I'm studying to be an architect and have taken some pretty crazy physics and math classes but you unironically explained pulleys and mechanical advantage really really well.
Eli, keep the metal low friction pulleys. But try this... Waxing the string was a great idea but polish the wheels as well where the string contacts. Think of it like polishing a feed ramp in a gun barrel.
Eli, this was such a fun video!! As a non-car guy I’ve been enjoying the truck series because it shows how what started with weapon making lets you apply skills to other areas of life, just like whenever you build workout equipment. That said, this return to form was awesome! It also felt very satisfying to see you explain what you’d said previously about how for years you’d been using pulleys wrong, and see you apply them correctly. I learned a lot, this was fun, and seeing your son enjoy watching his dad was delightful. Also, I had been wondering why the videos had been a little less frequent, but I had assumed you were busy with something else, since you’d mentioned in a q&a that being marred means if you aren’t making videos, it’s NOT because you aren’t working. Now that you’re back to full time I can’t wait to see what’s next!!
Eli I’ve been watching you for 10 years now it’s crazy how long it’s been since the saw blade axe the body armor the pvc bow and man I’m super impressed with your dedication and confidence. I’m so happy that God is your focus. Keep doing what you’re doing love the videos
Hey Brotha I love your content, if you read this or not. Any project you are working film it! I personally loved the table build and truck build. Your content is amazing but your personality is the best! Happy Halloween brotha
That’s awesome Eli! Glad to hear the hard work has finally paid off (and RU-vid stopped being a stinky butt) I can’t believe that I’ve been subbed for a nearly a decade at this point!
Could try using angle iron as the main body the handle and brace are on with the "V" up to hold the arrow. Would save some material (and thus weight) and provide what you need (a channel for the bolt to ride.) second piece of angle iron across the back to hold the string ends but this time sitting up with one flat on the "V" and the other upright to provide the anchor points for the string. Could also just use a flat piece laying on the V of the main angle iron with bent up ends. Either way I love the potential in this build. If you REALLY wanted to get crazy you could anchor the string at the front where the speargun rubbers are on the ends of the Y and add two more pully's to the back (where they currently terminate) and have a "\M/" instead of "M" and double the power and speed you're currently getting and I suspect it wouldn't be much different (in sex appeal or weight) than what you're rocking now.
Glad you're doing well! Also, I actually really like the aesthetic of that build. You could fill the empty space with all sorts of cool shit, whether functional or purely for flair.
P cool, excited to see more of it. Been watching since the old PVC bows, so it's been interesting watching the evolution of your bows and crossbows and learning with you
Cool video, I like the use of mechanical advantage in making things go fast. Side note, the clip at the end made me laugh. Wish you and your family well
I’m sure you have have the most loyal fan base & we will watch any update regardless of last post so please don’t burn yourself out keep a healthy pace. Great work & god bless brother. And the algorithm likes shorts I guess.
Idk if you have seen or heard of a Hydra bow / penta bow, But what if you converted that into a crossbow design? Or honestly just you making anything with the hydra bow concept and doing something fun with it. When I first saw it I thought it looked right up your alley.
given that the base of the two outward arms of the prototype seem to be right underneath the resting position of the bearings, I wonder if you can do something to fold the arms in so that it looks sleeker while you're just wearing it
RU-vid finally released you from the Shadow realm I guess because this is the first notification I've gotten in months. It's nice to be early to a video again.
I wonder how far you could take the concept. Like, you know how much you could deadlift, and figured out a way to translate that into draw length, could you shoot out bolts that out-ranged bows?
