I can't even imagine how you can get all the custom orders done in a timely manner. Close them down, catch up, make some of whatever you want to make. Then you can pick up customs at your pace. It's your business and most importantly it's your life!! Don't live your life under a constant deadline. It's not worth it. Selfishly though, I hope you aren't feeling stressed out about making vlogs. We would miss you too much!!!
You should try what art commissioners do and have monthly/weekly slots, that way you can still do custom orders but it can't exceed the amount you think you can make in a timely manner
I was about to suggest the same thing. It seems like a good idea! That way you’re not overwhelmed and there’s more hype to claim your slot before they’re all gone for the month
It's all about the work load and mental health balance. Close the customs for a bit, make what is left, and start making something you want. Even the scrunchies, that way you can go through some of the skeins you have more of, like the lilac. You work hard, and it's great business is good, but you have to take enough time to recover physically and mentally especially with the holidays coming up. Best wishes. I think we all love watching you and Cesar and the dogs.
As someone who turned 45 today, I feel qualified to give you advice! LOL I think closing your custom orders is a good idea because you're on this treadmill of never reaching a finish line because you keep getting orders. Life is short and you don't wanna burn yourself out too badly. Also, no shade to cereal for lunch, it's a real banger!
With your channel continuing to grow, custom on demand orders are very challenging. Loved the colour series, stocking the store. How about coordinating sets. Colours that go together, less beach, more autumn.
Girl don’t be stressed! You should close the custom orders and take some time for your brain to relax 😅 I honestly don’t know how you can keep up with all the orders you’re doing awesome 👏 plus that way you have time to make whatever you want. :) Keep up the good work girl! 💖
I fully support the decision to close custom orders! You’ve been working so hard, and I hope this isn’t disrespectful or rude, but I can definitely see the burn out through your videos. Take all the time you need and work on what YOU want!! ❤
I realized that I missed the stream but this was recorded simultaneously of when me and my boyfriend were coming home from our vacation! I got to meet you last Friday and I’ll say that it made my WEEK! You were super sweet and I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to talk with me and get a photo! Thank you Kelsie! Love your videos always! 💖💖
Maybe you could check your stats and see what items are custom ordered the most, and add that to your in-stock items. This may take some of the customs away so you'd be able to keep stock of items/colors you didn't even realize were as popular.
I agree closing your orders every one in a while would help you. I would definitely shut them down after Black Friday and not open them up until the new year.
I have a crochet business, too and I agree that it’s more fun to crochet what you want and sell that. Custom orders seem more like work, but if you can find a balance between the two you can avoid burn out. Plus, you want to build up stock for your Black Friday sale, since it was so fun for you last year! It’s your business, do what’s right for you!
i think it might be better to do two weeks on, two weeks off with custom orders because when you turn them off you’re still going to need time to make and ship them before making your own stock (but also it’s your business so do what you like obviously lol) i just know if it was me i’d probably end up spending the whole week finishing what had been ordered and not get much of a chance to make my own stuff
tbh i def was gonna say u should close custom orders (if u want) cause 1) most of the customs you get are scrunchies which are good items to just have as stock 2) the holidays are coming up and it’s easier as a customer to pick from premade items more often than something that is labeled as “custom” and 3) the burn out is getting real. We can tell you’re working your ass off and I think making premade items will help your motivation and keep your mind open and help you be creative. I’m still gonna watch and look at your website twice a week if you keep customs open or close them though ❤
I would definitely close them for a week or 2 every month because that would let you catch up and hopefully have time to do what you want! Would be nice to have less pressure on yourself, and your content would be a little varied then 🙂
Hi, keslie! I have been crocheting since 2020. I had stopped for a while in between but your videos really helped me continue and I always watch your videos while crocheting. I have made a lot of items, most of them are from your tutorials. I love all your videos sooo much :) thank you so much for motivating me
I looooove seeing all of the scrunchies laid out to be packed and shipped. It really tickled my brain. Thank you!! And I'm so excited for you to do something for yourself. Or at least get to pick your own colors and projects again. 😂
You could limit yourself and turn off custom orders when they pile up to much (like hit 30 or something?) or you could cycle through and only do a certain type of custom order for a month (only tops or only market bags) so you don’t get overloaded and can make stock like scrunchies and hats in the extra time
I think when you make whatever you want it’s also good for content, which is good for money, so that’s the way I’m thinking about it~ but we love to see you make whatever that makes u happy!!
I would love to have a yarn stash like yours, even if it's just the cotton yarn pile. I am amazed at how committed you are to your channel and fans. My future goal. You are a motivator and an inspiration to me. Thank you Kelsie 🥰
Another relaxing video. I’m working on a crop top for my daughter. I’m going to use one of your patterns, with some personal modifications. I’m excited to see how it will turn out. I’m also working on a cotton dragonfly blanket pattern for my soon to be new grand baby. 💖
Hi, Kelsie!! I love watching your videos a lot! They help me gain the motivation to finish projects I stopped working on. Because of you, I finished a bag that I’ve been making for my cosplay! 💜💜💜
Totally not me clicking because of the LEWK in the thumbnail 👀 lol. “Peopling” is DRAINING. So draining. Oooof. You’re permitted a nap whenever you need one! Joy of adulting! 😉Happy Weds, Kelsie 🧡🧶🫶🏻
I placed 2 orders for midnight sea sparkly. One came and was super sparkly, and the other came and had almost no sparkles. Betting we had the same batch. It's funny watching the time lapse of the Scrunchies after watching the live.
I really appreciate your content ❤ I have a few hours of sitting in my car while my son has speech and OT a couple times a week and it’s nice to sit and watch something relaxing
I love the idea of closing custom orders so you can do what brings you the most joy! You could even close custom orders for a whole month two or three times per year to give you time to catch up on any remaining custom orders you have and still make a good amount of premade items
There is also the question of, do you want to scale up and hire someone so that you can have time to do customs but also create more stock for online? And you could still have custom items limited per month, but it might not diminish the number of custom orders you get as people may just wait and all enter their order as soon as the window opens again. You may have addressed this already but I couldn’t remember anything recently. Just a thought. (And if sizing consistency is a worry you can always do the tops yourself and allocate scrunchies, bags or centro knits, etc. to your employee)
I think it would be good for you to close your customs for a while. Maybe even until the new year so you can have time to focus on the holiday season without the stress of 20+ orders looming over your head. I personally wouldn't be able to have them open as much as you do, I would always feel like I'm never actually getting anything done. Obviously the choice is yours at the end of the day, all of us here on RU-vid will still be here no matter what you decide to do 😊
I think I'm going to do custom orders all the time, but like every 2-3 months close it to catch up/ stock up, I think that is a pretty good amount for both.
You have been an absolute baller getting them custom orders done, I can't believe you've had them open this long, I literally could never. I look up to and respect the hell outta you with your talent in crochet. You're an inspiration. I'm currently working on your spiderweb peek-a-boo top and it's turning out great. May I suggest, next year could you make a pattern for a candy corn top?
Honestly i think you should give the custom orders one more week or so, so everyone gets to order, and then you should close them until next year. you have so much to do and i can only assume how much sleep and rest you need to catch up on. make some things that make you happy. we love buying premade stuff!! edit: also i think you really should raise your prices!! especially for the custome items!
The one week off a month sounds great! You would have a week to catch up and start on pre made!! You need to rest and not stress too much as well!🫶🏻💞 We don’t want to lose you because it’s too much🥺❤️
I definitely think the new custom orders have taken over a bit (not that it is necessarily bad, but it does sound like you'd like more time to make other items). I would suggest maybe closing custom scrunchies, that way you can make them at your own pace - it would let also you use up a full skein at a time if you want to and you wouldn't need to worry about having every single colour available at all times, so might help with inventory/space issues. Then maybe have a set limit on how many bags and tops can be ordered per week. I'd say set that limit somewhere that is very reasonable (maybe 2 days of work?) and still allows you a few days for making other stock (and some REST time, yeah??). Both are made with Lily sugar and cream, so that inventory seems to always be pretty on demand/stocked and easy to get a hold of quickly. If you want to close them all together for a bit, that is also totally understandable. You do what is right for you girl.
Maybe you can also do a limit for custom orders. Like there is only 10 spots available. And when it's full, no more custom orders. So there's not so many custom orders. But you still make money through it.
I’ve made and sold things forever. I’d limit what custom items you offer. I personally would not do custom scrunchies, and instead stock certain colors either steadily or on a rotation. That way people have a chance for certain colors at different times. Offer custom options on things you have the most profit on vs time involved. Maybe halter tops in spring/summer, and hats/ear warmers in fall/winter. Custom shawls could be a higher priced item that you do a limited amount of per year. Just suggestions.
I think it would be good to open custom orders for like a week or so whenever you’re feeling like it. Then you could play into the scarcity marketing because people will do big orders because they won’t know when you will open it again. That way you can have big income/orders all at once when it’s convenient for you and be able to actually work to 0 orders.
I think you should do what is best for you because if you are stressing out plus trying to make content it's going to get overwhelming and then you won't be able to make videos or do the things you like to do. your health/mental health is very important true fans and customers definitely will understand. I would miss seeing your content but I know the rest would be so much better for you down the long run.
I'M LATEE😭😭 Honestly custom order option sounds and looks so stressful mostly if you had to make it one by one and sometimes you had to order more yarn and stuff😭. You should close it frr.
Maybe check your reports, if there is a week that consistently has lower custom orders, I'd assume the last week of the month, maybe close it that week each month.
