THE SONG HE WAS WRITING AT THE BEGINNING WAS THE FALL OMG!! He talked about the scariness of a blank page and how hard it was to come up with a song idea; "these words are supposed to be simple, but it seems that's not the case; this page is staring back at me, I'm afraid to put a mark on it's face"
Watching this after What’s Wrong to get some inspiration for my own music, and that was a REALLY good video. The fact that that first part is him explaining the lyrics from The Fall is amazing. Seeing Josh’s creative process is so helpful
Odds are you will never see this comment but I just think you are such an all around beautiful human being. This was so calming to watch despite the anxiety of the pressure to write a song. So cool to see how this project blossomed into the music it is today. Thank you for sharing this video with the internet and your soul with the world. You're cool people.
I love how The Fall's meaning is about creating with nothing but a blank page, and is also half•alive's first song. it really sets the mood for the entire band up until now!
@Michael Petrila you got really lucky to have found him and probably watch him grow to where he and the band are now Also, @Josh Taylor I doubt you’ll see this but I love yours and half alives music and it’s helping me through a lot right now, thanks
This was quiet and introspective and seemed very personal; it was oddly beautiful, which I did not expect from a vlog. This is an old video but I just thought I'd let you know how much I enjoyed it. Also, I had no idea there are gondolas in Long Beach during Christmas time.
I am completely in love with this video; the music between parts, the process of putting together the initial “skeleton” of the song, all of it. “You see that? That’s a blank page.” is my favorite part. People put so much pressure on themselves to put /something/ on the paper, and it /needs to be good/; anything else is unacceptable! But things always start out as a mess, it’s just a matter of refining it. With the way society is today, there’s also the increased pressure of whether something is profitable in a monetary sense as well. It has to be good IMMEDIATELY. Yikes. It’s like being thrown in the water, but you don’t know how to swim, so you’re just desperately trying to at least keep your head above the surface so you can breathe.
Uhhhh. If you can do this with music, I cannot wait til to see your finito career choice accomplishments, man child! Keep living in the heart & thank you!!!
I love it when artists take us through the process of creating their craft. Don't know if you realize, but it's motivating more people than you think, Josh. Keep it up, you got support from all over :) God Bless
This video was made two days after I turned 18. I was writing my own songs a world away in China. Now I’m an artist manager partnering with independent artists, trying to help them get their music out into the world. I bet it was scary sharing this video and showing people not just your songs but your process. It’s so cool to look back and see the genesis of it all.
Hi Josh, I really love your music. But most people are saying that you copied Twenty One Pilots. Is that true? Personally, I don't believe that. I'm sorry if this offended you 😞. Keep up the good work! I think your band has a lot of potential to become big! 💙😃
wowie gumplez I mean you don’t need to be very smart to see that they clearly did not copy twenty one pilots. Other members of the clique are immature and just want to start drama.
@@whosthatpanda7935 Know this is a late reply but you could clearly see where Josh was taking a bit of inspiration from Tyler Joseph -the similarities in the fall were no coincidence . I still love that song and love Josh but it just shows him developing. :)
