When I was little I would grab the peanut butter and crawl under the kitchen table and eat it from the jar with a soda spoon. Having a peanut butter dealer sounds perfectly reasonable to me.
as a maker you can only see the little mistakes, the details. But as a viewer it was stunning! I loved the colours and I loved the flavours. Also, good chaos crafting yet again.
Just a pro tip, the drizzle you were talking about is SO MUCH easier to make. And it's just basically 1 Cup powdered sugar (a.k.a. confectioners sugar) and like 2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice.
Hi first of all I loved your video lol second I’m actually a pastry chef and I make cakes for a living and may I say bravoooo!!!!! My first ever cake looked like a dumpster fire 🔥 so you honestly did great! Plus I love those flavors! ❤
Thank you, you're very kind. I have even more respect for pastry chef's craft now! For a while when I was younger I wanted to be a pastry chef, but wow, professionals are on a whole other level! 🤩
First off: you did great! Second: I think this is a nice cautionary tale for any crafty frugal person who considers baking their own wedding etc cake. And by that I mean me. Cuz damn I'd half ass this on a good day, and it would not be worth the added stress on my wedding day. Nooope❤
Thank you! And honestly that is a great point. If I hadn't already been making my wedding dress I bet I would have tried to do a cake for my wedding and we've all seen how that would have gone 😂
Watching your manic baking energy just made me so happy. I was laughing so hard, I pulled a muscle. Love the end result - the colors were amazing and I'm sure it tasted superb.
You diving into this half cocked is just so my energy. The number of times I’ve started a project and severely overestimated my own skill and underestimated the difficulty of the project is off the charts 😭😭😭 That said I think the cake looked great! Frosting is so hard to master and you did some lovely detailing
Gina your comment is just what I needed ❤ I was pretty nervous to post this one because it's quite different. Thank you for hanging out and spending your wind down time with me! 🥰
I think you're being way too hard on yourself - the cake turned out fantastic 🥰 And if anyone would go to that much trouble for me it would make my day. Your family was clearly very impressed as well 😊
Aww thank you, you're too kind! I think my family was mostly surprised though because I didn't tell them what I was bringing 😂 But I do think my parents appreciated it ❤❤
Haha thank you, they are extremely supportive. Although I think most of their reaction can be boiled down to I didn't tell them I was bringing cake at all so I think it was mostly shock 😂
New viewer watching the backlog. Honestly, as someone who used to make all the celebration cakes for my complicated food needs family, you honestly did so well. Doing what you did without half the tools I aquired over years of practice... BRAVO. Also as a side note as a fellow Australian who made decorated vegan caked in summer. Double great job! Nutlex just does not set the same as stick butter especially in aussie summer heat ❤❤. My first cakes literally turned to rubber and my first attempts as flavoured frosting literally melted off the cake. Tiered, home made icing, also dyed and flavoured frosting, filled layers, I mean... what a mamoth task and you did amazingly!
Oh thank you so much! That makes me feel so much better about my attempt. I had absolutely no idea how much I was taking on when I started. It was soooo hot too, such a poorly timed project 😂
I usually don't comment on videos, but I just can't not comment right now. I'm having a really dumb week and my mental health requires me to watch to much youtube. I've been binging (is this how you write that word?) your videos for two days now. And after this one I'm feeling so much better! Thank you, I love your content and your chaotic energy
I'm sorry you're having such a crummy week, I hope things get better asap. Thank you for sharing that, it really means so much to know that my silly little videos have helped 😊 We're all about having a safe and cozy corner of the internet here. Thanks for hanging out ❤🤗
First of all, I'm here to stay. I have turned on notifications to prove I'm staying. Second of all, 100.4 degrees fahrenheit. No. I would be going no where. Rotting. In a bath of ice water. Finally, you did an AMAZING job plus excellent content. Thank you and i hope you're doing okay.
❤❤❤ Welcome back! I'm so happy you stayed for the baking content (tbh I was a bit nervous putting this one out). And thank you, yes - THE HEAT. Wow what a bad week to be baking and frosting. I actually did have a cold bath at one point! Thank you so much for your support, you're very sweet 🥰❤
ruin? Nonononono I will always enjoy watching people make cakes. Cake good. you do all the makey crafty things, I'm here because you have a bubbly chaos energy that I quite enjoy as it helps me feel better about my own chaos energy :D More chaos, please :D
Aww thank you so much! I WILL keep doing all the makey crafty things and that is also how I'm going to describe it now😄 Also I don't think I am able to do anything without the chaos, so I can confirm more is coming 😂 Thank you for being here!
That’s so impressive!! So many piping techniques and colors and cakes! If you ever make Swiss meringue again, try making French meringue with the yolks. It’s the richest frosting ever (because the yolks are pure fat and then you add butter), but it’s amazingly decadent and is over the few buttercream techniques that tastes different than other buttercreams even before you add flavorings.
this was an Experience :D honestly if you did this with box mix and storebought jam I sitll would be impressed, but doing everything from scratch is INSANE! well done!
You can tell that my adhd meds are working because I needed to get up and make a snack and a drink 15 minutes ago but I'm pausing your video ONLY ten minutes into it to do that thing and come back. Which is practically immediate. Anyway, enjoying the cake making very much.
OK that was genuinely impressive!! Cake decorating is the worst, and that looked pretty fancy in the end. I did lose it laughing at the point when you said you don't even like frosted cake.
It looks perfect! I love cake and I especially love frosting and Swiss meringue buttercream is my very favorite! It’s even my favorite to make. And you were quite clever to find out what to do with the egg yolks!
This is so valid. A few weeks before my friends birthday i decided I was gonna try and make a vegan red velvet cake (I have never made a cake before) for his party. I manged to make some acceptable cupcakes 😂😂 and I think about two got eaten (not because they were bad, people just wanted bbq food and not cake!)
I think it looks really good for a first try at something like that. I think if you decide to try again it'll go a lot better. Might be a fun new hobby or something.
You need to change the name of your channel to "Adventures with Ash". It's always an interesting experience watching your process. The little thingy that let's you change out tips is pronounced ""cup-ler". You were right the first time.
It looked great! I bet if an expert chef tried it in our Aussie heat too, they could not have done better than you did! Great work and I'm glad you got to share it with family 😊 (and didn't drop it 😂)
You know it didn't even occur to me that the heat might have been why my frosting was so melty coming coming out of the piping bag 😂😂 Thank you so much! Also, I am personally amazed that the cake made it to my parents house in one piece 😅
It turned out amazing. Plus lemon-blueberry is an excellent flavour combo. Have you tried the Ottolenghi almond, lemon, blueberry cake? Its a crowd pleaser for when you feel like juicing more lemons 😅
OOooooooohhh that looks amazing - I love cakes made with almond meal (some days I just get a craving for friands that nothing else will satisfy) and I am saving that recipe for the next time I can look at a lemon. Thank you!
ASH …… you are just BLOODY BRILLIANT….. well done for having a go … and …. It looked great (from a distance) …. Only joking!!! I am so impressed I wouldn’t have even tried … and I loved the colours too … 💖💖💖💖💖
@@ashbentley 😂😂😂. It made me laugh when you said the Wish version … see if I tried this and tried to hide the messy icing with more icing it would end up 3 inches thick with icing …. If you ever come to the London UK …. I would love to meet you , you always put a huge smile on my face 💖💖💖
Oh and the colours that were so confusing. I'd hazard a guess if no one else has already mentioned. The base cake was probably one colour, and the gradient airbrushed on afterwards in order to make the decoration fade with the ombre on the original.
Reminds me of the time, I was like I want to make a croquembouche even though I've never made choux pastry before. At least yours turned out and looked delicious. Mine didn't.
this remind me i need to take out the butter so it get room tempatured to be used today and btw why it was little griney when you did the batter it was cold butter you used rigth? next time let it sit out and then it mix better And btw that skirt with huge arms you often have on have you made it and pattern then or what? or bougth? then from where
Yes I think the butter might have been too cold - I always forget to take it out! The dress with the puffy sleeves is from an Australian brand called Shona Joy - best to get them on sale! I'll try to recreate one of their puffy sleeve shirts soon so hopefully that will help 🥰
