Fuck how old he is, he can flat out sling it, plus I made 40k off Washington futures last year thank to Penix, I’m only bummed he wasn’t a Raider, Atl got a steal
He’s 23 how is that old is it that shocking that Micah played against him as a freshman… Even if he’s 27 if he’s good for 5 years it’s a win.. People have to stop thinking everyone is going to play 20 years
@@jeffeyjeffey8it’s all about mindset though Tom Brady didn’t think at his peak there was a QB better than him or a defence he couldn’t beat because if he did when times got tough late in the game that thought would creep in and make him lose it’s all about mindset man
Exactly why Dallas doesn’t win lol. 3 years into his career and more focused on his media personality with a podcast and guest appearances than football. This wouldn’t happen in a locker room with decorated veterans but u think Dak saying anything 😂
Micah is a good sports analyst for real. Most players will go into this stuff after they retire based on popularity and personality alone. He can do it for real for real though
@tylerholt6828he isn’t better than Caleb but I’ve seen enough of him and nix to say he was definitely better than Bo nix yall just hate him because of his dad
@tylerholt6828 I can tell u don’t actually watch the games just look at stats. Oregon offense is 20 times better than Colorado and he’s definitely not more accurate than sheduer. Just because u throw to wide open receivers in college don’t mean u are accurate. Everyone thought Mac jones was “accurate” too
It's crazy how people are making such a big deal about him being 24 years old?! It's not like he's 28 or 30 years old. He's one of the few quarterbacks selected that is NFL ready. He can probably walk in and start and won't take several years to develop into a NFL quarterback.
The issue with his age isn’t his age, it’s the fact a team who just got a QB under a 4 year 180 million dollar contract took him. Penix is a good pick in and of itself, just a bad pick for the Falcons… As a Vikings fan though I’m laughing 🤣
Yes but it’s not just his age it’s his age coupled with the fact he was drafted by a team that literally just this offseason signed a QB to a lot of guaranteed money and Penix won’t start for 2 years minimum. If he was drafted to compete to start right away at 24 that makes the age less of an issue
Let penix sit for 2 years or if kirk gets hurt. They can get out of the contract in year 3, since year 4 is a void year. Im sure some team qill need a qb fkr a playoof run making kirk great to send for some draft capital.
@PBMdanya Ehhhh.. Getting a QB at the 8 spot to sit when the team has more immediate needs is crazy. I can see having a solid back up, but getting a "back up" as a lottery pick? They have immediate needs in the secondary and the OL...
@@yourname487secondary yes, but the Oline is less of a concern, several outlets have Atlanta rated as a top 10 to 5 Oline, WR and CB are the biggest issues but they can be supplemented by restructuring and signing 1 or 2 of the remaining free agents to 1 or 2 year deals, and then improved on in the next 2 drafts while Penix waits. Once Kirk is gone all that money will be paid out to the players Atlanta needs to resign so it works out, cause then we still have 3 years of his contract left if we accept the 5th year.
@Gordd_ The way Ridder was running around every play they could have fooled me lol. I thought the OLine was trash 🤣 If that's the case they still could have gotten a tough WR at the 8 spot and got a backup in the second or third round. Or am I trippin?
Nobody dislikes Penix as a player. We dislike a top ten pick on what ends up being a backup QB after the franchise tried to convince the fanbase they were in "win now" mode after giving that massive contract to Kirk. They just showed Kirk they aren't serious about giving him help to win and they showed the rest of the aging defensive line that they aren't playing for anything. This front office is a joke
I think you’re undervaluing the importance of the quarterback, sure maybe this is a poor pick if Kirk plays lights out and never gets hurt, but it’s far more likely he underperforms or does get hurt at some point in the next 3 years and this pick allows that to not result in a wasted season
@trynagocrayz12 you're basing a draft pick on if a newly signed QB is going to get hurt. That's horrible business for a football team. You don't draft a backup QB with a top ten pick! They should have never signed Kirk if they were going to do that with Penix. He's the last QB you want to sit for 3 years. And don't forget, even if Kirk gets hurt, we owe him over 100 mil so he becomes the most expensive player not playing on the team, and still can't sign valuable free agent pieces because we f'ed up the cap signing Kirk. This is football with a new head coach on an awful team planning for the future when their current jobs aren't guaranteed. They signed a QB for the next coaching staff after reaching for a QB and then a project DT that they traded away a pick to move up and get, and he wasn't going to be taken! They mismanaged this team and hoping a backup QB is the future while not addressing the obvious team needs is ridiculous.
@@comedianking83 it's really not a matter of if, but when, and kirk's deal is only 2 years guaranteed it's not a 4 year like everyone is saying, also every report has said that he was going to be taken, the dolphins raiders and rams all made attempts to trade up for penix
@@trynagocrayz12Your “when” doesn’t make any sense. You’re acting like cousins is injury prone. Sure that injury of his last season is worrisome but with his health record which is basically non existent bc Cousins is one of the iron men of the NFL up until last season, a good front office wouldn’t put their marbles into being that careful when you just paid this man $100 mil guaranteed… what you should be picking is a better defense and lineman that would protect your $100 mil QB
@@trynagocrayz12just bc every report said falcons were gonna pick penix doesn’t mean it’s a good pick 💀💀💀 you write a terrible report on something and give it to your teacher, it’s still a report right but you think you deserve an A+? Fuck no
I’m always gonna support a lefty qb bc we need some more of them in the league! Penix is a bit older than the average rookie qb but I think he could start sooner than we expect if cousins doesn’t come back as “solid” as he was bc of his Achilles. Micah is hella solid at speaking in front of the camera as well!
I don't think people hate Penix, it just, hes going to a team that might not play him for 2-3 years, and by that time, he will be 26-27 years old already. If he had went to a team that would start him next year, it wouldn't be much of an issue.
@@GandalfTheStraight Yeah but he's healthy at the moment. We don't know what to expect from Cousins. I'm not saying he the starter this year but he's better than what ever back ups they have in ATL
People are upset for the wrong reason lmao. The average age of a rookie NFL QB is 22. He’s not that much older. The problem is that they JUST paid Kirk Cousins $180M only to draft his presumptive replacement a couple months later. Not to mention Penix has TWO surgically repaired knees. I just don’t get it.
Kirk Cousins also tends to get hurt every year/every other year. Penix is a steal, even with two surgically repaired knees. Why not have him back up Kirk and be ready, in case he does get hurt?
That pick didn’t make sense though. Just signed Kirk to a 4 year 180 mil deal and drafts a qb at 8th overall when the falcons always need receivers lineman and defensive players
@@iafigueroa91 you smokin crack Caleb Williams a bust another usc bust stop and Jayden Daniels wont be good in the nfl if he don’t got a good team around him fax’s
Except for the 180 million they just paid kurk cousins and has yet to even take his first snap with the team. And Penix is NFL ready and doesn’t need to sit. And making him wait makes no sense when he won’t start till he’s 28 years old
Atlanta might not be able to draft a player as good as Penix if Cousins is any good... Also, Achilles injuries are hit or miss... Their aggression at the pick made sure the Raiders didn't get him. Even if they over paid for Cousins, they have a solution...
If they think Penix is the guy then who cares if they draft him? Don’t skip on a can’t miss guy Kirk’s career is at the end, then make the transition to Penix
@@iafigueroa91 ah yes a cherry picked film study, i don’t feel any different, he can throw from any part of the field and make completions… yes his throwing decisions aren’t the best currently but that’s what NFL coaching is for.
Someone LITERALLY just had a post like this that said ME: IM 35 with my whole life in front of me Sports announcer: here comes the oldest guy in the league...he is 32 " a miracle"
Atlanta Screwed Penix by Drafting him , He’s currently 24 and Atlanta just signed Cousins to a contract worth 180 million dollars, 100 million guaranteed for the next 4 years With a No Trade Clause . Penix will be almost 30 years old before Touching the field and he will only be a 1 and done Contract not able to make all of the money he would had made if he was drafted by a team that needed him to Play Day 1 .
As a Falcons fan this was the SMARTEST and BEST pick and decision in years if we would have done this when Matt was the QB we wouldn’t be talkin about this but since we didn’t do it like we were supposed to do and we did it this year very smart pick remember we just went through 2 years of shitty QB play wid uh roster that should have won the division 2 years in uh row everybody fails to realize we’re only tied to Kirk fa 2 years afta that we can do wateva we wanna do yes we payed him a lot of money but it was money worth it bc of the roster that we have we don’t have time to let uh rookie QB play and learn how to play in the NFL wid the roster we have now payin Kirk that money was very smart by us bc you always gonna pay fa the good quality and in those 2 years we won’t have the same opportunity to draft a franchise QB in the top 10 like we did this year bc we will be picking from 15 and lower simply bc we have Kirk so why not use ya top 10 pick on a young franchise QB let him learn and develop the right way with a great veteran player to mentor him and by his 3rd year he will be given the keys to the Lambo then very smart choice by us
@ayanamihhh219 but he had 4 season ending injuries. He might check out medically right now but 2-4 years down the line his knee or shoulder could go bad. Example, Todd Gurley. That delay arthritis is very dangerous and you have to keep getting those ligaments checks often.
@@prismatic9804 he actually never missed a game ever because of an injury until last season. The only other game he missed was in 2020 or 2021 with covid
They paid a 30+ yr old injured QB, $100M.... It was a monster pick, if you understand 70+ QBs played last year. Top10 QB room, when they had a bottom 5, last season
@@kmaterne played the game my man, still don't mean I know more or less... don't like penix- simple, that's all...these GM's out here are Total garbage alone with Penix... Led the Patriots in tackles in 1989 got a Acl em Dr's back in the day for injuries was garbage also lol David Ward my man All Pro
Finally someone who didn't hate on the Falcons taking MP and it just so happens to be a active football player. This is exactly why I don't listen to ppl who never played the sport they cover 🤷🏿♂️
Yeah they got a good player but they might as well just kept drafting quarterbacks because you just can't win with one position it was the stupidest pick of the draft. Or free agent signing of Kirk cousin was the stupidest signing of free agency one of the two
