally hated. _______________________________ The only reason it won game of the year is because those award are rigged.... they gave that award for WOKENESS DIVERSITY , FEMINIST , LGBT points.. not for actually a good story and game play. in 2020 ,GOTY should had won Final Fantasy 7 remake or Ghost of tsushima , not TLOU part 2 .

Laura Bailey, the actor for Abby and a good friend of Ashley (Ellie's actor) actually had to comfort her during the shooting of this scene. Ashley lost her dad at a young age so what we see there from Ellie are real fucking emotions too. At the end of watching my first playthrough I was just empty and exhausted (and the latter still happens after watching every single reaction of this game). The game, the characters and the things that happened, or even what could've happened if things went differently, were on my mind for a whole month, daily. I had it in my mind during the day, couldn't find sleep when in bed because of it, even dreamed about it and then it was the first thing I thought about when I woke up.

Oh yeah, writing another reply I remembered. The voice actors for Joel & Ellie are Troy Backer and Ashley Johnson. There's an interview on YT where they talk about this scene, which was pretty much the hardest thing she had to do, as she lost her own dad when she was quite young. So what you see there in the game are some real emotions from her. It's spoiler free for the meaning of what happened in that first episode of course, but stay away from the comments there. (/watch?v=S4wWe0vBQqM) She cares about Ellie, so she has a habit of getting emotional when talking about her. Another short one for Part 1, specifically the DLC (/watch?v=jiB_DzutSc4). Honestly really love her, she is a huge part of what brought this character to life and why people care so much about Ellie. Even that little finger fidgeting is from her being nervous, or the space nerding from Ellie is actually from her own persona. They, and the actor for Tommy, Jeffrey Pierce, also have cameos in the show, which you will probably enjoy.

I know the Joel apologists keep telling themselves that excuse constantly, but it was not just an attempt to make a cure. The writers meant to say that they were very much confident to be able to make one, not that they may eventually with good luck could possibly make one. They wanted to present a trolley problem scenario, multiplied by a few billion people, current ones and those not yet even born. This is not just important in regards to Joel's decision to literally just murder everyone and make that decision over Ellie's head, but also for Ellie and the personality disorder that she grew in regards to her cure, starting with the survivors guilt from Riley. All the shit she went through on that journey, the loss of Tess, Sam and Henry, Joel's injury, her experience with David, and pretty much all those tragic stories in all those notes, it's all a consequence of the world they're living in, due to the infected. And Ellie was supposed to be the answer to that, that's what she saw herself as, and what Joel took from her. People who constantly claim otherwise are really undermining Ellie's character by doing that (and also the goal of the Fireflies), and putting Joel on this glorified pedestal, that isn't even one. He murdered countless of people in that hospital, including Marlene, all also with their friends and family, and basically is responsible for possibly having doomed humanity. And even before that he spent probably a decade or so with literal banditry, if not longer, murdering innocent people for their gear, which is part of what gave him his reputation in Boston. All things considered he was more of an antagonist and definitely had it coming. It's surprising that he even made it this far in the first place with how much enemies he must've made over the years. Oh and Joel would never name a horse Callus. He always hated that name. 30:46 👀🏌 You actually missed a little bit of dialog when you didn't see the house entrance at first, because that started the dialog with the movie night, which you were supposed to hear while looting that house. When you go into the camper there's another one but you were still listening to the previous one because of your mishap. Definitely make sure to always read the journal after each "sequence", for example now after Joel's death. Ellie keeps writing things into it, the game will not remind you and you cannot go back to previous pages of previously played parts unless you reload a save from that time. But you do have to potentially go back to previous pages for when she writes more than one. It's an easy to miss part of the game that is very important for the story telling. ANYWAY... Answers are definitely to be found throughout the game. It's a rough and very dark ride, but I still stand by my point that I like Part 2 more than Part 1. After watching my first playthrough of it (I don't play consoles) I had to think about the game, the characters and happenings daily, for a whole month straight. I couldn't find sleep because of those thoughts, I even dreamed about it, and it was the first thing that popped into my mind when I woke up. It requires processing, but it's also the only game that ever affected me on a personal level to this degree. Also, if you haven't started already, wait with the HBO show until you're through Part 2. It hits very differently and there's a bunch of Part 2 references too.

this part was one the worst parts in a game of all time. joel was smart, which is how he survived for so long. he did what he had to to save ppl like ellie, and himself at times. but the fact tommy just spills the beans and" hey we down the hill boss, come on down in a few and get some beans brother" is the dumbest bs ive ever witnessed. it made me mad how joel died 3 or 4 years ago, and it still makes me angry now. they handled his departure so poorly its sickening honestly. last of us 1 a masterpiece, 2 is a mastershit.

No, what Tommy said was actually very smart. Think about it, if you've be forced by a blizzard and a horde of infected into sheltering with a bunch of armed strangers, what is the best and worst case scenario? A) They're who they say are, peaceful travelers with no hostile intentions, B) they're opportunistic raiders who'd kill you for what's in your pockets. In the former situation inviting them back to town breaks the ice and dampens any mutual suspicion, no problem, and it's not like Jackson doesn't deal regularly with outsiders. In the latter situation you've just told them you live nearby and thus have help close at hand or at least people who'll notice if you go missing, _and_ you've offered to lead them back to said town and give them free supplies, by which you've given any raiders with two brain cells to rub together every incentive not to harm you at least in the short term. And that's all without mentioning that Jackson is a fortified settlement of hundreds, not an easy target for under a dozen people. If you're still unconvinced what Tommy said was reasonable, I'd ask you what the alternative is? Tell the armed strangers they're alone and completely at their mercy? Ignoring that Owen and Abby have already found Jackson, they just rode into the lodge on horses with a J brand, and it seems improbable that travelers a few miles from Jackson Wyoming wouldn't know about the existence of Jackson Wyoming or at least be very close to finding it once the storm clears up. Personally, Joel's death was one of the best and most impactful character deaths I've seen in fiction let alone video games, and I think it was done very thoughtfully and purposefully. It seems to me the people most mad about it are so mad they've become irrational, and refuse to consider the scene or the larger game objectively. It's a shame, because I legitimately consider both parts to be masterpieces in their own right, and it sucks there's this part of the audience who can't appreciate Part 2.

It's ridiculous for Joel such a cautious, tricky even a little nasty person just walk into a house full of armed strangers and speaking out their real name like a fool. Dude he ran over a guy with a car because he don't trust him! I can feel that the writer just don't like characters in first game and try to ruin them to build new characters and they are really bad at that and new characters are self-contradictory and has over rampant empathy. To me this just cannot be a convincing story.
@Fangtorn
@Fangtorn 10 месяцев назад
It's not remotely ridiculous if you actually think about it. Joel was in a blizzard, surrounded by infected, and the woman he just saved and fought side by side with offered him the protection of her group in a place he was familiar with it. In that situation accepting her help was the best option. The alternative was being torn about by infected or freezing to death trying to ride back to Jackson. He had no better option, and as for saying his name, why wouldn't he? This is a moot point anyway because Tommy had already said his name in front of Abby at the ski lift during a survival situation, but even if he hadn't, he has no reason to suspect these people are ex-Fireflies who happen to be specifically hunting him. It's not like there are roving bands of Fireflies murdering every _Joel_ they come across, and if they were just raiders his name wouldn't matter.
@miller-joel
@miller-joel 2 месяца назад
@@Fangtorn Your excuses are just as ridiculous. At the exact same time, Ellie, Dina and Jesse were looking for Joel and Tommy ALL BY THEMSELVES. Individually. How come they were not at risk from the storm or the horde? Joel and Tommy knew that people are the greater danger in that world. Specially well-armed strangers. They had a better chance in the storm facing a horde. Duh.
@Fangtorn
@Fangtorn 2 месяца назад
@@miller-joel They were? They had to clear a whole supermarket full of infected and almost got separated by the blizzard. By the time Jesse found them the storm had died down enough for them to search the area. Before that Tommy and Joel decided their horses wouldn't make it to Jackson. We see them barely make it to the lodge, and thanks to the gate the WLF are able to Molotov the infected following them. Jackson is a community that regularly deals with outsiders and has the experience to distinguish between armed strangers and Hunters. Joel was willing to trust Sam and Henry even though they were armed strangers because necessity called for it, this is no different.
@miller-joel
@miller-joel 2 месяца назад
@@Fangtorn So you're admitting, whether you realize it or not, that Joel and Tommy could have waited a little while for the storm to die down. They didn't have to make it all the way back to Jackson. They could have found shelter anywhere else, if needed. They knew the area far better than the WLF. Jackson has a sign that says "STOP. Identify yourself before approaching the gate." That sign is not there for the infected. They don't read signs. Jackson deals with strangers very carefully. They can't afford not to. Henry and Sam were not soldiers. "this is no different" 🤣🤣🤣
@Fangtorn
@Fangtorn 2 месяца назад
@@miller-joel "Joel and Tommy could have waited a little while for the storm to die down." How would they know how long the storm would last? Even if they did they're already in the thick of it, the infected are on their heels, they need to find shelter immediately and Abby offers them refuge at a place they're familiar with, "the Baldwin place." Of course Jackson deals carefully with outsiders; they also encounter people on patrol and give them assistance, as Joel was doing with Abby. In this immediate survival situation they need to make a decision where to go, she gives them an option that it nearby, familiar, and secure. It would make no sense to choose the immediate danger of the blizzard and the horde because of the potential danger of a group of strangers. "Henry and Sam were not soldiers." They were armed strangers. Joel chose to trust them to improve their odds of survival, even waiting for the rest of their group, just like he's doing with Abby. How would Joel and Tommy know Abby's group were soldiers until they were already there? Their uniforms? Being part of a militia doesn't necessarily mean hostile either.

I don’t enjoy that i don’t like the choices made for the sequel. Even if it’s not as controversial i think I’d have preferred a story where Abby with a slightly more realistic build killed Tommy and thought she killed Joel. Then some sort of story of Joel and Ellie going after them. Plenty ways to explore most if not all the same themes this way. Also don’t make Ellie completely different than Ellie in the first game and near comic book level evil. That being said I’ve played the game like 5 times because in all the other ways I absolutely love it. The mechanics. The world building. Ellie looks cool as hell. Moments like when you first enter scar park with torches at dusk and they are whistling. Talk about atmosphere. Just amazing. Also the whole sky scraper section with lev is incredible.
