Aaand this concludes my playthrough of The Last Of Us Part 2. What a game... I don't think I've ever played a game that played this much with my emotions. After finishing TLOU1, I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into and what to expect, but you guys were very spot on about this being a wild ride lol. I ended up talking a looot at the end there, so for anyone who wanted to hear my final thoughts on the game and ending, there ya go! I'm very glad I played both TLOU1 and 2 and I'm really looking forward to any updates on a possible part 3 (I'd do anything to see Abby and Ellie sit down and have a talk lmao). What do you guys think part 3 will be about? I think we'll be seeing the fireflies again or maybe have a major time skip and get to play as JJ? Considering how cool his parents are/were, that'd be really nice! Anyways guys, thank you so much for recommending the TLOU games to me and for joining me on this journey. This video was copyright claimed so I'm just gonna shamelessly plug my memberships here (which I activated today)! Becoming a member means you'd be able to use my emotes, get loyalty badges and have access to exclusive perks... Oh, and you'd obviously be supporting me and my channel, even tho you watching my videos is already more than enough. Thank you guys for everything, I hope to see you in my next adventure :) 💙

I don't think there will be a Part 3 TBH. If there is, I'm not sure it will be based on the characters we know and appreciate. Rumours are that the next Naughty Dog game will be completely new/ unique.

You are absolutely the best. I have enjoyed watching your play though and comments. You are probably looking for advice on what you can do better. Sorry I am out of ideas. The main thing in this case is that the game and story line is so good. You were laid back enough to let the game take the lead and have a wonderful way of just adding the right amount without messing it up. And one more thing, you made the game look so easy to play. All the pros are able to do that.

I'm leaning towards a pretty major time skip in 3, but it will be a long while before we get there.

This game has kind of ruined other narrative-heavy games for me. None really comes close to the same level of animation, direction and acting.

When Ellie arrives at the farm at the end, she has written a poem on her journal, with a sketch of Dina & JJ below it. It basically talks about how much pain she's caused them and how much she regrets that. She wants to do better for them, she wants to make up for her actions... but she is afraid that she is damaged goods and will only hurt them (part of the reason why she left in the first place). And the VERY LAST entry in her journal is a sketch of Joel. He is sitting on his porch, guitar in hand, strumming away. Ellie has sketched him from the side. After the entire game of not being able to draw his eyes (she always either scratched them out or left the area empty when she sketched his face). But here, in this final sketch, she has drawn his eyes. She didn't draw him head on, but his eyes are still there. A subtle way of showing that she is better. That she has finally made some peace with his loss. And then ofc, we follow her as she gently, lovingly lays Joel's guitar (and by proxy, his spirit, his memory) to rest. At last, Ellie is on a journey to heal, to be better, and to "find a purpose and fight for it", as her mother Anna always implored her to do. Absolutely love this game.

Yep, that whole ending scene is basically her saying goodbye and moving on. She's obviously not okay still but just like Abby after helping Lev & Yara (and then peacefully dreaming about her dad for the first time) she's finally on a good way.

A simple revenge story on the surface unveils itself as a story regarding the importance of identity and grief, more specifically how we tend to cope with grief in a time of sorrow and suffering. This story’s branching pathways helped me see how similar the two women actually were. Abby finally found a new meaning to her life the moment she took Lev and Yara under her wing. All the pain, all the sadness and the realization of how useless her tracking Joel and killing him was were swept away upon cementing and finding a new purpose….A real one. Ellie, on the other side, wasn't really seeking revenge and she wasn’t so much mad at Abby more than she was mad at the fact that Abby took away the chance for her to reconcile with Joel. She finally had the strength to try and forgive him but he died the day after….and you kinda have to admit he had it coming. Killing Abby was just a objective to focus on, to evade the thought of how badly she pushed away the man that she loved the most, the father that she never had, tormented by the thought of him thinking that she hated him while dying. It took one moment, a single glimpse of him while trying to drown Abby to remember the gift he gave her that night, a real precious one: How to forgive, how to forgive the man that took her chance of saving the world and to forgive the woman that killed him, seeing how that once fierce warrior was crawling in the dirt to save that scrawny little kid. At almost the cost of her life, she ended up giving back to her worst enemy, exactly like Joel did with her years ago….⁣

Still to this day, 3 years after its the best story experience I've ever had. Better than any film/series/book/game.. I loved the first game, but Part II is somehow a better game in all aspects. This game is an empthay tester for sure, if you're someone who can't understand the other side to an argument it may not click with you.. Great playthrough though, I've noticed everyone who's now playing it is loving the game.. I hope to get a part 3, or perhaps even a new IP from Naughty Dog, they're masters at creating amazing characters.

I waited to comment on the last episode of the Part II of this amazing series of games because I wanted to observe the approach to both sides of the conflict, but a few episodes earlier I thought of a summary because the gameplay, emotions, comments are great and the series is one of the best on YT! After I finished the game, I didn't want to play any other title for a long time. I thought a lot and felt empty knowing what a good story it was, a heavy one that took storytelling in games to a new level. Definitely, apart from Joel, I will miss Owen and Jessy the most, but there is no happy ending for anyone, no time for mourning, everything happens quickly - just like in life. It's scary to think how many difficult topics, emotions and good gaming await us in Part III! Thanks again for the great series and see you in the next part of the series and more :)

Beyond the obvious fact the game was masterly written, this is the first game I genuinely felt I was watching a movie with very good actors. Look at the last scene between Dîna and Ellie when she wants to leave but Dina holds her, the way she looks at her, her eyes movements, her facial expressions are too real to be a video game. Motion capture here was made to perfection, probably even better than Rdr2, which is an incredible thing to consider

absolutely!! the cinematic quality of this game is something that will endure the test of time, no matter how much more realistic video games are able to get. i’m sure in the next few decades both games will get additional remasters, as they’re trailblazers of modern video game storytelling, but their performances will all endure forever.

I think narratively, it would make sense for Part III to conclude Ellie's arc and will be about her search for the cure and redemption. I predict the game will take place in Southern USA and specifically Atlanta (location of the Center of Disease Control and FEDRA HQ). I think Abby and Lev found the Fireflies in Catalina (as per the changed menu screen at the end of Part II) and will have some role to play.

Nothing happens by chance in this game. The fact that Ellie was bitten on the hand whose fingers Abby bit off, coming into contact with the contaminated blood, had a reason. Ellie is immune, but Abby is not. When the injured rattlesnake said that it would give Ellie time to find Abby before the infection spread, it was because the fungus would still be in the hand area. If there is a third part of the game, we may have Abby infected. But this is just an assumption.
@Dark__Thoughts

Really hard to tell because we don't really know what her body & mutated infection are doing to further infections.

I really liked Part 1. I never really let go of the escalation of the relationship between Joel and Ellie. So making Joel's death the inciting incident of this game, to me, was just a horrible use of the material. We didn't need 25 hours of game to be told Joel wasn't innocent. Ellie could have discovered the truth in the course of the events of the game instead of in flashback, and Joel could have met his demise at the end of Act 2 or in Act 3. To me, that would have been a much better game instead of bringing Joel and Ellie's in game relationship to a halt and dragging us through hating Abby then being forced to not hate Abby. I've felt that way from ever since this game was released. Story aside, though, everything else about this game was top notch.

The amount of parallels between Abby & Ellie and their personal stories is astounding, and beautifully done. I'm really glad you stayed to the end and handled the ending so maturely. Clearly you're able to handle multiple perspectives and view them neutrally as opposed to the... many people who can't get over their own perspectives. Also some side notes, I think there is some indication that Ellie & Dina had met before that very ending scene. You can find the connections online. The baby didn't speak, that was Ellie, however a LOT of people got that confused. A few people get confused by the whole "round building" thing. The Fireflies are on Catalina Island, The Rattlers round building is completely different. As for TLOU Part 3, I know a lot of people want different characters. However I want to continue Ellie's personal story honestly, however to play as JJ wouldn't be the worst thing ever. I think Abby & Ellie's story has much more to continue in my opinion.

As far as 'manipulation' goes it's a moot point. All works of art try to manipulate in every medium. It's literally nothing new. Pre-school chalk drawings all the way to multi-million dollar film productions. Every writer, actor & comedian wants us to empathize. Every artist.

Love playing the game, it’s so much fun. But the holes in the story, the ridiculous ending, inconsistencies in the characters etc, these always bug me. Almost as much as the really obsessive pretentious fanbase it has who treat it like it’s Shakespeare and some transcendent experience. Love how if you don’t trash it you’re credited for being “open minded”, because clearly anyone who had issue with it is closed minded 😂

yes, I empathize with abby as well, but it doesn’t make it right what she did still, 8v2 against them. She tortured joel to death right in front of ellie, his head was literally disformed. Not to mention she made all of her friends a part of her bloodlust. She’s an incredibly selfish person, a homewrecker also. the only redeeming quality about her was that she took care of those 2 kids. I understand that revenge consumed her, just like ellie, but man, I can’t forgive her the damage she had done with her revenge.
@raconianmoon
@raconianmoon 5 месяцев назад
I mean you could definitely say exactly the same about both joel and ellie, you gotta remember they have both done some truly horrifying and terrible things that rival or beat what abby has done, but that doesn't make any of them monsters. That's the central thesis of both the first and second game; at the end of the day we're all still people, monstrous and beautiful all at once

Thank you for saying this. This game was so horribly written, and it pains me to see so many people eating it up. All characters forgot who they were in the previous game, other characters forgot who they were 5 minutes ago throughout the story, the pacing was awful, nobody's intentions were realistic, it was so jarring. At no point was I able to sympathize with Abby, let alone view her as human. Such a disappointment compared to the firstgame.

People were happy to be emotionally manipulated with TLOUp1, because they WERE us... Unfortunately many people couldn't make the transition to see Abby was also. So the emotional beats just made the feel like their family/them were being further attacked. While it makes me sad they missed the beauty of the transition, it also says something about how popular the fabs are, and how impactful TLOU p1 was.

Haven't left comments before this... But well done. This is a very special game, and I'm glad you could see it for what it was. There's a lot of haters, but this has one of the most impactful stories in gaming. And yes, for all that we loved Joel and Ellie, I very much came to love Abby too. She was the future (hopefully) for Ellie, and showed that when all hope was gone, humanity could still survive... Which is why her story ultimately is so positive. And yes, Ellie"s story is so dark and hopeless... But I think its that hope they could make it through that makes the pain bearable. I've played it twice and watched it many times... You definitely have a great style, so well done. Subscribed!

And it would be nice if TLOU3 tells its own story without trying to be 'unexpected' just for the sake of shock. The 1st was about love 2nd was about revenge 3rd..... redemption and sacrifice? Thank you for taking us on this journey with you. You were brilliant and I look forward to joining you again in the future. ❤❤

Great playthrough. I enjoyed watching this. I'm always impressed when people manage to go into the Abby-section with an open mind. The two stories are parallel in more ways than one. Abbys journey starts with revenge, followed by emptiness and what can perhaps be interpreted as regret (in the sense that killing Joel helped nothing, this is indicated by her nightmares). Ellies journey is towards revenge. Something that always kind of bothered me was that Ellie never knew _why_ Abby killed Joel. From the encounter they have at the theater, Ellie says that "there's no cure because of me" implying that she thinks Abby killed Joel because he prevented a cure from being made - not that the doctor he killed was Abbys dad. I totally agree with you; in a different univesrse; these two would probably have been great friends. Both strong, independent women with a ton of baggage who are trying to find their place in the world.

First game was great, but Joel literally doomed the world at the end of the first game, so it was no surprise someone came after him. Big twist was when we find out that Ellie knew what he did all along. I liked the first half of the sequel, but I think they totally failed in the second half. First half set up some interesting things, and second half failed to investigate them. I thought it would be interesting when Ellie finds out that Joel killed Abby's father, and can see the parallels, but not, this information never even gets across. Ellie has no real character arc. The only slight glimmer of humanity is when she decides not to kill Abby after killing hundreds of other innocents to get to her, because she had a 1 second memory of Joel playing the guitar. This seems like such a trope to me, killing everyone along the way only to have second thoughts right at the end. Abby spares Ellie multiple times, and Ellie never learns anything. First game we were litelly on a quest to save the world, Ellie was special, we were on a mission, with a great twist at the end to subvert all that. Second game was just a revenge story and what's special about Ellie plays little part. Abby was the hero. They've said that part 3 might focus on Tommy, please nooo, who cares about Tommy? What they should do is fix the mistakes of the second part. Would be interesting if Ellie and Abby have to team up for a common goal. Get the main story back on track, so maybe there's another brain surgeon who could do the job, and this time Ellie goes into it knowing what to expect.

I absolutely love this game! I guess I was in the minority who never hated Abby, as soon as I realized Joel killed her dad, I felt for her. and you gotta admit they were decent enough to spare Tommy and Ellie, and in this game we are used to murdering everyone even when they beg for mercy. I was really upset when Owen got killed, i thought that he was a genuinely good person. and, not gonna lie, his scenes with Abby were one of my favorites! but i overall enjoyed everything about this game and really loved watching you play it, because many other famous gamers were just hating on it the whole time, which i found incredibly annoying. like, it’s really not that hard to be emotionally intelligent enough to understand what they were trying to do by showing us both sides of the story. and i didn't feel manipulated. why is it hard to believe that people from the opposite side are not evil, that they also had friends and loved ones who they would kill for. an eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind.

Love this comment, that is exactly how I felt! So many people did not understand at all why I chose to not hate Abby, even up until the ending of the game... I think for some people it's just very hard to put themselves in someone else's shoes. I cannot wait for TLOU3, I hope we'll finally get to see Abby and Ellie in the same room without them trying to kill each other lmao

Thinking about the third part of the story (Last Of Us 3,) I can only really envision it one way. Abby re-joining the Fireflies, being tasked with finding (possibly saving) Ellie for a second shot for the vaccine and bringing the whole thing full circle. I can't imagine any other story worth telling with Ellie at this point. I'm not interested in seeing her become Joel for someone else (especially since we saw that mirrored with Abby n Lev already.) I don't want to see her go on another revenge arc. Maybe I'm lacking imagination but I can only see it playing out one way. Which I am certain would still have it's shocks and twists knowing how good Naughty Dog have been at story telling. Can't wait to find out! :)

Stories I've ever played in a game even though it's sad. Every outcome made sense and you understand every character is motivation. The game did a great job of making you understand all sides. People who can't get past Joel dying. Don't understand the bigger picture. And how everyone else is a victim from his decision. Either way I love all the characters this was a classic in storytelling, acting, and the gameplay was solid

I realy loved watch you play tru, most of it is your reflection on those caractere, seeing that Joel wasn't perfect, that Abby was burn by the revenge as Elie was, finding good in evryone of them tell me a lot on the kind persone that YOU are as well. To my point of view this game is a master class of sociology and antropology that goes deeper then many books. Yes it was in the ending that show the night befor Joel died, and we get to understand their that Elie needed to get to that point to heal and let go of her guilt and need to revenge, now she can be in peace. THANK YOU for sharing your journey, not only on your playing skill but all your reflection.

17:40 It's wild that the multiverse you mentioned is kind've the one WE live in. Ashley Johnson (Ellie) and Laura Bailey (Abby) are best friends in real life and stream dungeons and dragons every week together on Critical Role 😆 Seeing those two get along so well there really helped lessen the hurt of this story. They did such an incredible job with these characters, it felt so real. GGs - Thank you for the playthrough, that was a blast to watch. Looking forward to your future series!

there was 3 things that dont feel right with this game to me. joel, with all his experience, just casually strolling into a random persons house with no guards up whatsoever. Dina who said "you go, i go." just abandoning ellie for no reason. and abby's dad not willing to even ask ellie about her condition before operating. everything else was great. well, besides playing as abby. i dont like doing even a second of it because it feels wayyyy to forced and one sided.

I was surprised when you get to the theater and the game doesn't swap characters(99% of people think they'll come back to play Ellie). We spend many hours in Abby's company, we empathize with her a little but when she "kills" Tommy our emotions become confused again. The worst thing is having to hit Ellie, in the fight at the theater I saw many people put down the joypad. Anyway nice playthough! 🌿
