Honestly that's what I DISLIKE about getting placements cuz personally ion care for KNOWING l the big names or having relationships with ppl just so I can get ahead just wanna play my music and find ppl who genuinely want to work with me cuz they like my sound not cuz they're the right person to know in a given situation... TRASH!!! Ion even like being around too many ppl when I'm cooking up it takes away from my craft. But then again that's the standard 🤦🏽🤷🏽

Not 100% correct. Maybe correct for the type of music brief demonstrated in this video. Anyone watching this please remember SYNC is a big world and there are so many different styles needed for SYNC. I am so glad for that.

Congrats on that placement you landed first off. Secondly I really want to say THANK YOU so much for your candidness and honesty at the end. I have been in Sync world for some time and seem to get much less placements than I used to. It's nice and refreshing to see someone tell it like it really is rather than everyone else out there making it sound so easy anyone can do it so that you buy their course. I know there are some good courses out there that can give you the knowledge needed but I don't feel in this current age it's as easy as everyone makes it out to be. Thanks Daniel.

Syn licensing is def not for one hit wonders. Not saying that you are but once u got a placement ur expected to continue they expect you to put in work and if that was my nine to five . Def can make a career out of it. Its on the works and when I land two placements to cover my bills for 6 months im then quitting my day job to focus on this for the rest of my life .

Thanks for watching! You're absolutely correct. We were getting paid up-front production fees on 30-50 songs per month so for us it didn't make sense to solely focus on sync at that time - it was a very cool experience though.

I've been trying a few different libraries over the past few years. I do not have a relationship with any music supervisor(s). I will say this; IF I knew a supervisor/agent, I would probably be light years ahead of where I am. The libraries I use, are competition with every bedroom producer known in the world. I have had a little success(financially speaking, probably enough to pay for all of my set up I've acquired over the years). Not making a living, and not landed a "big deal" as of yet. I will continue this path because I love making music and I know that one day I will "break through". Until then, KEEP CREATING!

Hi, like your video. I'm a new filmmaker and about to sign a sync license contract to get a few songs for use in my upcoming film. The language seems expansive and covers lots of stuff. But the "Permitted Media" says "all internet and socials". Not sure what this means. I don't want my future film on RU-vid, I want to sell license it off to Tubi or Netflix or even get it into theaters. Does that "Permitted Media" being "all internet and socials" limit me? Or is that just standard language? Thanks. (I know I may have to get Legal Zoom for an official answer but any thoughts are appreciated).

Hey Dark Label Music. Would you please shed some light on how you organize yourself, your studio, your computer, your external hard drive(s), your business and paperwork with regard to sync? I know that's probably a lot but, there are song sessions that are finished and some that are not! There is paperwork to keep track of. Libraries to keep track of and templates to keep track of - etc. How do you do it? What are your strategies for keeping track of all of this?

you meet people. either online or offline...the more personal it is, the better the business! Take it as a real business, not something like a fairy tale or some shit. Sync is a REAL Business!
