Aldrich is the sludged ass on the floor. Its the torso holding the staff is the half devoured corpse of a Moon God named Gwyndolin. Gwyn's feminine son.
No he will not. Friede is so easy to stagger. He uses the greatsword which means He can stagger her out of moves. Gael or the demon prince will Show him pain 😅
@@TheDarkBorne Gael will be more or less trivial because he's quite easily staggered by a weapon like the Greatsword... So he's going to breeze through the rest of this game :( gonna be quite boring tbh.
okay!!! this time i get to chat about aldrich, a little more about pontiff, a brief mention of the last parties in the great war, and gwyns 4 children!! this is a BIG lore day, but its gotta be covered for full context of what happened since you missed the first game so again, the big players in the great war were gwyn, creator of lightening and lord of sunlight, seath the scaleless, a feeble archdragn who progressed the research of sorceries in order to seek the immortality all his other kin were born with, and izalith, mother of pyromancy and her chaos daughters, who ended up creating the chaos flame and spawning demons by accident with gwyn. there were 2 other major players in that war however. one was nitto, the first of the dead. he's really not much more than a cool creepy skeleton who wields spells that spread covid. the last major party to fight the dragons however is EXTREMELY important, despite almost never being mentioned in the lore, and that's the furtive pigmy. the furtive pigmy is the one who possessed the dark soul and split it up and shared it with the rest of humanity, and despite the fact that gwyn is the one who ruled humanity during the golden age of fire, its the PIGMY who can be said is the true progenitor of man. the one who gave us our humanity. that's pretty much all we know about him from the first game, but its important to note for later. for context with aldrich, it's important to know about gwyns 4 kids. gwyn's firstborn son inherited the power of dragonslaying lightning from his father and became known as a dragonslaying god of war. however, during the war, he betrayed gwyn and left the war altogether after making friends with a dragon. gwyn, outraged, disowned and destroyed any trace of his eldest sun from the anals of history, to a point where we don't even know his name, and every statue of him was smashed apart. the clan of the warriors of sunlight worship the first born however, and alters the warriors of sunlight pray to are all smashed statues of said war god. again, lightning is the bane of dragons in this universe, so keep that in mind if you ever see something that suggests otherwise. we don't know the order of birth for the other 3, but they are named gwyndoline, gwynevere, and filianore. filianore we know NOTHING about at your point in the game. gwynevere is a beautiful woman with big boobs. the room with the 3 silver knights in irithil before pontiff actually has a painting of her and one of the knights is looking right at it if you're curious what she looked like. the point is however, she was worshipped as the goddess of beauty and fertility. Anor Londo is actually an area copy pasted from the previous game, it's been transported here as part of the "transitory lands of the lords of cinder converging" so it was part of the terraforming that happened after the new lord of cinder refused his duty and caused this game to happen. you actually met and spoke to her in the first game IN annor londo (kind of). after the passing of gwyn and anor londo becoming dark and gloomy, she left and we don't know for sure what happened to her after that. the prevailing theory however is that she became the wife of oceirus and became the queen of lothric, but we aren't sure. only a couple pieces of evidence hint at that as a possibility the most important child for TODAY'S discussion however, is gwyndoline. gwyndoline is born male, but has an affinity for the moon and lunar sorceries which is EXCEEDINGLY rare in males and more common in females. nobody is really sure how gwyndoline thinks of himself, but we know that gwyn treated them and raised them as a daughter because of this lunar affinity. gwyndoline is quite androgynous in appearance and in voice, so there's no real way we will ever know whether they are a he or a she. anywho, they are EXTREMELY loyal of gwyn and the rest of the loyal family despite any complications with their gender, and guarded gwyns empty grave in anor londo for countless years until we slayed them in the first game. now that context is out of the way, onto aldrich. aldrich was bassically a super corrupt priest. he discovered that he could strengthen himself by canibalising people in a similar way to how you consume souls to level up, but more disgusting. he became the head of the cathedral of the deep, and his worshipers who worked there as deacons were the deacons of the deep that you fought earlier. for reference, that giant cube in the middle of the boss fight was aldrich's tomb. anyway, during his life, aldrich opened an orphanage for children... who were actually just raised for him to eat, like cattle. he would also send evengalists to nearby settlements to preach about how great he was and ask for sacrofices and also pick up more children for the orphanage (this is what the big lady's in the undead settlement are, and the road of sacrofices is the path from the settlement to the cathedral). only 2 children ever escaped from the orphanage, and they are anri and horace (you pretty much missed their entire questline, but its DEEPLY connected to aldrich as they try to slay him since he got resurected by the bell). anywho, aldrich ate so many people, that he bloated like a pig, and ceased to become human and instead turned into a still sentient and all powerfull sludge thing. he was such a mennace, that he was thrown INTO the first flame as part of a revolt, as a method of GETTING RID OF HIM. and so he became a lord of cinder not through virtue, but through fear. NATURALLY, he didn't feel like linking the fire again, and fucked off to do his own thing once he got ressurected. he never intended to link it in the first place. after he got ressed, he met pontiff sulivahn, who desired to make an alliance with him, and offered him something new to eat, something he had never eaten before and likely wouldn''t get the chance to again that would raise his power tenfold: the body of gwyndoline, a member of the royal family. in other words, a god. aldrich has this on hand because of the happy happenstance that annor londo terraformed right up against irithil. aldrich agreed and began to consume gwyndoline and inherit his ailities. it's also implied by some of aldrich's attacks that he also ate nitto the first of the dead, and another character from the first game tied to the painting i'll get into in another video, but nobody really gives a shit. at this point his title changed from aldrich, saint of the deep, to aldrich, devourer of gods, which is TECHNICALLY true, but he didn't actually kill any of them, and is just eating all the bodies we left behind int he first game lol. and it's in the middle of his consumption that you happen across him and fight him in his boss fight. so to be clear, aldrich himself is the turd sludge, the pale skinny body holding that weird staff thing with the bizzare sun shaped crown is gwyndoline, slowly being consumed from the waist down. It would be like fighting jabba the hut with princess leya sticking halfway out his mouth He's the most unambiguously evil person the series, even over pontiff sulyvahn, even though pontiff is a much more active villain
@@GhoulFinger why? He's mad because of the title which is satire, soulsborne community gets mad over everything. He's using a strength build which is glazed by the community and still people mad
Hey btw, that tower you turned the lever on in Irithyll (just after the archer knights) has a secret invisible path! Gives some cool loot and a faction to join!
Welp, another of your videos finished. Another great one. I do eat breakfast but, like you, I used to skip it. My favorite at the moment had to be a pancake and an egg. As for what game I’m looking forward to most, it’s probably shadow of the erd tree. Though I am excited about black myth wukong as well.
Agree, pancake and egg do be fire. I can’t wait for summer-fall this year, it’s gonna be lit (hopefully). Anyways, thanks for the support again my guy!
@@TrueSquareFace Also great that you actually interact with your community, another reason to appreciate you. As always the compliments are totally deserved!
4:09 Remember Radahn? Also, this whole area is the sane area as one in DS1, albeit changed by the passage of centuries. The mage isn't aldritch; that's the slime beneath it. The mage is the god that Aldritch is currently devouring, and an optional boss from DS1.
That Aldrich fight is a prime example of how rng can make or break a boss. I gotta be honest, you got very lucky surviving the arrow attack those two times. 😂
Aldrich is suposed to be hard when u face him straight after pontif but he becomes really easy when u are OP. I still advice you to get the Fume ultra greatsword and also im really looking forward to seeing u try the friede boss in the next video. Took me about 200 tries but hey you are way better at this game than me
