There's a lot of mexican recipes on here. He actually does a decent job on a few of them. You can tell he has experience with true Mexican food rather than American tex mex
I am form Uruguay and empanadas are traditional here, Argentina also. The Gauchos (cowboys) here have been eating these for ages! I am glad they made their way to the US cowboys’ tables. Cheers
ain't nothing like a Cowboy Kent hug 🤗 thank you guys for always being so positive and sharing your recipes with us keep up the good work and God Bless
Well Hallelujah! At least you're getting some rain back there. We're tired of this drought out here in N. Calif. Yum! Can't wait to try these empanadas.
It's amazing how many cultures around the world have a variant on this. My wife is from Mongolia and cooks a similar, but larger version called "Khushuur" (pronounced Hoosure). She puts finely diced cabbage in there for moisture, and after my 16 years of "westernizing" her sometimes gets into garlic and chillies. Will have to try the bell pepper and cheese next time she does it.
When I was stationed in Japan I found the same thing there called gyoza and they were great. There was one restaurant, not too far from Camp Zama, I went to called "The Gyoza House" and there was a line to get in that little restaurant all the time but it was well worth the wait. It was a small family business so everyone was involved. The wife, mother, and daughters did all the prep-work while the husband, father, and sons did the cooking, either steamed or fried. There's a larger steamed version called "Nikuman" which is the same thing as "Siopao" in The Philippines and they're great also.
You know watching your show is the best part of my day I truly do enjoy your your candor and the way you treat your dogs you're an awesome person you and your film crew have a great day God bless
My grandmother used to make something similar. She added scrambled eggs, onions and pieces of bacon and shredded mild cheddar cheese. She baked them rather than deep frying them. They were fantastic, especially with a big glass of ice cold milk. They were good for breakfast and lunch.
I've baked something like this, long ago, when I had a can of pumpkin. Pumpkin is a traditional ingredient of Tex-Mex empanadas. I really prefer baking to deep-frying. Cowboy Kent's crust is much better than the one I made back then. I'll try it again and do it better. (It wasn't 3 Dog Night, it was Creedence Clearwater Revival: "Proud Mary.")
Galicia, España is home of the Hispanic empanada Plenty of our ancestors came from Galicia to Mexico, Argentina with them handy pies...the Cornwallers from England also took them pies to Mexico to work the mines
Creedance Clearwater Revival sung Rollin Down The River, Proud Mary. Your dogs are stars just like you, thanks for all the deliscious ideas and recipes. God Bless.
I love Cowboy Kent he's taught me how to make so many delicious recipes. He's old school real and wholesome this is by far the best cooking show ever. Also I hope that I get the chance to try this man's chicken fried steak someday. Thanks for the awesome videos Kent.
@@CowboyKentRollins yes Sir. It’s Hot here in Los Angeles 100’F . I just want to Thank You. For all your Masterfull Chef Recipes. Thank You So Much 😊 Kent & Puppy’s love 💕
Every culture has some kind of basic filled-dough food. Pasties, pierogi, ravioli, dim-sum dumplings, and of course extra tasty empanadas. Thanks for sharing this wonderful menu idea.
‘ Meat pie ‘ ! The very name is music to the ears of any Australian ! I can hardly bear to think about what a Cowboy Kent Rollins version of a Sydney-style ‘ Tiger Pie ‘ would taste like !
Kent thanks for sharing and Gods blessings for you and your wife and family and all your friends and down here in Thomasville Georgia we all love you all
Kent, tried the empanada recipe. Happen to have 1lb of each meat so we had extra meat we didn't use for the empanadas. My wife added some fixins today and made sloppy joes with the meat, served on Hawaiian sweet rolls.... Great is all I can say...
That's no coincidence, the cornish pasty is the basis of the empanada. When tin miners from Cornwall England immigrated to South America and Mexico to work the silver mines they brought with them their traditional lunchtime meal, the pasty, when they married local women who used local ingredients the empanada was born. It's one of the first "fusion foods" that there is a record of.
Absolutely loved this... only Cowboy Kent can stand in the rain with everything around him wet and tell you to roll the dough until the wet spots disappear... with a straight face. But it looks great... checking the forecast to see if Empanada making weather is coming. And the Maj cleaning off the rolling board at the end... priceless. God Bless Kent Rollins and all of "the clan".
I'm not even joking, I came back to this video because I was looking for a dough recipe that'd be good for frying, and I remembered this. I used sugar instead of your seasoning in the dough, and a strawberry compote with cream cheese inside. Absolutely wonderful. Regular pie dough just don't fry up quite the same.
Kent, I never fail to learn at least one new cooking tip or skill from every video you put up. I tip my wool felt Stetson to you and Shannon for all you do! God bless from Oregon.
Empanadas we’re my savior when I went on a college trip to Argentina. Anytime I was iffy on wether I’d like the food when we ate I could always order these and they’re cheap. Thanks ken. Love from Arkansas
Hand pies are a traditional thing in the British Isles and many other cultures where wheat is available. I have heard of the vodka in pie crust, it does work
I'm so happy about this one!! Thank you for giving the history and correctly pronouncing empanada :) I tried making empanadas once, but didn't feel confident with my dough. SO thank you for your advice
It’s my birthday today, and a new Kent Rollins video is one of the things I was hoping for! As a native Kansas - Kent you should make Bierocks some time!
Thanks for not stopping because of a few drops of rain. My neighbours think I’m nuts when the rain comes and I put on a hat, then keep on gardening. Rain is not a contact poison, city slickers!
"Rolling down the river" was Proud Mary with Tina Turner. But if I remember right John Fogerty wrote it and Creedance Clearwater Revival made it popular first. Great video. These look wonderful by the way. O was wanting to order the large bag of orginal blend seasong . 😋😋😋 Love you guys.
Delicious! Lehman's is an awesome store. Beautiful part of the country. Lots of great Amish restaurants and shops. If you have time stop by Der Dutchman in Walnut Creek. Blessings and Safe Travels.
Had some good neighbors from Argentina who always brought over some left over empanadas. Some just like Kent's. Others a bit tweaked. Chopped hard boiled eggs in the meat at Easter and pieces of figs and prunes at Christmas. Soooo addictive! Oh p.s. that rollin on the river song...Proud Mary..Tina Turner.
Wow, they look really good 👍 I like the way you do all this outside.Your little helpers look like the seriously approve 😊 I would love to try to make these, ty 🇺🇸🌟👍
I used to love eating these when I was a kid. I'd go in to the city to hang out with my boys, and we would go down to the corner store and grab a bunch of these, deep fried mash potato balls, rice and beans, and plantains with meat and cheese(i don't know what that's called, but delicious)... I'd buy enough food for like 8 people to munch out on and I'd spend like $12... Crazy cheap Spanish food
Glad I had my beans and rice as I was watchin' this, else I'd have probably ended up trying to deep fry something, lol. I suppose it HAS been a while since I made their larger, Slavic cousin: the cheburek.
