The blue parts look absolutely insane, maybe with a touch of black tint, the raw carbon would look even better, or maybe some metallic sparkle. I've just discovered your channel and I'm delighted, your craftsmanship is a joy to watch
Thank you very much! This was the first time I experimented with some colour and I must say my mind is already full of ideas for the next project. I think a light coat of metallic paint will be on the cards😁
Really interesting and would never have thought of that. I noticed some panels seemed a bit uneven. Almost like the panel wasn't smooth under the carbon fibre. Was this down to preparation or another reason? Also was the clear coat sprayed on or brushed? I presume you can spray it on like a normal paint job?
Thanks! Yes some panels do show a little unevenness. If I did it again I would spend more time to smooth out the repairs with some filler and put more layers of resin so I can sand it down better before sanding into the carbon. The clear was sprayed on. But another option is to simply polish the resin to a shine
curious to see how long the carbon fibre stays looking nice , i suspect the bonding of the resin with the plastic isnt verry good as the plastic acts like teflon , i seen some repairs on these panels and they allways crack again or have the bodyfiller let loose from the plastic the carbon fiber does look awesome , maibe IF i decide to do the same thing i will make the front and rear piece in carbon while its still mounted together , that should take care of the parts fitting together properly , the thickness of the carbon fiber over the existing panels messes with the connecting points a little
You are a good man, you deserve more views and attention, I suggest that you try collaborating with other youtubers and work more on the thumbnail and other platforms of Social media to promote your builds. Also I am curious to know the status of your Mclaren F1 LM, where is it? And is it road legal? Many thanks.
Thanks for the kind words! I am still learning a lot about thumbnails and social media (maybe I should get someone who can help?). But thanks for you comment!
I still have it. We are in the process of getting it road registered. All documentation has been handed in. Now I must wait for the red tape. But I still drive it from time to time
@@BroughBuilt after seeing your McLaren build, I got inspired to create my own replica of a JDM body kit for my Corolla… so I have numerous pictures, which I have used, in combination with the car dimensions to make a rough idea of what I need to form using foam and some printed parts. Then possibly create the final kit in fibreglass, or maybe carbon if it’s feasible.
