What makes this race so INCREDIBLE is that it is just the riders and the road/trail. None of the bullshit big money, team support and commercialism. This race was a true example of the human spirit. So pure. Both Stepan and Lael- hats off to both of you as well as the other competitors.
She's an extreme optimist, that's half of the reason she is so hard to beat. When everything completely sucks, she's over there saying how wonderful it all is.
Lael always looks happy even though what she is doing is absolutely insane, "I definitely overdid it." Thank you for capturing this story Rue and you did an beautiful job - even though Switzerland's landscape definitely helped!
I so admire Lael, not only for being the world class endurance cyclist that she clearly is, but also for her whole vibe, positive attitude, and tough-as-nails spirit. More people should go through life with these gifts. It'd make the world a much better place.
What a great video. I've been following Lael and her riding for a few years now and her positive attitude and contagious laughter have been such a heart warming consistency. This race in particular is simply mind blowing. Endless congratulations to her and all of the finishers. What a beautiful route. I really can't wait to see what Lael does next, every time I turn around she's blowing my mind and inspiring bigger rides. And her choice to stick with PI and specialized rings very true to my own #bikestyle . I could go on forever. Just really freaking cool.
Amazing feat to complete that distance with that much climbing and basically zero sleep. There is a reason why so few attempt this race, because it is crazy. Great job Lael for showing just how tough you are.
I think Lael is so awesome. So gutsy, talented, and has such a beautifully positive attitude toward and spirit for racing/competing. SMH. Just an amazing athlete and human being.
This event has been the first race of any kind I've ever followed to this extent. It's so mindbogglingly insane! Excellent job! Both on the great documentary and on Laels riding. Cheers from Sweden :)
Thank you Lael for your incredible optimism, you really light up my life, I’m soon if everything works out ok going to go for my first Bike Packing adventure.
Aw God at 13:17 I feel your pain. I had to climb a particular mountain 3 times in a row more or less to find my dog and I couldn't bend my legs the next day! Couldn't even sit on the toilet. Was walking exactly like that:) Well done.
I don’t think most people do not understand the Grit It takes for these individual’s to do stuff like this. This is such an inspiring story and just a phenomenal Way to make your mark on this earth.
This is a long shot but could anyone tell me the music theme that runs throughout this doco - especially at the beginning? What an incredible race and beautifully put together! Lael and Rue you are both a huge inspiration x
All of the music is originally written and created by Lael's brother, James Wilcox, for the film. So, no real name for the music. Glad you liked the film!
If Lael did a tour for old geezers like me - I would happily pay and join just to be able to experience what an incredible awe inspiring person she is!! Better get in shape just in case!
