I love the smile that Mimir gives after Kratos says, "I believe I would like to sit here for a while." And that the song during the credits is a mix of both the Greek and Norse Kratos theme.
I was honestly so blown away with this FREE DLC, it brought back a lot of nostalgia that I was not expecting at all! And at the ending, I’m not gonna lie… I cried like a baby, like goddamn! 😭 It really was like you could truly hear and see the pain and anger in Kratos while he spoke to his past self, but to then see his view about himself change. In his mind, he then, not only acknowledges and fully accepts that he’s the God of War, but also viewed himself as the God of Hope now too!🥹 That’s what I got from it at least! Could be wrong, but still, it was beautiful!! 🥹 I got so emotional, I wasn’t readyyyyyyy!! 😭😂
@@JonFord This is honestly my reaction after this (once again) FREE masterpiece towards the gaming industry about DLCs: WRITE THAT DOWN, WRITE THAT DOWN! 😤
The fact that this is free is what blows me away. SO MUCH quality. The old soundtrack, old enemies, old locations, and the perfect resolution for Kratos at this point in time all the while having fun mechanics, and to top it all off, reminding us that old Kratos may be a monster, but he was always more than the monster people saw
@@wojciech9538 I don't see a narrative reason why but hey, you never know! Maybe it'll be a short fight or something of the old Kratos trying to reemerge since he's already forgiven himself
@@shadywheels7906I fail to see how He would reemerge when throughout the ending scene he accepts that he is that man, has his personality and stance on many things changed? Yes. But that was still the same man, who regrets his past actions yet accepts them as his own with the hope of eventually redeeming himself
@@shadywheels7906 Kratos has fought himself before, younger self in Ghost of Sparta and the man who killed his family in the original game. I won't mind if he fight his younger self again but I do not feel need for it if it doesn't fit in a future game.
"and with his victory in Valhalla, Kratos would go on to travel all the worlds, conquering any pantheon who would dare harm innocent life, as the new God of Hope"
@@originalSiiiNbecause conquering is like the complete opposite of what kratos does😂 dude had 2 games and a dlc to change and be better, to rebuild and to lead with people who genuinely care about him, becoming a conqueror would mean that kratos is no better than zeus and odin😂
@@originalSiiiN yeah I did, it's still stupid😂if kratos starts destroying pantheons, regardless of if he's doing it to protect the innocent or something else, it ruins every single shred of character development he's had over the last 2 games😂thank the gods you're not a writer lol
22:13 that's Tc Carson kratos from the end of 2005 God of war meeting kratos now they miss a great opportunity to bring Tc Carson back and have him talk to older kratos
True, I was very much expecting to faint when Carson will speak, but felt very sad and depressed when they didn't get him back. Then again, this DLC was free.
I think one of the reasons they didn't is becuase they don't have a plan to redo the Greek saga so they don't want people looking backwards after this.
Tc Carson didn't come back becuase they fired him on the worst terms you can remove someone. They didn't even give him notice that he was no longer Kratos or that they had another one in the makes. Ao yeah he's not going to come back but I doubt that is the whole story.
Kratos being a god of hope is so well done. Like He is still the God of war. But not like ares who feeds off of the pain and suffering that war brings. Instead he brings what most people need during war, which is hope. In times of War kratos will bring hope. Hope for survival, hope for victory, hope for a future. And that right there is amazing character building.
Amazing video. Amazing reaction. Glad you made 1 video. I’m so happy with this dlc. Mind blowing this is a game and not a movie. Can’t believe we got this as a DLC AND FOR FREE. Thank you Jon and I hope they give us more.
Idk why but with Young Kratos having a brand new model, I feel like they're secretly working on a GOW trilogy remake, and if they will do that then I'd down for it
Remake the trilogy for what? GOW3 and Ascension still stand out as some of the best looking games of all time and still hold up visually today. The only games you could realistically remake are the PS2 and PSP games.
Not gone lie I cried at the end of him talking to himself because I feel like everyone can relate to there younger self and can definitely see the wrong choices they’ve made.. that we have all made and to reflect and make better choices and recognize your wrongs and own up too it but want to be better is amazing man. 🙏🏾💪🏾❤️💯
I didnt realise until after my second playthrough that you can change kratos' appearance to that of the original trilogy, both in Valhalla and new game plus
This is so cathartic just when i thought how could they top GowR ending & then they come out with this 🥳😭 definitely top 5 games of all time for me.. shiit almost 20yrs with kratos So beautiful great reaction Jon i had similar feels
That’s what’s so amazing. I’ve never before seen a studio honor the past history of their game series and characters, yet forge a path forward for the future of the franchise. Top level stuff!
Only thing that could have made it better is if they brought in T.C. to do the voice acting for young kratos and have him hug and apologize too new kratos for how he used to be after the speach
Mayan or aztec I’m pretty sure, then Egyptian, then Japanese, i can’t wait to see what’s next for Kratos, Atreus, and hopefully mimir, Freya, Tyr, Angrboda and Thrud
I couldn't imagine when I was 12 playing God of war 1 on the PS2 that a scene like this would exist like Kratos talking and confronting his younger self it wouldn't blown my fucking mind back then, which it still did blow my mind today.
@@tyx8898 yea he still hasn't finished tho he completely destroyed Greece and left hope for them but he still needs to lead and rebuild the mythos he destroyed after going to every pantheon I can see him going back to Greece as a new god that actually cares for mortals ! Atreus pantheon is Norse which he himself is rebuilding while kratos is the hope for the people within that pantheon meaning kratos may actually be worshipped from every pantheon ! The creators even said they eventually want to visit the higher plane! Where Thor and Athena now resides... Kratos story isn't over yet ! Kratos is now considered the god of hope , war and wisdom . His story has practically just begun he has only made peace within himself finally and forgave himself .
@@twontwon1827 Atreus is rebuilding the jotun and the jotun alone, in the Valhalla dlc, Freya is asking Kratos to be part of the new gods council in order to rebuild.
He did as his old self when he gained access to the paradise grass that Hades' Wife guarded. I don't remember if it was a mainline game or Ascension-side game
I can understand Kratos' reluctance to join Freya's council. Asking Kratos to be a god or maybe a god of war again is kind of like asking someone who is a recovering alcoholic to be a manager of a bar. Would it be right for a person with that potential to do harm to themselves or others in position where they could be tempted to do the thing that would be the most harmful? Is it even right for someone to ask a person to do that? But on the other hand, if that person now had the conviction and knowledge to resist the temptation putting them in a position like that could help them to help others from going down the same path that they had.
Imma be honest when you were playing the DLC of Valhalla was that Sparta that we saw Kratos old home Sparta PS I'm going to be honest I'm really hoping to see more of your videos and uploads real soon about more god of war and other video games
the only thing that disappointed me was that they missed the opportunity to do kratos vs kratos where the new kratos must overcome his inner demons and accept himself!!!
@@JonFord Nonetheless the fact u sincerely enjoyed it, being full of nostalgia, even affected me though I never played greek games. Can’t wait when Atreus game comes out eventually.
Valhalla could make it so that the original ending of the very first game is canon, you know, the one where he becomes God of War, and all wars in history of mankind occur under his godhood; as far as I know, the devs didn't plan for sequels when they made this so they just gave this ending to kinda end it there, but him becoming God of War once more (as the story of Valhalla suggests) could actually make this ending possible
I honestly feel like this DLC was suppose to be a part of the main game, but it was too much for the budget but also too short to really pay money for. Glad it wasn't something you needed to pay for though, it just completes Kratos and his journey from the binds of Ares and the oath he made, to this new God of Hope, rather than war
@@Souphoverhe’s still the god of war 💀 and literally being worshipped among the mortals as the norse god of war the whole dlc is him progressing to taking over the mantle and throne as a new norse god of war, just not a god of war, pain and destruction anymore, a god of war and hope when all else is lost
Fucking hell hahaha. Not emotional is when you spend years hunting gods and killing non stop cauee youre angry about betrayal and sad about the death of your family. Too Emotional is when you’re introspective and care about your son and friends. Makes sense bud
@@2xRainb0wWhen I said emotional, I basically meant he has been written into acting/being a pussy (compared to his old self). You knew that man, c'mon... Don't intentionally misconstrue what I said
