Kinda funny story: I watched this video in Elementary school, and after hearing Jaiden say “she probably thought I was some flustered lesbian or something (2:00)”, I remember assuming “lesbian” meant “a really nice person” 🤣 (I didn’t know anything about the LGBT community at the time). One day, during recess, I overheard a group of girls gossiping about something. “Oh my god, did you hear so-and-so is a lesbian??” And so on. And after hearing this, I remember walking up to them and saying, “What’s wrong with being a lesbian?? I’m a lesbian!” They all gave me a weird look and just hurried off. Honestly - I think it’s hilarious and it always makes me laugh when I think back to it XD No regrets, really

I was once on the receiving end of a "stare off into nothingness." My friend noticed first, and was "dude you have a chick staring at you." I glanced to see, and my immediate response was "nah, she's completely zoned out. Staring off into nothingness." His response to me was "nah man, she's been looking at you for quite sometime." And in return my response was "Watch this," and a slammed my text book hard on the table, without looking away from the person staring. The way she shook as she regained her senses, was hilarious. She also wasn't the only one who zoned out, because there were two others in my field of view that gave the same shake back into consciousness. While those where weren't zoned out were staring at me, I was able to play it off as if nothing happened, causing confusion to those who were zoned out. That write up for disruptive behavior was totally worth it.

Fun little awkward story, so I worked at Walmart for like 5 years doing a bit of everything but mostly helping customers with stuff out to their cars, so they would usually thank me and I would become accustomed to ending conversations with "you're welcome." My brother who worked for Coca-Cola at the time was in our store frequently doing stuff for Coke, was talking to me in the store one day, and one of his superiors was dropping in, he walked up and we all chatted for a bit he introduced me to his boss as his brother, after a bit his boss leaves, shakes my hand and says, "well it was nice to meet you." I look him dead in the eyes and say "You're welcome." As though he was blessed to have made my acquaintance or something.

I know this is a really old video, but I've never related to anyone more in my life. All of us anxiety ridden introverts feel so alone, like, all the time. Today I went to the bank with my dad. I took advantage of the situation and tried to get some distance on my eggs in pokemon go. Lol, trust me, some of us can be awkward too. Mcdonald's worker here. I once brought the wrong order to the wrong customer and didn't realize until I was already in front of the customer and had to awkwardly go like "this actually isn't your order". I could've just pretended to check with them (I often check with customers who order through mobile to make sure we got their order right) and moved on like a normal person but nooooooooooooo I had to wait for them to roll down their window and be like "sorry, this isn't your order". I can't stop cringing at this ughughughhh xD

A little tip to help prevent a situation like the "staring" one from happening. Wear sunglasses everywhere you go. Less chance a person will think you are staring at them when they can't see your eyes. I'm bad at small talk too, so if I met you it would probably be both of us being super awkward the whole time.

2:44 I'VE DONE THAT AND I'VE NEVER FELT MORE GUILTY. I was super burnt out from cramming super hard at school everyday, and attending driving classes on the weekends, so I was sitting on a bus on the way home and my brain was fried. I wasn't tired enough to pass out, but I didn't have the energy to focus and let my eyes kinda just... glaze over. When I finally snapped out of it their was this, like... 12 year old girl just awkwardly shuffling around and looking SO scared trying not to look in my direction. At first I didn't think much of it until I realized how I must have looked, blankly staring at this poor little girl for about 10 minutes straight without blinking. And the worst thing was that she got off of the bus where I usually get off to start walking home, but I felt so bad and didn't want her to feel like I was gonna follow her home or kidnap her, so I just stayed on the bus for three more stops, went to a Barnes & Noble to pretend to read for almost two hours just to burn time and make ABSOLUTELY sure I wouldn't see her again. Surprisingly not my worst bus experience, but still pretty bad.

Here's a short little story. Back when I was in middle school, I was rushing down the hall in between classes (We had around 4 minutes to get to the next class) and I saw some kid I know hold his hand out. You know, the way someone usually does when asking for a high five? So I high fived the guy, and looked back only to see it was meant for someone else. I doubt anyone is gonna read this, but here goes. So a few years ago, me and my friend (who coincidentally had names that come right after each other on the attendance seat) were sitting in class, (I think it was ELA?) when we heard the teacher call both of our names. Call Me Swivel Hips, I've done worse. We were visiting my dads friends family and had just been at their house for a couple hours and said goodbye while they waited at the door waving goodbye when our car didn't start. This is so relatable, I do the same thing, I feel like the other person is getting bored being with me and they would rather do anything than be next to me, so to make things less awkward I try to make small talk but talking to someone who doesn't share the same interests as you is difficult and the other person makes it weirder by giving one line answers as if they are doing you a favour, so don't blame yourself too much, if the other girl put in some effort as well things probably wouldn't have ended on an awkward note. I usually stop talking once I figure out the other person isn't into the convo and would rather prefer the awkward silence over the not that awkward conversation, but it's their choice and I have decided to respect that!

I'm one of those "awkwardly quite" people. When I don't talk, it's not because I'm bored, it's because I have nothing to say and because I enjoy silence. For someone like me, the attempts at "small talk" are FAR more awkward than silence. When we're asked a question, we assume it's because you want the answer, not that it's an invitation to start talking, so we give the answer and go back to being ourselves. For me, silence isn't awkward at all, but forced small talk is awkward. Indeed, as mentioned, I actually enjoy silence, and I think it should be possible to enjoy silence even in the presence of others. Perhaps enjoy the shared experience of going on that walk, doing whatever activity, etc. without talking over/through it. Though I understand I am the minority in this regard. I have the feeling that this is where many of those "awkwardly quiet" people are coming from.
