I love this co-driver pack and will NOT be switching to any other one. But I just finished my first stage with this pack and noticed the 'Well done!" remark at the end, and I am so happy that you included all these little details. Thanks man!
Ha hopefully not 😅 I don't think I'd last two minutes in the passenger seat, especially if they drive like I do! Thanks again for the groundwork you did with the Nicky Grist pack and the permissions for me to put this together 👍
Thanks Adam 😎 feels good to be able to take on an audio project like this again and use my old skills to be able to give something back to the community. Also, I'm not sure being able to blame myself is too much of an issue, it's usually my fault anyway so at least this way it removes all doubt 😉
You're far too kind 😅 trying to get audio levels right, especially when it's live and Discord voices can vary so dramatically, is a constant battle. Having the background certainly helps but never makes it any less stressful ha!
Happy to hear that I was able to guide you through, bin free 😆 although I'll have to look into this as a potential bug with the pack, normally there are bins so I think I might have screwed something up here...
Those are the kind of notes that can really make a difference 😉 if there is some more time to gain by pushing a little bit extra (where it is safe, of course) then a "be brave" call is the right thing to add. Same for corners which always cause problems, an extra "caution" or "remember" can be the difference between a stage time or not. I really love the ability to add/edit pace notes in Richard Burns Rally, it takes all of the guesswork and interpretation out of driving 👍 and is also what the real drivers/co-drivers would do, tweaking their pacenotes to suit the stage and driving style.
@@DDFRacer One last thing to add. I love how descriptive the notes are and how clearly you enunciate the words. I'm much more confident in going flat out and I've seen a massive improvement on all my times on RBR stages. Thanks again!
Duly noted 😎 coming back to this pack to expand it for other options and neaten up a few audio files/timing issues is definitely on my to-do list...life just got a little bit busy recently ha!
good job! But i want to say, in rbrpro2 launcher people can choose russian co-driver, and this one has a bonus words and bonus explains. for example - 3 right and after HOUSE 4 left. i want to say, if you add in ddf co-driver bonus explains like after HOUSE or after TREE, your co-driver will be best in the world! Sorry for my English, i am studying)
Your English is good 😎 don't worry about it! The words you mentioned (house, tree, post and many more) are all available in the pace notes editor 👍 I recorded the audio for these however not all stages use them by default. Luppis pace notes tend to focus mostly on the corner radius and distance instead of going into more detail with roadside objects, but they can be added in very easily using the editor if those details are required.
@@DDFRacer yikes! 🤣 I can understand that perspective - As much as we would all rather hear you than the typical guy saying 'still there ... Still there ... Still there'
Incredible work, sounds very real! I'm using Numeric C with Janne so if you end up doing the work to include that scale as well I'd immediately try it out! Awesome job regardless
You're one of many who has mentioned Numeric C 😉 so the pressure is definitely growing! To be fair, having spent the majority of my time rallying in DiRT Rally 2.0 over the past few years, I'm used to hearing Square calls so it's strange to be missing them now. Hopefully I can re-use most of the samples I've already recorded and it shouldn't be too difficult to make 🤞
@@DDFRaceras someone who's only played Dirt Rally 1/2.0 over the last 10 years, I am looking for a similar scale Co driver. I just installed RBR a couple days ago. I'm using your pack currently but it's causing me to have to think about the call outs instead of just responding because they're different. Not your fault just another +1 for requesting Numeric C it that's closer to Dirt Rally!
Ha yeah, a far cry from my first attempt after the failed Czech rally a few weeks ago 😬 it's an absolute monster of a car but you can't drive it like one, the inputs need to be so gentle, especially the handbrake and throttle, I'm rarely ever completely flat on my right foot. So much fun though!
Nice! I was literally just thinking last night...I'd like to try a new co-driver. I'm currently trying Darren...which is great...I am just looking for some variety. I will give it a go. Cheers
Can confirm it's something I've custom made in SumHub 👍 I have a consistent design between the different sims I use and have most of them for download on my Discord server but Richard Burns Rally is only something I've gotten into recently so haven't made a public version yet. Definitely something on my to-do list though!
I believe the way pace notes work in Richard Burns Rally is to allow 0.5sec for each audio file, not sure if that can be tweaked, so in this case it was three separate calls but because they were cramped into such a short space it messed up the phrasing 🤔 it should ideally be something more like "into 3 left long - round - and short 5 right over crest".
Would love to know if you use any off standard stabilisation methods for the VR, your videos always look smooth as heck with a nice FOV. I can't find anything similar messing around in the oculus doohickies.
Thanks for the kind words mate, the stabilisation is actually something I worked on quite recently! It's using the built in Oculus mirror, no special extras 👍 here are my settings: Mirror Type: Rectilinear Eye: Left Allow FOV Stencil: No FOV X-Axis: 140% FOV Y-Axis: 100% Crop To Symmetric FOV: Yes System Layer Visibility: Guardian, Notifications and GUI off Image Stabilisation Enabled: Yes Image Stabilisation Keep Upright: Yes Image Stabilisation Parameters Profile: Mild
And so it begins 🤣 it wasn't easy getting that time but once I figured out how to balance between clutch, handbrake and throttle in those hairpins I managed to find a stack of time. So incredibly satisfying, looking forward to seeing my time get beaten mate so I can get back out and drive this combo again!
Nice. I really like Nicky Grist - and now we have DDF voice as well. However, immediately, in this Valstegna driving, I hear the finnish(?) SUMPPU message, that I know to well from Luppis v3. Do you happen to know, if it's possible to "batch substitude" this finnish word in the pacenotes once and for all?
@@benofficial2I think "sumppu" means "narrows" or"narrowing". I can't remember the word being used in Luppis v2, but maybe I'm mistaking? Or maybe it is simply a generic rally term (that happens to be of finnish origin). Anyway, as the plebeian that I am, I think I would like the codriver speaking in only one language :-)
I don't think there is an equivalent in Luppis V2. Summpu essentially translates as "bottleneck" but I prefer the Finnish word and hasn't taken me too long to get used to it
Not going to lie, the Sumppu call caught me off guard at first, especially with Nicky's accent 😅 after every call I'd be like "where poo?" because, of course, I'm a child like that. I thought about replacing it with an English word also but, same as Ursine Saturn, it became familiar to me quite quickly and it's nice short word which gets the point across very quickly. The way I interpret Sumppu is basically "take it easy through the mid corner and don't go out wide on exit, because" which can be different to "narrows" or "caution". Narrows is when the road becomes smaller, caution is for an object or hazard whereas sumppu lets you know that a conventional line probably isn't a good idea, better to take it at about 90% instead of maximising the road. You could always lower the corner number from a 4 to 3 example, but then that might lead you to believe the radius of the corner is tighter than it actually is.
The biggest thing that made the difference for me was saving the audio files at 11kHz instead of the usual 44kHz 👍 I also applied some heavy compression and slight distortion too.
There's a few different pacenote structures used and each one has slight variations unfortunately, the one I've used is a direct copy from the Nicky Grist pack which uses 2 for a 90 degree corner. I originally started out in DiRT Rally and 2.0 a few years ago so was used to the Hairpin, 90, 1, 2, 3 etc structure but the way RBR works is a little different. There are other packs out there, notably Janne's, which offer different structures 👍 I've considered converting mine to a few others but it's a _lot_ of extra work 😅
You're not the only one mate, so it's definitely on the to-do list 👍 but no ETA at this stage, got a few other things in the pipeline to get finished first.
I don't know if it's just my American ear shorting out on British pronunciation or it's a rally term I'm unfamiliar with, but what is "supu"? (Example at about 4:50 but the word is scattered all over the pace notes apparently.) I should add that otherwise these sound awesome and I think I am downloading them as soon as I get home. I can understand everything else really clearly.
You're not the first to be caught out by that word, it definitely got my attention too and needed a bit of research before recording so I could understand the context! It's "Summpu" which is a Finnish word and doesn't really have a direct single word translation into English, although at a stretch I guess "Tightens" or "Caution" would suffice, although not exactly. It's basically a warning that you can't go full attack and take the usual line through a corner to run it wide on exit, either due to a hazard which might not be obvious at first or because you need to keep the car within the limit of grip to be able to react. Hope this helps 👍
