Over here in texas, all summer long this is what at least i do. Only thing that i do differently is i wade out to the second sand bar and and use a popping cork cork with a 4-5ft liter line, those huge trout r normally in really deep water. I go somedays and could limit out on trout all over 20+ inches.
Ive spent hours/days/months this year fishing from Galv to Sth Padre trying to catch a Gator Spec. But tho Ive had a lot of 20"+ even a 29" I couldnt get a 30". But took my dad out 2 weeks ago on my boat just out from 61st pier and had a 32"!! At 5am on a chunk of ladyfish when I was after big Reds! Sometimes they just surprise us!
I've been fishing Sabine Pass all summer and it's few and far between to break 20" over here.. for me at least.. lol I'd like to try out there around Galveston sometime..
North Padre Island fisherman, my favorite part of any video is the GENTAL release of a fish WATCHING it swim away!! Try filming the release instead of the toss? You are my favorite channel!! ❤️❤️
Hey princess poppy! Just wanted to say that in addition to being a fan, your non monetized video of your journey really was very impactful on my life. God does things in ways that, no matter how hard I try to figure out or predict, always remind me that He’s in control, even when it seems to me that no one is…. Thanks for sharing that story. It was very timely in my life. And I’m old!!!
Salt Strong Insider here...bought a crap load of gear.... Bought the "2 for 1" Moonwalker...gave 1 to my Bro in law....then thought...."I need 2 for myself" and ordered another...and some other stuff!... Great business...Great quality!
Same, here. I've been super impressed with the guys, their knowledge, the community page, discounts, etc. The soft plastics just work. I was really glad to see Matt team up with them.
Good times! I recently took the boat out from Corpus Christi way down south in intercoastal canal. Found where the bank was washed out from a barge tug turning around. Started casting frozen chubs and it was non stop action on specs and reds. I have never before been worn out fishing. But arms got so tired I finally put my rod down and just help wife and kids. It was fantastic!
I'm always envious of the beaches you get to fish. You always seem to be in clear water with great structure. Nice gettin' those trout with the float rig.
Fantastic video Matt what a day on the beach catching trout one after the other like that enjoy your enthusiasm so much love the way you're always so upbeat and excited keep up the great content God has blessed you with this knowledge and so glad you share it👍
Hey! I just did some fly fishing from the beach. (I'm in Oregon, much bigger surf to deal with). Did not do great, but did catch a couple small ones. I think you have a better chance of catching a big fish from your neck of the woods.
Princess Poppy! Need to do more popping cork in surf. Has been difficult in the past here in NC w/ harder surf conditions. Could also just be horrible at it.
Great video! Appreciate the breakdown of your rod and tackle. I know you emphasized that "size 2" circle hook, but it seems a bit bigger than the size 2 I know, is it a 2/0?
The new hair style is giving you that Princes Poppy look. 🤣Good to see you're still expanding your fishing style. They say most fishermen started with a bobber, hook and live bait and, as they get older, they return to the simpler style that hooked them on fishing to begin with
Great vid! I love the keeping it real aspect. You know we have a princess poppy up here in helen georgia. She is in her 50 's now but still a wonderful lady just as her mom was. I guess all small towns have their characters I know ours does!
Gotta say Princess Poopy is enjoyable. Fishing with bobbers in that manner is a lot like Crappie/Blue Gill fishing for the fresh water guys. Great looking trout you made that look easy.
My visit to Gulf Shores this year only lasted 3 days and wasn’t able to take time to get live shrimp, but it’s on the agenda for next year when we get back down to Fort Morgan. Stay bummy princes poppy.
Well done! Keep the awesome videos coming! Next time you are up north I’d be glad to take you fishing! Striper run spring of 2023, I’ll clear my schedule! Tight lines bro!
In my area in Texas, we get a few times when the surf is full of trout. Ended up with three nice ones last time I was out. 18, 19 and 22 inches. Lost a giant, spit the hook when I got her to me, had to be 28 to 30 inches. This is my favorite way to fish. I will use silver spoons and catch the heck out of em.
Hello Princess Poppy! I enjoy your videos so much Matt. I enjoy watching videos of people who LOVE what they do! Makes the them so much more fun to watch and learn! I have learned so much about surf fishing from these videos. I'm going to purchase the instructional video soon too.
princess poppy.... love the videos. I don't get to do any beach fishing in my area. However I am headed to SW FL at thanksgiving time and I'm looking to spend some time fishing on Ft Myers Beach...
Princess Poppy! And as the usual great video and great vibes Beach Bum. I'm really hoping to catch some great fishing when I come to the Destin area in October.
Awesome video as usual I’m on golf shores for the week that storm rolled through lastnight and got nothing but catfish but will have a line in the water every day I’m here
I tried the surf for the first time this morning in PCB. Crystal clear water and I saw some redfish cruising, but couldn't get them to bite. Power Prawn, spoon, slam shady...nothing. Did catch some bait size whiting (4-7"), and didn't see the redfish again. Any suggestions on how to catch those in clear water? TIA Love the videos and helpful advice....Princess Poppy.
Princess poppie huh. Sounds good to me. Love when there is a lot of action. Here in the Midwest perch/bluegill offer a great time like your trout today.
