I stopped believing that this was actually a real character the sixty-third time I saw the meme.

Magical Girl Site is INSANE. It's also a crossover with Magical Girl Apocalypse. The last few chapters with the.... sperm (if you know you know) makes it one of the most memorable Manga ever, even if it's for the absolute wrong reasons. I don't think it's terrible, but it sure ain't good. It just gets even more insane as it goes along.

Thank you for the backstory behind the meme girl. This seems like someone heard little bits about Madoka, and just tried to make something like it. I watched Madoka and liked it. What ever this manga is trying to be, I am going to make a hard pass.

The violence is so gratuitous, you can tell the author is enjoying drawing those miserable girls in incredible pain :( It's very edgy just for the sake of being edgy.

After the success of Madoka it seems like every magic girl manga are just trying to use shock value and gore to shock the reader and don't actually try to do interesting and entertaining stories.

Not gonna lie, this manga had potential for being a good Psychological thriller like Boy's Abyss, but with magical girls. Something like Wonder Egg Priority.

From what I recall, the Sticks (aka the magical items) are given to girls who have suffered a terrible tragedy or hold a massive grudge against someone/something. That probably explains why a lot of the magical girls are messed up in some way. It's very unlikely that a regular girl would be given a Stick (of course there's always the option of stealing one lol 🤪). I could be wrong tho, it's been a while since I read the whole manga. If you want my opinion on MGS, I thought the plot was interesting. But the ending is pretty wack and still confuses me to this day. 😐

Ah yes, Mahou Shoujo Site. This one came out around the time where there was this high after Madoka Magica finished its run and every writer and their mom tried to emulate what that did and just ended up spectacularly falling on their faces HARD. Because unlike Madoka which was a tragic and poetic (fairy) tale about the dark site of the magical girl genre like most people haven't seen before (at least the ones that haven't seen Princess Tutu or Utena) with carefully crafted story- and worldbuilding, complete and well rounded complex characters, and tons of thematically well chosen symbolism woven into its visual, most of these emulating copies just tried too hard to go above what Madoka put out and turned into bleak and overly edgy garb.... Seriously, go watch and read any- and everything related to Madoka Magica. You will not regret it.

Not gonna lie, I've read the whole manga a few years ago and don't remember anything now xD It wasn't the most enjoyable read, but it made me love Madoka Magica ten times more

I read the entire manga and the fact that you decided to stop reading at 30 chapters in is such a good call. After they start introducing the back story of kosame (self harm pills girl) is when I realized that this manga was way too silly to take seriously despite the amount of blood and gore. If you want an idea of how bad it gets, the final fight is against an enemy that can only be harmed by men, Aya (the protagonist)'s brother tries to do an heroic sacrifice only to be told that he lost his manhood after being kidnapped and raped by another man who is also at this point part of the "good guys" guys. The enemy is defeated by kiyoharu, one of the few (if not, the only) characters in the manga who is probably the more grounded one in regards of personality, struggle and motivations, who is able to hurt the king because she's transgender. After they defeat it, the earth is beyond fucked and Aya decides to pull a Madoka by using her teleport gun to teleport *across* *time* *and* *space* so she can make sure the events that caused the girls to become magical girls and then kill the king once and for all. Absolute dogshit manga, i have never read something that committed to being the worst thing possible because usually when something is bad there's like , some writing decisions that make you go "hm yeah actually I can see where you were going with this but you did it badly" but here the writing goes for the worst , most flaccid way to end a conflict every single time. Also fun fact the iconic panel comes from a chapter where the conflict essentially boils down to "Aya's dad used the mind control panties on his family and just told Aya that she was adopted. He then proceeds to bleed out of his ass to death in the next 3 pages only for the last 2 pages to remind you that there was actually a site administrator trying to kill Aya's family in the house", it encapsulates everything wrong with the manga, it's problems with tone, conflict and emotional stakes.

I have always seen this picture and I was in love with it. I didn't know it was actually a series. I just thought it was a random picture a very talented person drew.

WHAT, never in a million years I would have guessed that was from Mahou Shojo Site, I mean I watched the anime, didn't read the manga, but the artstyle of that specific image looks amazing compared to the anime, unrecognizable

Thanks for the title, I actually found another maybe prequel to this from another artist/author with a different art style that was hard to read but compelling in a kinda subversion of the genre. (Think "puella magi madoka magica") Looks really hard to slog through though

i watched the anime a while back and was considering reading the manga after rewatching the series, holy shit am i glad i didnt, i didnt even remember about how horrible each plot was taken, all i could remember was "suicide, blood, rape" which pretty much sums up all the "serious" notes this tries to take

Funnily enough, my favourite magical girls anime is Mahou Shoujo Ore. It's different yet it knows it shouldn't take itself serious and how silly the mere concept of magical girls is so it exploits it by poking fun at the genre which makes it very fun to watch. It legit made me crack up so bad at 5:00AM I was having a hard time keeping quiet as to not wake my family up. Also, I love the fact that they defeat enemies by brutally and physically beating the shit out them.

I kind of appreciated this as an intentionally nasty shock schlock trauma gorn, but around about the point where the big brother stole the mind control panties and got kidnapped by the crazy gay dude I don't remember anything else about.... I kind of ran out of shock and just went to bed. Reading while seriously sleep deprived may also help the experience.

It really isn’t a good story in general, but reading it I actually had fun because it was so ridiculous. The moments with Ayas brother and that shark teeth girl’s brother is so insane, awkward, and unmotivated, I actually had to keep from howling from laughter. Ayas bully ended up becoming my favorite character for literally no reason I can articulate. Idk if I’d read it again or even read magical girl apocalypse, but I was definitely interested enough to finish it all in like 2-3 days

Why do they even want to stop the world from ending in this manga, anyway? Judging from everything the author has shown us, a literal apocalypse would be a massive improvement. That might make an interesting show. A series about a team of magical girls who are deliberately trying to end the world as the protagonists.

I finished this manga in 2019 and it hadn't occur to me until now that this is actually Aya from Mahou Shoujo Site, partly because I believed it was a weird fever dream I had due to how absolutely ridiculous the story was.

From what I've heard this sounds like a certain traumatizing "manga" that I've seen videos about. But with none of the emotion despite the premise and not taking things as serious as it should be. I won't dare say its name though. Its weird also how we just use the meme but not acknowledge the screwed up origins of it.

I really like the idea of “using your powers has life altering consequences” but I couldn’t get past the first episode of this anime. I think that Yuki Yuna is a Hero does it so much better. It only has about 13 episodes (+ a jpn only game I’m p sure) but it’s honestly heartbreaking. I’d recommend it, but it’s been forever since i last saw it.

Oh man my teacher and I watched it's anime when I was in highschool. Great edge,the absolute pinnacle of taking a Linkin park song and somehow making an even more emo cover of it. What I will definitely say, and defend till I die however, is that the soundtrack... Was beautiful. Some tracks, even now, genuinely evoked certain emotion in me and I can recall some scenes vividly just for them. I remember literally listening to them when someone uploaded em on RU-vid and genuinely lamenting how much of a waste it was to have been used for this show... Ah well

Honestly, I really enjoyed this series. It’s so stupid, but it’s a fun ass ride, especially when it got tied into Magical Girl Apocalypse. When characters from Apocalypse came back, it was some hype ass shit. The ending is so mind numbingly dumb, but it makes for a perfect cap to both manga because of that. If you want an edgy gore fest that tries too hard, would highly recommend both manga. Start with Magical Girl Apocalypse, since it’s need for context later on in Magical Girl Site. Also read the side story Magical Girl Site Sept as it gives even more context.

I also think you should check out Madoka Magica. It and Magical Girl Site really take the magical girl concept into a darker setting. Although Madoka does it much better imo.

I straight up read about 30 chapters of this a few years back and I can't tell you ANYTHING that happened in it. I don't even remember who the characters are or what they were trying to do. That should tell ya how forgettable this manga is.

I actually watched the anime, and, I enjoyed it. I think the secret to enjoying it is to simply... Not take it seriously. Everything is super weird and absurd, like, everything. It's just straight up edgy. So I think that what made me enjoy it was not comparing it to real life at all. It's one of those cases where, it's fun because of how absurd and unrealistic it is- Not something that tries to portray reality and tell a story, but to present an absurd and different world. And I can enjoy that.

I remember checking out the series awhile back, and being pretty into it. Lmao, I honestly didn't get far enough to know that the meme was from that.

I read the entire series, it gets pretty crazy. You also need to read 2-4 other series made by the same author to fully understand the ending.

I'm personally a fan of manga actually I enjoy the first 50 chapters a lot actually. I personally really enjoy the series when its its lighter and gives the characters room to breathe since there some good character moments especially I feel in the first 50ish chapters. To talk about edgy parts of the series I'd say its somewhat all over place but some hits pretty good for example the the bully character Serena has nice character moment before she gets involved with the Site she see's Rina in the hospital who actually using the appearance of older sister and she immediately calls her home to find what happen. I think this series is a 7/10 honestly its not perfect and definitely has moments that are poorly done but I enjoyed the series enough to finish while it was still being translated. That's my personal piece on the series.

It sounds like the author saw what Madoka Magica did, and tried to copy that formula without really understanding why it worked in the first place. I haven't read the manga, so this is just based off of this video. Side note, didn't this manga series get an anime adaptation a few years ago or something.

I remember how baffled I when I learned towards the end of the series it just went "Oh hey btw remember that other Magical Girl series by the same author that this series has had literally no connection to beforehand, well guess what, this was actually a sequel all along! HA, now you gotta take time off from this bad series to read an arguably even worse series! BAM, PRANKED!" Kinda glad I had already stopped reading some time before that point, the surprising thing is that wasn't even the worst part about it.

i feel like ya'll r reading it with the wrong expectation this is NOT a magical girl manga... this is more similar to something like elfen lied just not as well written (like the psychological elements are a lot more clumsily written etc), more psychological horror than it is magical girl, madoka magica was a magical girl anime with elements of tragedy, i think what youre looking for here is like not what it actually is which is an entirely different niche that may not even appeal to you as a sweeping category

Even with the edginess and shock gore, I read all of the series in one sitting and I loved it. It might not be very good, but it’s very entertaining and I found the plot interesting and compelling.

Well i did read this one but it didn't fit my likes that much, but when u did explain on how the writer has to create a villain (not specifically) so that the story can develop and give some dark moments and puts u on edge it just keep reminds me of manga i read its name ( Happy Sugar Life) its just has this weird atmosphere around it but i enjoyed it so much, I don't know if u read it but i hope u give it a try :)

Interesting take. I am just starting this one and I am really quite intrigued. I am quite a fan of these kind of dark tones. Although, I can't agree if the characters are bland or not since I'm not really good at analyzing literature. I can at least infer what it is. I wanna talk about the 2 Bullies who were ran over by a Train which were a Male Adult and a Young Student Girl. I know they were Bullies, but a young female student getting ran over by a Train along with the male adult after being teleported out of nowhere because of a suspiciously cute looking toy gun used by Aya, her victim, which made me feel like the whole scene was probably meant as a purpose to satisfy people to think how she deserves that excessively shocking death as a form of being punished and receiving the consequences of her actions... You’re right, I genuinely agree with you so much about saying that the punishments that these Bullies received are a bit over the top (2:23), but that’s kind of an understatement, it was far worse than I could’ve bargained for that I actually felt genuinely Heart-broken for that Poor Young Student Girl despite being just a member of some Bully Gang, I mean, she was still indeed just young, probably just as young as Aya too, I’m not really sure, but somehow, I could feel that some people would say how her young age still doesn’t excuse her actions and still deserved her death somehow..and tbh..I don’t how to feel about that, for I don’t even know if that even sounds right and I’m wrong, and in reverse, but I think I would just follow what my Heart tells me, and for me, it just doesn’t sound right or righteous to me that a young girl who’s a bully deserves to be ran over by a train as punishment for her unforgivable actions as much as the rest of her kind from the Bully Gang that she’s a part of... *(sigh)* I feel more Heart-broken than ever... oh btw, about the male adult that was with her... sorry, I couldn’t feel bad for him as much as I did for the young girl, hope you could understand though... though either way, even after saying all of these, I just found out that all of the characters apart from the main one which is Aya, have all the same Personalities for looking cute and being psychopaths at the same time, just like what the masked man says.

That drawing was well done gesture/expression-wise that I thought it was from some tragedy or drama manga. Well, tragedy with a touch of edginess maybe but still you could almost feel that pained hurting cry from that one shot. The messege is sent without the need for texts.
