I'm a little bit embarrassed I not think about this myself before you said so today. Damn, I have so much footage that could do great on stock footage sites. Living in Norway has some benefits 🙈 Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. I have been a long time user of artlist, so artgrid is my first place to go. Glad that you did this video! :) One questions: when it comes to model release does artgrid accept digital signature & does each clip you submit require a location release even if it is outdoors in a public area?

Thanks, Sam! Good questions. I use 'Easy Release' for my release forms. They're super chill and accept digital signed forms. Even if the form is not their own (like what I do with Easy Release). Location releases are only for like Eifeltower and stuff. I never signed any of them ;-)

Cheers Paul! Artgrid withholds 10% because that the deal Isreal has with The Netherlands. Feedback not, but we do get newsletters with hot topics. You can get a download sheet to track your best clips. Passive income this year is 5000$ higher than last year haha, a good year :-)

Which camera settings do you use to record stockfootage? If you shoot one clip, do you record in different frame rates to have more variation? Or do you provide a clip directly in slow motion? Are you shooting the same scene from different angles to have, again, more clips at the end? What‘s the best way? Thanks

I rarely shoot stockfootage for the sake of stockfootage. I just go out and shoot fun shit, come home and pick out the good parts and throw that online!

I upload my stockfootage on Pond5, so far I have 830 clips. I made a little over 100$ which is really cool. I shoot with a G7 and mostly vintage zoom lenses. My main topic is wildlife, but I need to get better at timelapses (I have a flickering issue with those). Great video!

@@CreativeMediaTV in about 1,5 years. I have times where I upload but don't sell anything, and then next month two sales. It's more of a 'upload and forget about it' kind of thing. I try to rewrite all the titles and tags of the clips atm to see if my views/sales go up But I mostly do it to put my footage somewhere so someone can benefit from it

Love your channel, Sjoerd! Such beautiful aesthetics. My main passive income is actually renting my equipment out on days where I'm not shooting. I wanted to do stock footage for a while though cause it can also totally elevate the career. I didn't take the time yet and couldn't decide between Artgrid / Filmsupply or a third party. So a couple of questions: Do you need to submit BM6K Raw-Files? Is 12:1 compression fine? Do you upload the RAWs or graded and trimmed .mp4s? What works best in your experience? Model footage or landscapes, etc.? And mostly tripod or a lot of gimbal and handheld stuff? And a couple equipment questions: I´ve seen your Easyrig setup on Instagram. Do you also use a Gimbal though? Would love to get a couple of answers. Keep it up and thanks for the great content :)

Hi mate! Thanks a lot: Answers: BRAW upload, yes! They love RAW :-). Compression is fine. As long as its RAW. I upload trimmed RAWS (doable in Resolve in media management), then also Graded PRORESS files. They'll inform you on that as well. The variety of footage is important. They send emails every week with hot topics :-). I use a RS2 sometimes. Love handheld more tho. Static or handheld. Dont like the robot feel of a gimbal, but for some situations its gold!

Thanks for the insights! I've been on BlackBox for a litlle over a year now. Not very active and have just arround 100 clips with a total revenue to date of arround 250 USD. I've been thinking of investing myself much more on this but was also doubting if I should continue with BBox or go to ArtGrid. What do you think?

Definitely try Artgrid man. Its way way way more profitable. Just try to get in with your portfolio.. its pretty difficult

25fps always! You can have slowmo, but its always uploaded in 25. Or 24 depending which part of the world you are

Light. It's there but can be gone like nothing. It can be hot, it can be not. It can exist where nothing else can, a vacuum. You can simply block it out, but not quite. It can be reflected, absorbed, refracted, combined. And you know the kicker? We don't really know why, and most of it we can't see anyway. Freaking. Terrifying. (Quick note, I'm not scared of light itself or lit rooms and stuff, I'm scared of what it is and the concept of it)

After seeing your video i applied for Artgrid and got accepted, i uploaded footage through 2022 and in my first year i made 6k USD with only 100-500 clips online. @@purplesoultherapy to get accepted into the Artgrid all you need to have is the portafolio i described in the previous comment, once you're in, if you want to submit footage, it is preferable if you submit both, Log and Graded, but not obligatory . if it's animation you can get away with only uploading one version easier

I'm wondering about the process of uploading log footage. If I cut log and don't grade it but export it with resolve, will that retain its log qualities? If not, how do do I edit log so that it does contain its properties?

Hi Sjoerd, thank you for this video. I already applied to Artgrid once, but they denied me. I understand that my gear is enough but I don't have enough 4K 200mb/s or 400mb/s footage in my portfolio (I have more than 1000 clips but mostly HD or 4K with an old camera). Now I'm trying to shoot and prepare a new 4K set. Then I' will apply again with this set when it will contain at least 100 creative Footages, 72 for now, I can share if you want. Do you have any suggestions, I would appreciate it. Sorry for the loooong questions, thanks 😅

Hi Sjoerd, you didn’t make a video for your earnings in both 2022 and 2023. I counted about 700 clips on your portfolio. Were you happy with your 2023 earnings? I started contributing to Artgrid this year.

You forgot to mention how much effort it takes to upload the footage to Artgrid through their horrendous and archaic FTP methods, and how you have to create a perfect subfolder system for the (3) types of footage (RAW/LOG/Graded) and if it's not perfect it could take months for your footage to be uploaded to the site correctly... and the payouts are just sad. I use to make $3500-5000/clip and now these subscription-based models have completely obliterated rights-managed sales for the most part. Not saying you shouldn't be making money this way, but saying you made $4.7k over 12 months is just depressing.

4700 euros for 30 clips and not even a day of work is quite alright to me. I have never sold footage during the 'golden age'. So I can't speak along on what you must be feeling. For me, it's a nice extra income source for footage I already have shot for other projects.

thanks for the info. like stock photography; stock video is also a total waste of time. zero ROI. sad. to make money with your camera look into real estate photography, weddings, family, graduation, maternity. stock photography died in 2012

You're seeing it wrong imo. I work fulltime as a filmmaker/cinematographer and many projects allow me to shoot stuff on the side which I upload to Artlist. Costs me maybe a couple hours to sort and export. Uploading goes overnight. This makes me 10k per year. It's a stream of income. Yes, markets change, but thats the way things go. Better adapt right :-)?

@@SjoerdWess i have not tested artgrid yet. But Shutterstock was my best before. You did earn around 5-50$ per download. Today is it 0,25$ 😭 For video. Hmmm

Some of my videos are downloaded 200 times a day. Overtime this results in 80% more income than I’d ever made on Shutterstock

stock artgrid for professionals only. many people with good portfolios in other stocks applied and were rejected. your video will not help people get there.

This wasnt always the case. But yes, its hard to get in now. See it as a general push to do stock footage!
