I'm triggered (Bad Gear Roland TR8s)

Tr8s is a total bad gear, in most of the "bad gear" Florian is being sarcastic ironic and are actually very "cool gear", but in this case F is being serious BECAUSE, TR8s IS A TOTAL BAD GEAR, specifically because of their smart home controls and half bakedness in general. :)

Yeah, I mean, when the DFAM was on Bad Gear it was kind of obvious that there's amazing gear on "Bad Gear" too 😁 (Yes, I did buy a DFAM because of that episode...)

@@haslo_ DFAM? But yeah, he also reviewed the MPC, the Drumbrute(s), the Minibrute(s)... Outside of the Volca Nu-Bass, most of his reviews are actually quite positive and show that if you have talent, even the "most hated audio tools" can give really good results. For a meme channel, that guy knows a lot about audio gear...

@SamToulouse yeah I kind of get it, but I feel like he sometimes blur the lines between pure sarcasm and actual opinions, and it seemed to me from this latest episode that he actually did consider the TR8s to be a bad gear, hence my reaction to it. But as I mentioned in the video I do love his show and content, and I think he is doing brilliant and admirable job with those videos.

@@RandomNoiseMusic I would have to watch that episode again. Since I don't own a TR8s, I watched the video for the memes and the tunes and mostly ignored the review part. For gear I own, his reviews have mostly been positive, and the criticism was either justified (lack of mouse support on MPC annoys me as well) or I felt he was being too nice (failing to mention how difficult it is to read the red text on Arturia Noir series or the crappy Korg Windows Midi driver for NTS-1 and Electribe 2 reviews). I follow your content because I enjoy your jams and you use some gear I own so it gives me ideas, so seeing a bit of drama here got me curious. I am kind of hoping for a bit of a friendly beef over that since yours and Florian's are some of my favourite channels.

I do start to realize I might have fallen here into some unnecessary drama I really didn't intended too lol I guess I was a bit impulsive with this video. I am certainly not looking to have any beef with Florian 😄 and thanks for the kind words btw! 🙏

Noted on the De-Esser! I actually didn't apply any processing here on my voice 😅 Agree, and I as well have seen it featured in so many live performance. It is really one of the best drum machines available in the market now

Do you mean record into the TR8s? no its not a groove box or workstation, but a drum machine so not really designed for that if I understand the question correctly

I think you will need some sort of audio recorder like the Zoom. I have started to use Zoom H6 essential recently and really like it. You can record a few tracks with it. Or you can buy an audio interface and record on the computer. It really depends on your need. If you just want to jam and record the system 1 and Electribe 2, then a simple Zoom H4 will be good for that

Hey! first no, I am not offended, I just felt that putting the TR8s on a show dedicated to "bad gear" is not doing it justice. You are absolute right that he didn't explicitly said that it is a "bad gear", but concluding it as as a drum machine that can't stand in a fair dame with the competition is something that I strongly disagree with, and so I felt the need to react. And yes I am creating content, like I said in the video it's a fair game for RU-vid 😄 but I was being honest with my reaction, and it came from an honest place. Although I can agree that I might have been too impulsive on that one (you can see in my channel that I've never made any similar video to that lol). Listen, I am actually a fan of Florian and I do get the concept of the show, but it is not always clear when he is being sarcastic, to when he really means what he says. There were already a few cases in the past where he admitted to his mistake to include this or that piece of gear in his show. Anyhow the TR8S is far from being perfect and I actually agree with the points your raised here, a bigger screen showing the pattern will definitely be a big improvement, nonetheless at least we agree its an awesome drum machine 😄

I think this applies to most (all?) youtube review shows. Even if "the company has no say on that review", in reality, they will stop sending you products for review if you roast them. I think Bad Gear is actually an exception because Florian does not take himself seriously which ironically allows him to actually mention the flaws of the products he reviews. Also, AFAIK, he never receives gear from manufacturers, only from his local store which he barely mentions which makes him more independent than most reviewers.
