Plenty of variation in my watching so I see what you describe in content creators trying too hard to get views and the hawking around of product (Drones, bikes batteries food VPN's !! etc). Sorry if ramble here but i want to say a few things, hopefully coherently 🤣 I watched your videos years ago then i stopped but occasionally did watch ones and i started again seeing your videos. I found your videos as i used to live in Lewis, my mothers from there and im bit of a ferry, train , plane geek 😂 - i found a video you made about travelling by ferry. also the islands hold a special place for me and you as i discovered and you brought that to me and others! Honestly im sorry to hear what happened but also delighted you keep your integrity!! I feel like i got to know you and dougal from the videos! Its awesome! Honestly i think you are so on point with the nonsense that sometimes comes out of social media and its cool you refuse to follow that even if it is the hard path. I understand what you mean when you say your creativity is spent just now, you need time to take a break recharge, enjoy family other things snd the freedom:) Im glad you have that just now! You are a success for way more than because you tried! You brought us many nice videos, experiences and shared much of the Hebrides and other places too with us! All of our lives move on in different directions thats what makes us human, tying ones self to a particular genre must be draining, especially when its your livelihood . When i "found" you years ago we were just getting into motorhomes, we are now coming to the end of our caravan journey and selling up in the spring now we have a young son and want to go back abroad again. life moves on and you need to be prepared to move with it our you will become unhappy. Congratulations on your new job. Totally understand what you are saying. Ever fairly large channels struggle with the RU-vid revenue alone and are really reliant on Patreon etc. The caravan/motorhome world is quite small so even harder to monetise unless you are willing to sell your soul to the manufacturers. Even then, it is hard. But what you are doing makes a lot of sense: turn it back into a hobby. That way you can do what you want, when you want it. And if you don’t feel like it, then there is no need to do anything at all. You do still have a lot of knowledge that few people have and I am hoping you will be willing to share that with us from time to time. In the next 10 years the will be a shift to electric in camping and you are something of a pioneer in that. If your new job allows, you could even act as a consultant on those topics. For example, you should perhaps speak to the Fullychargedshow to do a talk in the Excel centre in March. It’s right here in London. And if you ever want to meet up for coffee, let me know. After all, for many, London is a lot easier to get to than Uist! (But then I guess the remoteness is what makes Uist so pretty.)

I agree with you 100% about social media, it starts as joy and ends up for a lot of people as a hamster wheel of repetitive vacant videos to make money. You are an honest man, Andrew. I have always enjoyed your videos but you have to stay true to yourself. I am also from the SE but have been living in rural Cumbria for 10 years and even this distance is a bit difficult sometimes. I know what you mean about missing the multiculturalism of a big city and I miss that so much too. Other parts of the country are beautiful and are often good places to live, but they ain't home, no matter how much you want it to be. I am a long term subscriber - I came to your channel from an aspiring minimalist perspective. Loved all your videos, the travel and the dogs. But I respect you immensely for not giving into the drive to promote rubbish. I felt very broken hearted for you, having to leave Uist, as I had found my dream home in another Celtic place, Cornwall. I hope the job works out well for you. I'm a mum with adult child returned home for a shortish period too. From those side of the fence can I just say it is wonderful to have a son around again. Hello Andrew I have been following you for many years now. In my opinion whilst people were drawn to your channel for the reviews you did, you become a person they feel they know and love. As things changed they followed you to Scotland and shared your life up there. Many RU-vidrs I follow have changed their paths totally but because I feel I know them I watch the content. It’s like chatting with an old friend some how. Often these videos are just of them talking about what horrible day they have had, or how they are struggling or how something nice has happened. Your true supporters should be there for you on the good and bad times, and give support. There are always going to be haters and greedy people sadly life is like that. If you can just block them out of your life - do it. Now you don’t need the income from RU-vid you can film what you like and I’m sure people will be interested. Take care try and eat healthy you look tired and stay safe. We love you - fly free and have fun ❤❤❤

I must say, you're already looking much happier than in some recent videos, you've obviously been needing this change for a while. You're absolutely right in what you say, having the guts to take a risk and give something a shot is never a failure. The body of quality work you've produced during these seven years, and the following you've attracted as a result, are a story of resounding success. As for future content; well I'm sure we'll all agree that quality trounces quantity every time! Personally I'd much rather sporadic updates that I know have brought YOU as much joy to make, as they do me to watch, than you draining yourself dry trying to churn out content to a timetable. Though we'll most likely never meet, I've shared so much of your life through your videos that I somehow think of you as a friend. I suspect many others feel the same. I thought of you last week while cycling behind the Mutt motorcycles place at Kings Norton. You were the driving force behind me actually getting my campervan and going to Scotland so many times that have provided so many memories. I thank you for that Andrew. I’ve always admired and enjoyed the authenticity of your videos and the complete absence of insincere clickbait (unlike other RU-vidrs with their ‘We crashed in Morocco” BS that was a mere scrape on the side of their van 🤬) The abundance of fakery from some other RU-vidrs is a sad reflection of the abuse of social media by inexperienced but self-proclaimed “experts” who really don’t know their ar$e from their elbow 😱 Your videos have been fun, inspiring, genuine and informative and I have thoroughly enjoyed them from when you first started, and indeed from the first “Caravan” magazine article entitled “Hot Stuff” IIRC 😂😂 Where you were towing with a canary-yellow Megane coupé!

Thanks to you I have to say we fell in love with the place and is probably the best holiday we’ve ever had, so can understand why you are missing it so much… I think all proper and genuine people will be on your side and support your decision. To make a living from RU-vid, very hard, there probably aren’t enough caravan RU-vid followers to give the huge number needed. But some of your videos are film making at its finest so financially not a success but artistically a massive success. Now you can make RU-vids for enjoyment without the pressure of needing to make a living from them. The shots of the dogs are joyous, getting Ted has definitely cheered Dougal up massively.
I have followed you since early days. The reason I follow you is that you are genuine and are not influenced by get rich quick route. I enjoy your content and as you mentioned Caravanvlogger and yourself don’t push things like batteries,power packs,upgrades etc. I have stopped following several channels for this reason as they are so obviously fake. Hope you get your MoJo back at some point. Recharge your batteries and give your furry friends a hug.

Certainly seems the right decision for you Andrew as you sound exhausted by Social. A point I found interesting was that you now feel you're enjoying the freedom that's came from the changes and then describe many of the things many people want to escape from to find freedom. Found that really insightful as it goes to show that there is no one choice of lifestyle that makes people feel free so they need to find their own.
Enjoyed all your videos ,I hope everything works out for you. Just curious why anyone would choose to live in London what with all the riots ,knife crime and a corrupt police force is beyond me.
