Do Singaporeans want me to leave Singapore?! After the media backlash a few weeks back, I wanted to clear some things up with you all. I can't emphasise enough that what I share regarding moving to Singapore, is based on my own experiences only. I've said nothing but good things about this country and will always encourage others to come and visit Singapore, to experience everything it has to offer. I won't forget how supportive and welcoming my viewers and subscribers have been since I moved to Singapore and I can't thank you enough for that. Please don't be discouraged by the article :( I'm quite sure majority of the people (including myself) have never come across/read that article, because we know that the site is just full of extremist, anti-government propaganda bullshit. I was quite shocked when I read the title of your video as Singaporeans are usually very welcoming and friendly. And I don't think any of those nasty commentators would dare to go up to your face and harass you; they are merely keyboard warriors who are just using this opportunity to lash out. So just ignore them - out of sight, out of mind! I had stumbled upon your channel a month back, from your 'Foreigners Try Speaking Singlish' videos, and have faithfully watched all your videos since then as it's really interesting to view Singapore from another perspective. I myself is from Singapore. Seeing those articles are just full of bullshit. I know I'm Singaporean but sometimes other Singaporean just got nothing better to do but to destroy someone's life. To a rather some group of disgusting people out there, expats are known to milk the immigration system and very often have little to no intentions of ever laying down roots, assimilating, integrating or further contributing to the local economy. (There have been quite a number of high profile cases of foreign nationals given scholarships or preferential treatment only to leave after a couple years criticizing Singapore and bragging about how they did it) Some applaud them for standing up for the misplaced citizens but hey, there's always going to be a movement of folks who would push the anti-immigrant agenda as we have witnessed happening in the US and UK. Singapore witnessed something similar way back in the 2011 general election and the government definitely made things better for their citizens with the hire Singaporeans first initiative so I really don't understand what more do these disgusting people want? You know you just can't satisfy everybody. You did everything legally and with your own merit. Singapore would be nothing without immigrants or just hardworking people in general. Haters are always gonna hate!

Coming from a Singaporean, that website is bullshit and should just die out. Its just full of useless opinion commentaries trying to stir shit (create trouble) out of nothing. But at the same time your article is quite misleading too 🤔 We don't want expats gone... a huge percentage of the workforce is made out of foreigners. Besides, skills are more important that "hiring a Singaporean or expat" even if there are quotas.

Most people in Singapore don't even read those sites because we know that it's extremely biased with lots of click bait articles that sensationalize non-news. Don't worry about it. I can't believe it's been 2 years since you moved. I've been following your journey since you first announced your move to Singapore. I'm heartbroken to know that you've been put in a position where you've felt unsafe but I'm glad you're feeling a lot better now. All I can say is, yes the older generation has a little more traditional way of thinking etc, but in general, we're pretty welcoming people. Plus, the law protects every single individual against racism so there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of. Expats help to boost the local economy so really, why are we complaining? 😜

I've been living in Singapore since 2001, so I basically grew up here. I really related to this video since I went to local school and was the only white girl in my class. Everyone was either leaving me out of group activities or bullying me in general, while teachers always expected more from me just because I came from Canada. Now i'm 19 and have lived with that my whole life, but it doesn't affect me anymore since i've gotten pretty used to stupid small comments. Just keep your head up and don't let the idiots of the internet let you down. You'll constantly feel like everyone's eyes are on you and judging you, but in reality theres nothing to fear! There are a lot of more welcoming Singaporeans so just listen to them instead of the negative ones.

Please don't be afraid. You should never be afraid in Singapore, and i'm really sad that you did. Many of these people are keyboard warriors who need to target someone to feel better about themselves. They're just really sad people who are ultimately afraid and insecure of their own value. Foreigners will always be welcomed here, as long as they're decent and contributing. And you definitely are. :)

i've started watching your vlogs lately and if anything, it makes me proud to be singaporean and have a newfound appreciation for the country i have lived in all my life. I can assure you that the mean comments you received were simply coming from a vocal minority and they chose you as a target simply because you were a sensation. They probably never even took the time to watch one of your videos and appreciate the value you brought to this country. I, for one, welcome you to stay here for as long as you like.

Although I have not subscribed to your chanel, I watched it every time I can and immensely enjoy your videos. All of us are foreigners to Singapore, even someone like me who is born and raised here. The more civil older generation is going going... and we see on the landscape people who are born in purple, feeling entitled and just too loud and vocal. It is so sad that an amazing person like you has been attacked by trolls but this does not represent Singapore - just some negative and unfeeling people. I never ever ever ever ever comment on RU-vid videos but.... it's such a shame you experienced this! I'm not surprised at all, but be encouraged that you have inspired so many Georgia. When I first found out I was moving to Singapore over a year ago I was initially nervous as an expat; moving to a new country, cultures etc but your videos are one of many things that put me at ease. Keep doing what you're doing lovely (parden the welshyness) as you're continually encouraging people to aspire to a life in Singars. I've grown to love this country and there are so so so so so many beautiful here that clearly love and support the passion you share. Aiyoh Georgia. Very pai sey you had to experience this but like everyone has said, don't bother about such click bait websites. They write such articles to boost the number of visits and then make more money subsequently. Unfortunately, by reacting to them, you've inadvertently drawn more attention to them. Still, most locals know to read such posts with a (pretty hefty) pinch of salt so don't worry eh. I've been enjoying your perspective of Singapore tremendously. Happens in Australia, too. Major F off back to Britain for myself and British colleagues. Actually told that several times by Brisbane colleagues., way less qualified than me!! I am a Registered Nurse of 35 years experience, a Registered Midwife, a qualified Ophthalmic Nurse, a qualified Neonatal nurse, was working on a Neonatal ICU. Have a Masters Degree in Psychotherapy and specialise in Bereavement Care and support. Just insecurity from them, not wanting, and actively refusing, to learn from our more advanced Research led Care. Left as I hated the job there. Now happy, happy, happy in France with amazing, friendly, lovely people

Feeling very sad and sorry that you have to experience this incidence. These people whom are very outspoken are usually the ones very spread negatively and hateful comments. Hi Georgia, I'm so sorry you had to go through what you did. It's just terrible and vile. All Singapore Stuff and The Independent have a reputation for being 'fake news', almost like the Daily Mail, but with an added dash of idiocy. Amusingly enough, I stumbled across your channel while pursuing a degree in the UK, and it actually helped allay some of the home sickness. I am a Singaporean who has lived in 3 different countries in 3 different continents so far and I would say that racism is everywhere like it or not, esp. with the ease of use of social media. One particular incident that I remember very well happened in Paris, France where I was living and working at that time. I was having a great time working alongside a French woman when she suddenly told me that most French weren’t happy to see expats snatching away their jobs. She said that I shouldn’t be in Paris at all and advised me to go home, so she can replace me. Whilst I was shocked at her sudden remarks, I realized that being a minority in a foreign country I will always be unwelcome by some of the locals. Nevertheless, I have legal rights to live and work there and any offended locals will just have to accept that. It’s not my fault that the company chose me for the job instead of a local.

A bit late, well quite a bit late but I applaud you for getting these feelings off your mind and into a video to help others understand what you went through. Remember that people who are happy in life have no desire or need to live in negativity, spread rumour, hate or lies about others. Happy people enjoy lifting others up. Unhappy people want to bring everyone down; hence the saying 'Misery loves Company'. The person that wrote the story about you must be very unhappy to have published such nonsense and mean spirited attacks. Don't ever allow others mean nature get a hold of you. I am a Tunisian living in Singapore after living for 10 years in France. I must say, in Singapore I experience probably 100000000 times less racism than in France. There is definitely xenophobia in Singapore which most of the time is just noticeable in social media, in Europe I experienced pure hate which is a horrible thing to experience and changes your character and your behaviour.

*Long read, scroll away if you are not interested :) In my opinion, the problem about Singapore is the sudden change of culture. From the rather "traditional"/ "old fashioned" mindset of foreigners coming into MY country to the younger/ youthful/ open minded of welcoming anyone and experiencing a nice culture exchange. All of which changed in less than 15years? Not to mention the introduction of the great internet

The websites, as you probably already know, are set up to be divisive and stir up negative sentiments in Singapore. There's absolutely no need for you to explain yourself. I'm sorry you had to go through this and I do hope you're not too affected by this. The rational and sane Singaporeans know better that you are not anything like what the crazy websites say you are. I think the comments are just what people want to say . Currently 55 percent of the people in singapore are not born or raised in singapore. Makes true blue singaporeans unhappy we need to compete with foreigners for jobs. These foreigners will eventually abandon singapore and will be like a place where people come in just for the money and leave when they don't earn enough or when hk or some other cities gives them better salary. I am so ashamed to be called a Singaporean. Honestly there are a lot of bull shit news or websites out there. Please don't be bothered with them. You working here means you are contributing to our economy. Means to help our country grow. Yes you are right MOM will do the necessary checks to ensure that companies are able employ foreigners, if the company is not able to find Singaporean to take up the job or if there is a skill or talent that you will have that Singaporeans do not (among other reasons). Take care of yourself. Don't let this affect you!

Hey, I'm sorry you had to go through that. There are a lot of click-baity articles around here in Singapore, parody sites and whatnot. All Singapore Stuff is known for their bullshit articles that use clickbait titles and they tend to twist words to only show one side of the story. I've been following your channel for quite a long time now and I know that you've never spoke bad about our country. Hello! I'm a Singaporean and I don't usually leave or read comments in public post that shown on social media as there were so many unrealistic and brainless remarks out there which will just dampen my mood somehow. I have been following your channel just before you came to Singapore and found your videos pretty cool. Those people that used your video to comment could be those whom trying to create trouble and make the government system in question, esp sensitive issues on job opportunity for foreigners... those could be supporters of anti-government so it's actually pretty common topics during election period. So, don't take it to heart :) Hope your stay in Singapore will still be an enjoyable one.

Goodness, this video was 3 years ago now. As an overseas Singaporean, we’re now living in a difficult time where just by being Asian could get you punched, harassed and spat at by white people in western countries. How far civil behaviour has fallen off the cliff with this virus. Be glad that you are in Singapore and that you will not have to face such horrid threats to your safety.
