We FINALLY have an answer what happened to Greece after God of War 3! This isn't a theory its now a fact! Follow me on Twitter!- Twitter.com/jonford543 Discord for God of War Fans!- / discord Support me PLEASE- / @jonford
is so amazing that the creators in the writers gave all of Kratos old powers and abilities back to him and his weapons but we all thought that Greece actually be destroyed
I've read theories suggesting Calliope and other such characters might have been brought back to life after GoW 3 to become the gods of a _New Olympus_ and replace the old one destroyed by Kratos. Hopefully we'll visit Greece again in the next sequel.
This gives basis for them to introduce the Roman pantheon and would be very interested to see Kratos react to a new set of gods rising up in his old homeland
That would mean Zeus is back for more. Probably another banger fight since Zeus gave him the hardest and Best fight throughout the Series and it was perfect.
There are so many ways they could take this, if they go a more historical route they could have Greece be during the Alexandrian era so it has a mixing of all these different gods and pantheons. Would be an awesome way to tie in Rome and Egypt too
Given that he reclaimed the Blade of Olympus i think the only thing standing in the way of Kratos accessing the magic of Greece is Kratos himself. His regret his remorse the violence he inflicted. The Traumas of his past. He’s just now making peace with his past and in doing so reclaimed in his own mind the right to bear the mantle of godhood.
I have an idea on how the Greece could've functioned without Helios. He did have a sister known as Eos who controlled the dawn so in his place she could've been the primary ruler of the sun by that point. The moon would be ruled by Selene. Aphrodite would still be around because Kratos didn't attack her like Hera. Hestia, Demeter and probably persephone as well would be around to guide the humans and Hecate or Nyx would've been an excellent substitute for Zues. This might not work because of how obscure her mythology is but I also think that Irene goddess of peace would also make a good substitute for Ares and Kratos because War and Peace are mirrors of each other.
@@MrCLightning I was just gonna comment that, I also made another comment, mentioning some of the God's Kratos didn't kill, so yeah, no doubt they definitely took up the mantle after Kratos left.
I like to think that Greece didn't repair itself, by itself, but that the Roman Pantheon stepped in and aided them in fixing what was broken. It would show that Rome was still an expanding Empire, that it was entering other realms and assimilating them into their own, and would give an in game reason for the similarities between Rome's gods and Greece's.
If the greek gods were killed that means the "Roman" gods were killed since it's the same gods under different name as that means Rome was probably destroyed as well
@@uncutfandu3179minor correction: mars is the roman counterpart to ares as theyre both war, i dont remember who the roman god of the underworld is tho sorry
I always did wonder what happened to Callipoe after Hades died, as we saw several souls escape the underworld with the death of Hades. But I guess Calliope and those in Elysium did not escape and are still residing there.
I'd really love you to make a video specifically how the old enemies were done so beautifully! And also perhaps some details hidden in most places that could have a significant meaning! Greetings Jon! 😄
Kratos never killed all the gods in Greece neither so while the mortals did the rebuilding they wouldve gotten help from the surviving gods such as Artemis
Apollo also alive even tho we never met him, we only got his bow in god of war 3 and in the myth he is also sort of god of sun and light just like helios if im not mistaken
There is also a moment in the DLC I haven't really seen anyone commenting on, when Mimir is recalling his youth after trading places with Helios he talks about him and his group being near Athens. I don't remember the exact wording but it was said so casually and neither him nor Kratos seem to point out that fact. Unless it's a non-greek Athens they were talking about but I doubt it
These last 2 games really do sometimes drop really crazy pieces of lore very casually and very briefly an example. I only just discovered in the past couple of days the dream world that atreus goes to near the beginning of Ragnarok actually has a name and explanation as to what it is. But it's only in two conversations in the entire game. Conversations that are very easily forgotten about or are glossed over, but that's it 2 mentions. Like I said it's kind of crazy how quickly and or casually things are mentioned.
be funny if Tyr mentioned he met and knew Ares and Athena, and that the siblings seemed strained. Athena had a 'holier than thou' mood while Ares was always envious she was the favorite of the kids. it'd kinda add to the backstory of why Ares is so bitter an wanted to take control cause daddy doted onher.
Imagine having a spinoff where it focuses on atreus journey on finding other giants and ending up in greece which is now ruled by Roman Gods. And somehow meeting his older Sister calliope.
this means tyr went to greece after kratos' destruction. perhaps the society was completely rebuilt back up if they were in a state where tyr could get tools and treasures from them
But that wouldn't make sense Cause if the greek gods were killed that automatically means the Roman gods died as well since it's the same gods under different names So Rome was probably destroyed
@@greoko Greece was rebuilt, Ik its different to real history but maybe it was rebuilt into Rome and all the Greek Gods will return as Roman Gods, maybe even a Roman Kratos
One thing I was really happy with was Kratos talking about his first Wife, Lysandra. Such an underrated Character, only has a few Lines in God of War 1 & Gaia appears as her for a few Seconds 7n God of War 2. Was very happy with the Respect she got.
Well kratos only Killed a few Gods theres like 200 something greek Gods so any number of them could rebuild and reestablished the greek world cosmology as well
As Poseidon said in GoW 3: _"The death of Zeus means the death of _*_us all!"_* I can only assume that statement was literal as when Kratos finally kills Zeus we do NOT see any other gods roaming around Mount Olympus.
@@javiervasquez625 no lol. He meant that Olympus would fall if Zeus died because he was the main power keeping shit together. Most of the gods weren’t living on Olympus. They’d only go and visit Olympus when Zeus ordered them to. Gods like Artemis, Apollo etc all preferred to live outside Olympus. It’s also stated in the novels that gods like hestia, Demeter etc left Olympus because they hated kratos and left when kratos became the god of war. People also forgetting that Morpheus (arguably the strongest Greek god is still alive). Morpheus nearly soloed the Greek gods in chains of Olympus but was imprisoned again before his seal was fully broken and released but his seal weakening was still strong enough to put all the gods to sleep.
Calliope Theory video you should do. The way Kratos talks about her in from "hoping she found PEACE" & "how he's forgotten her song" gives me so much setting up scenario. Especially how he twiced mention how he doesn't remember Calliope's song. Which he doesn't remember but as soon as he hears a familiar flute hymn, he will remember it. Also we are two games in, Atreus knows he's a part God, has Greek heritage in him, hes the grandson of Zeus but does he know at all that his father was married before or that he has or HAS a sister. Cant help that we have gonna see huge revelation scene in a future game & also Kratos finally explaining why his Skin is the way it is. Especially that line finding peace. Either Calliope soul still Elysium & is at peace or is somehow resurrected & not a peace at all & wants vengeance against her father.
It was already confirmed slightly in 2018. The vase depicted kratos destroying olympus. Someone has to be around to make it. The gods and titan are gone, so kratos original magic is gone except for the blades. And Odin might be referencing Sparta, which was destroyed by Zeus.
I usually hate the long “emotional “ comments ,i wish i had a channel to upload my reaction too as someone who played the series since i was 4 So i will say it here : The ending man! No amount of mgs content made me tear up to the point i could not see anything (and i think we all agree mgs is e very tragic series) I literally teared up the first time during your reaction video, extreme gameplay’s,my playthrough ,randomly while listening to the game music when the og theme plays in the second part of the ost i believe it is called “face the past face the future “ ( i remembered every moment from the very first time i saw the fires of the first main menu to the shock of gow3 ending it was sweet and a little sad too for some reason) Just to see after all these years the old kratos talking to the one i grew up with really hit me like a blade of olympus heavy attack If you took the time to read this Thank you my friend
Kratos did release hope back to the world. And it stated to be one of the strongest thing, so it kinda obvious that there would be "hope" for Greece to survive.
I think in the next game we're gonna go to Egypt to fight the Egyptian gods, but they'll be too powerful so we're gonna have to go back to Greece to get our old god killing powers back.
Everything has a border around it, making that specific realm it’s own world. Giving each place like Nordic, Olympic etc. it’s own set of Oceans, Suns, Skies, Underworld’s,whatever.
make a video about what would happen if Kratos returned to Greece as the God of Hope to help rebuild and lead his homeland back to peace and how perhaps the rift from Ragnarok would play a part in getting Kratos home
I think when the Olympians came to power they took control of things and bent them to their own purposes. The 'destruction' seen at the end of God of War 3 could have been the world taking back control all at once. Think of a barbeque grill if you add a little bit of fuel it will stoke up the fire, that is what the Olympians were doing, but if you throw the whole bottle on the fire it goes out of control. So, it may not have taken as long as we think for the land of Greece to recover, long enough for Kratos to move on and not see it. As, to why Odin used the pasted tense, well Odin thinks he knows all but it is shown that he doesn't. Why Kratos could no longer use the powers he once had may not be because the land he came from was gone, but because the source of those powers, the Olympian dynasty, was gone.
so... Greece needs a new god of the sun after Helios, a god of pests and medicine after Hermes, a combat god after Kratos and Ares, a new chief god after Zeus... If Greece is reconstructed Apollo is the biggest candidate to be the new main god, the one that helped rebuild the most. After all, he is one of the gods we KNOW used to live in the GoW universe (because of a special skin on the first game and the precense of Artemis).
Personally, everything in gow valhalla hit hard as hell with the way it had been explained throughout and any heavy gow fan would know this peace truly, the only thing I really want now is an out of cannon battle between Kratos and Athena for the sake of a more Greece like fight between Kratos and someone he well..somewhat had an attachment too
wow the fact that tyr actually visited greece after gow 3 & probably helped them rebuild what a g, also never thought of the fact that kratos basically freed them from the hold of the greek gods which for the long run is probably for the better
Everyone believed that Kratos permanently destroyed his homeland and I also believe it too I feel like if Kratos was on some Dragon Ball stuff like trunks was he would have probably had to erase his timeline from existence Kratos would have to become like trunks the same thing erased his timeline and erases existence of his own home
I think it would be cool if kratos somehow makes his way back to Greece one day only to find that it has been conquered by the Roman Empire and that the gods have been resurrected into their Roman forms.
Don't forget Kratos killed almost everyone else beside Atlas. Also I'm pretty much wondering about Athena since she is living in higher plane of existence ,would be possible to bring Greece back to life?
I know Kratos came to regret his actions in the final battle between the Olympian, gods and everything, but they feel that maybe there’s a part of his life that he doesn’t regret because he seemed proud that he had not only his son, but also that he was training him well for the real world Like he’s not like he doesn’t regret having Atreus And being there for him, he’s not only did it help him become a father again, but it helped him prevent the same mistakes and occurring again
I don’t think it’s distance either. Greece is probably barely alive and “hope” is their new source. The original source of magic (the gods) is gone, which is why Kratos does not regain his powers. They have a new source that keeps them all alive. I would assume that the Romans are in power now.
I hope that they would bring back other greek gods in myth for the rebuilding. Maybe Apollo comes for the sun. Or they do an approach where the gods roman for survived and the place is now Rome.
It is very likely that since the elements existed before the gods in Olympus, after Kratos killed the gods, and took away all the rulers of the elements, after the world “died” and all the gods were killed perhaps the world reset, and when Kratos left he no longer had control over his powers, since Greece had turned back to the natural order of the elements. The only thing is if that were the case, then how come the blades of chaos didn’t lose their power? Also, in Valhalla Kratos calls upon the Blade of Olympus, but that may just be a result of the powers of Valhalla itself.
I personally think it wasthe power of hope kratos unleashed. That power hit the magic reset button as we saw the sun at the end of gow3. A natural world with no gods controlling it.
“That’s how you make a good story; by keeping the past alive while building a future!” And I agree. And if you listen closely, you can hear Ryan Johnson screaming in the distance!
Finally Very Pleased with the Return of the Greatest Sword Ever Created By A King Of Gods Directly even if it is Only A Rage Ability and Not an Actual Weapon
I've come to the conclusion that the Greek games are set in period of time like irl 3rd century BCE and the newer Norse games are set like close to the 8th century. There's some things that conflict with these settings, but that like over a thousand years. It depends on dating Hrólfr Kraki
According to Cory, the Norse Saga timeline is much before the Viking Era. He even say that when Vikings will come to Scandinavia, the gods will be long gone.
In the greek myths zeus reportedly kept mortals in the dark. It was prometheus that gave them light. So it stands to reason that the greek gods manipulated forces as a means of control. Blanket greece in darkness so helios can claim dominion, only allowing light to shine when he wants. Poseidon controlling the seas, hades building a place for souls to travel, etc. It was about manipulating mortals. With the gods gone, natural order was restored after some turmoil.
Kratos was alive for centuries but he mentioned only decades when discussing his daughter, I wonder why? Ascension and CoO took place 10 years before the original GOW, then he served as god of war in GoS and GOW2, then GOW2 rolls directly into GOW3 as they storm Olympus.
Before valhalla and the Norse Pantheon, Kratos' bloodthirsty mission was only fixated on Olympus. Yet only a handfull of olympians would've been left alive had they not provoked Kratos. Some he killed intentionally, others simply got in his way. Zues = Olympus, so he wanted only Zues at the time. Ares was the 1st casualty due to his deception. But there are far more gods than just the olympians. And most of them still live. Lesser, weaker gods but the thrones of olympus are very much empty. Valhalla gave us closure and clarity, but the old games gave us just as much insight. Still glad his homeland isn't reduced to ashes.
In case anybody is wondering if this means Kratos will get his Greek powers from the old games back, I doubt it. According to Freya, when Greece died, so too did Kratos's Greek powers. His blades are an exception since they use PRIMORDIAL (existed since the dawn of time) flames. Surtur confirmed this himself which means that those flames will persist even after Greece's fall. As for the future, it's possible that Kratos can return to the rebuilt Greece and obtain other Greek powers to replace the ones he lost. It's like when you spill a tumbler of water. You can't really drink the water you lost (safely at least) but you can find more water to replace your drinking losses. Now, I doubt the devs and storywriters or whatnot will have Kratos return to Greece at this point since the Valhalla DLC. But this could be something fun for us to think about and look forward to. Provided that we manage to live for that long in these hard times...
this was already confirmed before the norse saga started there is a secret cutscene that shows humans exploring pandoras temple still on the remains of cronos did everyone just forget that happened?
I would love to return to greece. I think we will be doing this in an atreus game. Going to each and every pantheon looking for giants kinda like what tyr did travelling the diffrent worlds
My head canon is Greece basically became a godless land. Instead of relying to Helios for the sun, the land relies on the actual Sun in space. It became the land where the humans actually rule it, kind of like today’s society.
It would be cool if greece rebuilt and developed a team to hunt down kratos. Each is a boss fight. Then you fight thr mysterious leader. Turns out to be a clone of kratos with tc carsons voice
There are plenty of Gods that weren't killed by Kratos, Apollo, Artemis, Nemesis, Hypno, Morpheus, Hestia, (Zeus's sister no one talks about) Demeter, Dionysus, Pan, I'm sure there's more, but it's also possible these Gods took up the mantle Zeus and the other's left behind.
It would make sense if, as Greece was being rebuilt, Apollo took Helios's place, since Apollo was seen as a god of light, and conveniently enough was not killed as far as we know.
I never thought the Greek people were totally killed off. These games are based on mythology and real events but don’t go as far as erasing entire cultures. Rebuilding was apart of the real disaster that took place
But if we talk about blade of olympus. How kratos recall it even in Valhalla. We know that kratos put his godly power in god of war 2 starting. So is it possible to recall it
Valhalla is illusions based on his memories- when he first recalled it, he was in "Greece". As for after you beat Valhalla, in the main game, that's just an easter egg, same with the Young Kratos skin. Basically, "Because why not?"
I've always thought that Greece isn't completely destroyed because there are so many other gods out there that are alive that can replace the main olympian gods job. Afterall Kratos only killed those in the way of Zeus, he couldn't give 2 shit about Dionysus, Apollo, or Nyx. It's very exaggerating to say Kratos destroyed a whole land of gods, Well he did but it didn't get deleted out of existence it's still there.
Greece was destroyed, we all seen it in god of war 3, it's flourishing now because tyr helped rebuild it and at least a few hundred years had passed since the events of god of war 3 to god of war 2018
