I'm 27 and quit my job last year, took a leap of faith with my web design & marketing skills and moved to the Philippines. Best freaking decision I've ever made. I don't miss the rat race at all. My social life and quality of living has increased with a lot less effort.

As an european i always ask myself about the health care in these countries. I wish i could live there and bring my german hospitals with me. Here its not really livable as the rat race is capped unlike in the US, as far as i have seen it there. You make more money? you pay more taxes. You make alot more money? you pay alot more fcking taxes. There is no motivation to work and people rather stay at home and receive "Bürgergeld" and even the EU is calling Germany out on creating a lack of motivation to work at all. I dont want to sit on the shoulders of the Society (of which 20% are providing for the other80%). As soon as I get my cheap education here i will move out of this hole and get either to Switzerland near German border to inflate my moneys worth or i go completely elsewhere. People here are unhappy, the society is cold, you are weird if you speak to random people. Its just not my country i think even tho im born here. I was shock when I was in the US and had in a day more convos with random people than in a month in germany. And before somebody hates me for having these problems as they are rather small compared to problems others have. Yes, theoretically I live well here. My Family owns 5 Mercedes, im living in a House in an area where the upper middleclass to rich people live. Dont hate me but think about it. I should be doing well and be free of Problems. I am not happy and I am desperate for a change.

@@Zlotyi-7 That's exactly why I think I would like it. It's a trade that will always be important. Being able to build a home is such a valuable thing. I'm sure you can find work anywhere in the world. I'm currently a videographer, I enjoy all the shoots I do, every day is different but when I edit I feel very demotivated even though I am good at it. I prefer being active. My work is going well and I'm happy but I'd love to learn carpentary. I peruaded my friend who is an electrician to get into carpentary instead recently. He thinks it's a great idea.

Here in America people are working overtime cause 40 hours a week isn't cutting it. They call you lazy for not wanting to work 50, 60, 70 hour weeks. Slave mentality. I like work, it's good for you. But if it were up to me I'd do 28 hours a week, not 40+.

That's so crazy, I hope the situation will change for you guys, but I feel like as long as there's division (meaning people calling you lazy for not wanting to spend every second of your life at work), change might be hard. And the fact that the US is a big country with states with different laws, I understand why it's hard to unionize and make things change. But it's not impossible, people just need to understand that 40+ hours a week is simply wasting your life, and giving it away to rich people who don't work as hard as you do

one of the main goals in life is to find a profession that you truly love. The money will come automatically as you evolve in your passion/craft. Dont be discouraged by not figuring out everything from the get go or dont liking your salary. Your salary should not matter in your younger years. Use the time to find the right profession, evolve and get specialized. Later in life when you start a family you wont have the time and freedom anymore to figure things out.
@ShahinNova
@ShahinNova Месяц назад
To be honest, that's a smart decision. Personally, I have always preferred jobs with a better schedule and more free time over jobs with a higher salary and a more complicated schedule. And usually, they tend to be less stressful too. Free time is the ultimate goal. Good for you, and keep protecting your soul😄🤘

@@yamina444 lmao. And when youre 40 you will depressive for the rest of your life. Search for a good man who has income for a family and have kids. You will be much happier, even at high age because youll have kids and grandkids. Quitting your job as a single is so stupid. If youre that unhappy with it, improve yourself and look for a different one. But as I said: Your main mission at your age should be finding a man and starting a family. This communism bs ruins and degenderates modern society. There is nothing more important than stable families for a healthy society. Elites dont want that, because they dont want independent and strong families they cannot control. I'm 33 now and it took me long enough to realize that. Hope you learn something from that. Good luck and remember my words.

This video got recommended to me at an interesting time. Just came to a similar conclusion myself - that working less is the way to go. The last few years have ironed the economic ambition out of me. I just want peace and some level of enjoyment in life. That's what's important to me now. So I intend to work 4 days a week, 40h instead of 50h. I doubt my job will allow it as it's quite high-pressure, so I'll probably have to find a new one. I live alone as well and don't come from money - I send cash to my family so they can live every now and then and will likely have to do that more in the coming years. I can't not work entirely. But I'd love to work just a few days a week, to be honest. 15-25h a week would be WONDERFUL. Best of luck to you and I hope I'm able to follow suit and survive without giving all of my waking life into my job
@yamina444
@yamina444 Месяц назад
Omg...!!! I really hope you're going to find something. We really shouldn't live this way, I don't know who decided it should be. I mean I know, we didn't work this much back in the time because we didn't have the comfort we have today. But when you look at certain things (UberEats, the latest iPhone, buying clothes all the time..), do we really need this? When you really think about it, no we don't. So okay, we get more things in the 21th century, but if it's to be a slave of capitalism in exchange, I really don't want it. But more and more people decide to chose living a simpler life, and they're happy this way. Happiness can't be bought, I mean, I tried to fill the void by buying useless things, it doesn't work, we need community, love, support, healthy food, good sleep (that you can't have when you work this much), spending time in nature, doing things we enjoy. I will pray for all of us hahaha

I'm 25 from America and haven't had a job since 2021. For a while it wasn't by choice, had a series of events unfold that left me without a car for around a year, which you need in America due to car centric city design. So I had to live off my savings which were going to go toward buying my own house. When I tell people I'm 25 and live with my parents they think I'm lazy, which is funny because it isn't all that uncommon literally anywhere else in the world besides America. Fortunately this is changing, unfortunately the only reason it's changing is because my generation can longer afford the ridiculous house prices. My dad has medical issues and my mom works so I have to take care of things around the house that he can no longer do, and while I could probably still find time for a job, why TF would I want one? My dreams of owning a house will probably never be realized, divorce rates are sky high so marriage is a gamble, what kind of a future do I have to look forward to? Working overtime every day to make rent, with no time leftover to enjoy life? What kind of a life is that? You're just a slave at that point. I'm overblowing it a bit, but with all the technological advancements we've made why is a 40 hour work week with overtime still the standard? You're trading your time for money, and NOTHING is more valuable than time. What is the point of having money if you're always at work? It may sound like I'm complaining, but I'm perfectly content on just getting by on cheap noodles. Many others in my generation are starting to wake up as well, and are no longer buying into the dead idea of the American dream. Something needs to change or many more young people like myself are going to give up and stop caring.
@yamina444
@yamina444 Месяц назад
Wow, everything you wrote is EXACTLY how I feel, truly. Time is so precious, you're right, what's the point of exchanging it for money if you can't even enjoy your money because you barely have free time for yourself? And what you're doing for your family IS WORK! We need to redefine what work is, because I feel like what the corporate world mean by work is just feeding some multi billionaire pockets. And what's the point of working if your job doesn't serve the world? So many important jobs that are underpaid but yet, the world needs them (people who clean streets, the medical world cause here in France they're underpaid), firefighters etc.. And they complain about unemployment? How about we give less hours to people so instead of someone working 40 hours a week, we divided it and 2 people can benefit from these 40 hours : they both work 20h a week, for a decent salary that can make sure you're living with dignity. How about that? I don't see why we need to be working so much especially when you think about bullshit jobs where people get depressed about not doing anything.

I think you made a good decision. A little is enough. I also worked a job where I got paid very little and they needed staff. I also quite in the 2 month like ?trial? (not sure what it's called). Working too much for me really tires me out and occupies my whole time, because even after getting home I'm still exhausted. I have been working a lot of different jobs now. Ive been working as a pizza chef, kinder garden assistent, bartender, shoe store seller and wardrobe boy. I agree it sucks your soul, though I have had some fun times as well. The way the world evolves around money and capitalism has stolen so much of initial human values I think. I wish to live on as little as possible working on my own projects, trying to be more self-sustainable. This way maybe one can escape the "normal" and in my eyes horrible way of living. In another perspective, the modern work system really allows almost any interest to become your job, so if you are really into gardening you can become a gardener og if you really like studying some specific thing like planets and stars, you can get a job in space exploration. If you manage to get a job where you are not doing it for the money, I think it's good. But for most that is not the reality.

I truly hope you’ll become self sufficient one day. It’s so sad, when I look at my future, the only thing I know for sure, is that I don’t want to work somewhere where I feel like my soul is dying a little bit each day. And I didn’t talk about this aspect but maybe I should in a next video, but colleagues at work (or some of them) have such a childish mentality. Gossiping all day about people, really? Is that the person you want to be? It doesn’t only take your physical energy (bc in my opinion it’s the less wort), but it takes your mental energy, and that to me, is very precious. I dream about living in the middle of nature, having my own garden and animals, living with my family, and I hope one day it will be possible

@@yamina444 That you have become aware that you don't want to continue selling your soul for money is maybe the biggest step. So from here it will only go the right direction hopefully. I can imagine at a place like sb, but what can you do about other peoples mentality? very little. If they are given advice they don't seek they will likely just be irritated. I def see your point. luckily it's their life and not yours. Keep making your videos, maybe someday they will watch it and learn a new perspective. Meanwhile inspiring others.
