Monica and Chandler were never supposed to be the main storyline, this was only supposed to be a "London thing". But because of the audience's reaction when Monica popped up from under the covers, the writers decided "hey, this could be something." So they went with it, thankfully :)

The era of Mental Gellar begins..

Emily's actress (Helen Baxendale) became pregnant between seasons 4 and 5, which made it suddenly _very_ awkward to have her appear physically moments after the wedding (the scenes in the chapel and just outside it were filmed during season 4). As a result, she barely appears during season 5, and her belly is conspicuously covered whenever she does. The shot of her at the end of episode 1 at the airport is composited from older footage, which is very noticeable on a rewatch.

i remember seeing season 3-5 back to back on tv in the early 2000s in syndicaiton and my sister saw it back to back when it was on netflix and she couldn't believe they lost emily out of the cast so fast :P

These episodes are some of my favourites. The humor with Ross/Emily/Rachel and Chandler & Monica. They were only supposed to be a one night thing but the response from the audience was huge so the producers decided to change that. The close-up shots of Emily at the airport were filmed elsewhere because the actress, Helen Baxendale, was pregnant in real life (which is also why she appears so little in the episode). You can see the body double for a split second when she turns around to leave. Fun fact: Jennifer Aniston is actually half Greek (on her father's side) and lived in Greece for a year.

All that Chandler had to say was “I have to go to the bathroom.” Perfect excuse to get out of that conversation lol 😂

Fun fact: the actress who plays Emilly was pregnant around that time and she couldn't be in the show anymore and the writers didn't know how to get her outta the show, and David (Ross) in one scene the own actor accidentally said rachel instead of emilly it "wasnt" scripted, I mean it was in the weeding scene but David accidentally called emilly "Rachel" and the writters had the brilliant idea of Ross saying the wrong name at the altar, funny how if David Schwimmer hadn't call Emily Rachel we actually could never had the iconic moment in the altar, maybe they would get rid of her with her cheating on him or getting pregnant and he not being the father or something idk But Imo the worst mistake was bringing her back to the show, they should've just get rid of her and that's it, instead they brought her back and made her so possessive and made Ross such loser doing everything she commended him to do like a puppy doggy... I didnt like that tho, btw Ross is in a rampage this season

I live for that moment as soon as Emily and Ross get out of view of prying eyes and witnesses, Em unloads the two-fisted body blow into Ross's mid-section like an unsanctioned Octagon cage fighting savage. I love how we all love Ross, he's our pact, fam for life and we all completely are Team Emily on this one. It's pretty glorious when you have a new character from abroad go-n-haul off and absolutely decimate one of America's six most beloved sitcom leads, and we are on Emily's side. I remember seeing this the night it season premiered with our weekly Friend's watch party group and literally everybody applauded. Love our boy, Red Ross, but dude you had that one comin'. Still plays awesome.

Ive been in *Emily's* place, Ladies dont stay with the guy or try to fight for him when He's obviously still has a cursh on an ex whose a friend still. Not good. I dont see why people dont like Emily, as a oppose to what people thought of her as a obstacle between Ross & Rachel, and have no empathy towards Emily. I feel so bad for her that's heartbreaking

I think Ross reacted as nonchalantly as he did because he was still in shock/dazed about his predicament, so it didn't hit him as much as it would have before the wedding. It was like his whole situation was so unbelievable that Rachel's confession couldn't really add to it. I think Monica was right to encourage Rachel not to tell him because, whilst he said it was nice to know, it would make it harder for him to work on his marriage if he got the chance. Rachel's feelings would be in the back of his mind, making him more conflicted, knowing the one friend his wife may have trouble with him being around is in love with him, making Emily's concerns even more valid than if he'd just said the wrong name at the alter. He'd knowingly be friends with someone who was in love with him, who he has a past with, whic wouldn't be very respectful to Emily. At least if Ross didn't know how Rachel felt, he wasn't intentionally keeping an ex around when there are still open feelings.

I don't feel bad for Rachel in the slightest because it is her fault she keeps going after this man only when he's taken. that is entirely her own fault and I don't feel bad for her that she put herself in this position. Nobody did this to her she did it to Emily and Ross. She is in no way a victim of anybody but herself and everybody else is also a victim of her selfish self-indulgent actions.

The most unrealistic thing about this show is how, consistently, all these people who live in New York City don't seem to understand what door locks are. And this after MANY bad experiences "forgetitng" to lock their doors. Makes them seem like inhuman mannequins instead of people.
