This is a great series of TV spots with Armitage reading them. I wonder if the sales of the books he read went up after he read them in 2006? He has done the audio for several audiobooks too and I have bought the book and audiobook of "Sylvester" because he does narrates it. Amazing voice. But I am an American --we love a Brit accent.

He's so sweet and charming when he's telling a bedtime story, but wouldn't the kids be saying, "Mom, why is evil Guy telling us a story?" LOL

I don't think it will be just old clips. I think he'll be one of those actors who will age really well--like Terrance Stamp or Gregory Peck and he'll still look good (distiguished and dignified) when he's older. I'll be 80 and drooling over the 84 year old RA. That seems appropriate (and more than likely). I like your disease names. We should get jobs for one of those drug companies--making up names for their drugs. It woluldn't do us any good though, since there is no cure for this disease.
@elwren75
@elwren75 15 лет назад
You know what? I think I actually first saw him in Shakespeare Retold's version of MacBeth. RA has a very small role as MacDuff, but it was actually that character that had a very powerful impact on me. I don't know why I didn't remember that he played that part til now. In this, he has children at it is so cute. He loses his temper, but then feels bad about it and its sweet. You can find RA's clips from it on YT by searching BBC Shakespeare Retold - Richard Armitage in "MAKBETH".
@elwren75
@elwren75 15 лет назад
I think as long as we tried to act relatively normal he'd be fine. As I said before, I kinda hope he doesn't read YT. Most actors are good at being gracious to their fans as long as they don't cross lines. When I daydream, I never meet him at a premier or at the stagedoor. Its always more . . . I'm coming round the corner and he's there for some reason--with a flat tire, or doing research, or, idk . . whatever. Pathetic me!
@elwren75
@elwren75 15 лет назад
I found him through a fanvideo someone did in response to a Rufus Sewell fanvideo (whom I also like, but not as much as RA at this point). I remembered the clips from N&S and I went looking for it and found it on YT (God bless YT!). That's when the craziness started. I don't really have a favorite actor, just a top 5 actor list. Now, I think RA nearly leaves the other 4 in the dust.
@elwren75
@elwren75 15 лет назад
Yeah, I first saw him in North and South, too. I wasn't actually interested in RH until I saw that Toby Stephens was going to be in it--and then I recognized Richard's name too. How can you beat a show with both of them in it? I got netflix so I could catch up on RH and on all of the MI-5 eps, because after I found out about RH, I kept finding more things he's done too. I first say N&S here on YT. After that I had to buy the movie and its just gone on from there.
@elwren75
@elwren75 15 лет назад
I say the same thing about myself, really. Thank heaven for a screen-name. Very few people know what it is, and that makes me happy, because I wouldn't say half the stuff in real life that I let myself get away with here. YT gives me protection, and I'm grateful for that. Richard, if you are reading (ha ha), we are all harmless, I think. We just have a healthy appreciation of your talent and other great attributes.

I am sure he has had many relationships - who would say no to going out with him - come on! I agree with whoever posted that he would make a great Dad. Watching him read bedtime stories - He is in his mid-30's he should probably start soon - can you imagine how adorable his kids would be - again I just want him to be happy and keep working of course so we can all still drool over him and dream! (smile)
@pennyroyal59
@pennyroyal59 16 лет назад
I agree with you - I would rather see him in another movie like N & S - which I know he doesn't have time for with Spooks & RH3 - I hope he had scenes with Rupert Penry-Jones -then I would been supremely happy - RPJ is leaving and RA will be the new lead - love him in short hair, too. Plus RA is in a relationship - why wouldn't he be -tall, gorgeous, sex and intelligent and that voice - amazing - he is very private about it - good for him - she is a very luck, luck lady - I hope they are happy.
@pennyroyal59

on BBC America he answers fans questions - I don't know how to post it here. The questions are rather good - and he is excellent as always. Fans must know he is doing two series at the same time and one is in Hungary for six months - he is very busy and probably wants some kind of life of his own. He gives so much to all of us already. Today I listened to him read Ted Hughes letters and some other poetry - his voice is amazing

I was surfing in bed unable to sleep, and now I truly am feeling all warm and fuzzy and sleepy :-) His voice is so beautiful and his energy so clear, after a while i wasn't even listening to the words - just letting that gorgeous soothing voice sweep over me. Thanks Richard - you can tell me a bedtime story any time! Good night :-)

See the infection starts very slowly. You don't even know you have it and then all of the sudden it just takes over and you are completely, utterly obsessed with the man so that no other actor will ever be able to impress you as much as he does. What is this disease called, anyway? Armitagitis? Madafadamash? What?

But i got problem with two words: There are monsters of all sizes doing ballet exercises, wearing ? and pink ribbons in their hair. and also in:The monsters dont feel brave but now they know how to behave, so they dont ? in a raw. I know it is quite embarrassing, but i really need it. sonia from slovakia

He makes it sound so real! He's even brilliant at acting for little kids! I was actually quite scared! [I don't know whether it was his reading I was scared of or the story] But then after the GREAAAAAT CLIMAX! Richard:It was my sister KATE! Me: Oh.... *applauses his acting and smooth voice*

If you want to hear him brilliantly reading (or rather performing) an audio book for 12 hours (kid you not) try The Lords of the North by Bernard Cornwell, available exclusively from BBC audiobooks (you have to call them to order it but it is well worth it). Not for children though.

You haven't embarassed yourself any more than the rest of us! :) Besides, with Richard Armitage, how can you help it. We all suffer from a (sadly rare) disease, at least here in the US. I keep trying to spread the RA love, but it seems most of his fans are still in Britain and Europe!

I wonder if any women have drooled over a bedtime story before. I hope he becomes a father someday (if he's not already). He doesn't seem to say much about his personal life and I respect that. He must at least have nieces and nephews because he tells it perfectly!

actually, I've seen both: Vicar of Dibley is hilarious and I loved it; but Robin Hood... not so - I am attached to old tv version with Michael Pread :) I admit - the guy is handsome, but maybe the answer is: he's just not my cup of tea peace with you :)

If you really want to know AloutkaKazawa, you should watch North and South (miniseries by the BBC 2004), Robin Hood (tv show also by the BBC) and I would recommend also The Vicar of Dibley the finale eps just to start ;) Then, you'll tell us :P

I know, isn't Harry adorable?! I still think I love John Thornton the most, but that might just be because I love that intense stare of his (when he's looking out the window after the riot). OMG. Its hard not to just faint from that expression.

All right, there are now 3 generations of females in our family in love with RA. The 5 year old adores the one here. The 17, 29 and 54 year old are enraptured by the dark and dangerous RA in North and South and as Guy in Robin Hood. This man is powerful.

Telling a story about a sister he's scared of and did something that made her mad (Isabella - Robin Hood). As well as talking about dragons? (Thorin - The Hobbit) I think he was mentally trained for those future roles..

I've heard Mr. Armitage read a couple of books by Georgette Heyer and he's incredibly talented. He changes his voice to fit the characters just like this and draws you in. He's good! BTW... super HOT in N&S.

Im studying English language and this semester we are talking about stylistics, by now about phonetic devices in literature, to be precise. This story is a perfect example for that, so I tried to rewrite it as he narrates it.
