I am so impressed with this video and with your accomplishments. Your message about taking a fist step, then a second and to keep going and to keep learning from experience is really inspirational. I'm old enough to be one of your grandparents and I've learned and been inspired by you! You never talk about "talent" but rather about learning and practice and I so admire that. I don't really believe there is such a thing as "talent" but there is such a thing as putting in the work, learning from one's mistakes and from one's successes. What a wonderful message for those who think that some people have "talent" to do things and others don't . While I don't doubt you have talent, at the end of the day, talent means nothing. Putting in the work means everything, and you demonstrate again and again what can happen when a person puts in the work. The dress, while a thing of beauty, is not the real accomplishment here. The skill you've achieved is the real accomplishment. The person you turned yourself into by working toward your achievement is the accomplishment. What a wonderful example of how to live this life. I have every reason to think your daughters will learn this lesson from you, and if they do, what a wonderful legacy that will be.
Girl ❤️ you had me in tears; I'm so proud of you. I'm also so thankful that you share both your talents, passions and raw experiences with us. I've taken on new sewing projects that I would have previously avoided because I've been so inspired watching you and other sewists on RU-vid. Your style of teaching is so calming and makes me confident that I can probably do anything; thank you for giving me that gift!!!
I'm sitting here in tears as I type because I relate so closely to everything that you've said. How amazing and so incredibly talented and inspiring you are to me right now in this moment. Thank you so much for sharing and just being. Lots of LOVE!
"I put in the time, the effort and acquired the knowledge." And you didn't just create a beautiful dress. You created yourself as a person with that capability. A life lesson if ever there was one.
I have no words. I watched all 6 videos and I kept thinking: wow, I'll never be able to do this, I would mess up at every step, oh wow how does she do it.. and then I come to this, where you're talking directly to my soul. Thank you.
I cried through this whole video. You touched my heart. I'm pursuing my dream of learning couture sewing and my dream is to have a family gathering where everyone in the family is wearing a couture outfit made by me. This whole series you've made is incredible. My family has believed in me and encouraged my sewing, too. It's been such a blessing that I'm so grateful for. I'm so proud when I make something that is gorgeous inside and out. I can't wait to see you make more couture dresses. This one is a work of art!!
That was such a beautiful ending to this series. The investment in yourself coupled with what you learned and shared was heartwarming. I don’t know you but I feel so proud for you. Thank you for sharing.
This is the best thing I've seen in a while. It's so inspiring to know that we're not alone in our fears and self-doubts when it comes to our creativity - I think we all feel, at some point, like maybe we're not worth the fancy fabric. Love knowing how lucky you are to be surrounded by people who support you. Keep making great videos and being real - we'll be here to root you on too!
Thank you so much for your sweet comment. It's true that we can easily avoid making a big leap just because we are afraid and not because we lack the skills. Having a supportive team can really be a huge help in moving forward.
I think by now you definitely know how talented you truly are! Paige you inspire me, what a perfect dress! Thanks for taking us along with you, I am a bit teary eye watching as well.
It's not just a silly dress! It's your expression, it's your art, it's your skill, tenacity and your love. Plus, you thought us, made us smile and happy. Please keep up. 🤗
Dear Paige!I'm just a beginner but thanks to you I am close to finish a half circle skirt with no experience and a very basic machine! I really really love your videos, you explain everything so detailed and it's just great to watch and sew. you are a true inspiration for me and I thank you for that. The dress is amazing, I will do try it when i will feel more confident in my sewing skills. please keep on uploding videos, you are great!
Thank you so much for being kind and generous enough to share all of this. I'm an older sewer, I make clothes for my wife (and myself). She said recently in an emotional way how much she loves that I make her things. I was so touched. As I watched this project unfold I've learned so much from you young lady. I think you're totally right to be proud of yourself - I'm guessing your husband and family are very proud too. I'm responding because of your heartfelt video at the end. I too have never been taught 'properly', only my lovely wife teaching and encouraging me and then all of the fantastic folk on RU-vid generously sharing like you have. Very best wishes and greetings from North Wales UK.
Thank you for your kind message. I am glad to have shared my experience with this project and I hope it is both inspirational and useful. It is very special that you sew for your wife.
Proud you should be. The dress is fabulously stunning. I loved this sewing series. You've inspired me to pull out my book on couture sewing techniques, which has been collecting dust for years, and learn to incorporate these techniques into my modest and early sewing adventure (and I'm an old lady of 61!, but that won't stop me from taking on a new adventure). I'm sure you felt like a queen on your birthday/anniversary celebratory dinner. Congratulations.
The most wholesome and underrated clip and channel of all RU-vid sewing tutorials. My heart is singing for you! Happy birthday either 4 months early or 8 months late. 🤗
WOW, this series was amazing! Your approach to teaching and explaining made this a joy to watch. Your dress is absolutely stunning. Thank you for sharing your talent!!
Girl! Even I was emotional after seeing all the process! ❤️ I needed to see and hear all of this. Thank you! You've inspired me so much, you cannot imagine! 😭❤️
I just watches your video for start to finish on how to make this beautiful dress. I do not know how you hand stitch this beautiful cocktail dress, doing the fitting and everything without using the sewing machine. Well done.
You look absolutely gorgeous in it. You have inspired me to attempt making my own. Wonderful video, thank you. Your husband must feel so proud of you, and lucky to be married to such a beautiful, intelligent, accomplished woman.
😪 well done Paige! As you rightly said “It’s not about the dress”. Determination truly pays off, and we grow through our experiences. I’ve been sewing for decades, but stopped for the last few years due to ill health, but mainly discouragement (namely making beautiful clothes that don’t fit perfectly 😖). So determined not to let this defeat me, I’ve bought the book “Fit for real People”, and am going through that whilst being inspired by RU-vid videos like yours 🤗, and I have no doubt that soon I will not only love everything I make, but it’s gonna fit like a glove. 😊 Thanks for helping me to see that it CAN be done. 😉
You are so very talented and this dress is perfection. The patience it took to painstakingly construct this masterpiece has amazed me. And the fact that you taught yourself how to do all this confirms everything I just said. You deserve it. You did it. Thank you for sharing this with us. I learned so much. Hope you had a wonderful night with your husband. And hope you make more beautiful dresses in the future.
You are so beautiful and this dress although very challenging but you succeeded with flying colours. But more than that you have taught us the real secrets of couture dress making like a great teacher. Thank you ❤️👍
I started watching ur first video and watched all of six together at once, girl ur extremely talented, the way u talk shows how beautiful ur soul is, liked every single video of urs and couldn't stopped my self from subscribing, ur an inspiration for all those people who want to do something but just don't believe in themselves, It seems like ur blessed with a very supportive family, May God bless u and ur family, the dress is exceptionally beautiful, keep smiling.
Congrats Paige for such a beautiful dress, you look amazing ! I'm glad that your husband is a good man and support you always, it's a blessing ! You are so sweet, wishing you all the best.
You look gorgeous. Thank you so much for the finishing techniques especially. I learned so much that I will be using in all of my future coutute dresses for my very expensive fashion dolls. I might even make something for myself. You are amazing.
This video brought me to tears. You spoke to me thru your experience. I am now in the research process of learning how to make a couture type dress. A friend of mine asked me to make her mother of the groom dress for her son's wedding. At first I was skeptical, and scared. So nervous that she would ask me to create such a meaning ful dress as a mother of the groom gown. But your video inspired me so much. I think I now have the courage to actually do this!! I watched all 6 episodes of your process, and learned alot. Thank you for sharing this. You are an awesome seamstress and such a sweet person.
I'm in tears , this is so inspiring and I'm disappointed w myself cus why am I seeing this just now. Watched these 6 videos in one sitting and girl you just inspire me to make my own couture dress. Btw I'm just 20 and I'm excited and i luv u! Tysm for this.
You are so amazing! Beautiful dress, and you are SO right about being a learner. I'm a self-taught sewer as well, and I completely had similar feelings when I made my first dress. You are so, so so worth it! Can't wait to see where we both are this time next year!
I am a 60yr old fella from the UK... I have sewn for some years, sewing is my absolute passion. I have watched HUNDREDS of videos, but after watching yours on the making of your BEAUTIFUL dress, I have never felt so inspired, by another human being, the way you have inspired me. I just wanted you to know how far across the pond, you have reached! Thank you for taking the time in your life to give this inspiration and simply, joy, to another human being! Thank you from the very bottom of my heart... Please stay safe, Richard xx
@@PaigeHandmade thank you for replying. I'm making a 1950s style dress in a D&G print Italian cotton. I'll be posting a video of it soon. If you're interested, my channel is called "Wackiwear" Happy sewing!
That is such a sweet video, and so honest. I’ve watched all the other videos in quick succession, and you seem so accomplished and thorough, and then you make THIS video, which is how most of us feel, most of the time - unsure, amazed when things work out, proud of ourselves despite not really being very confident. A lovely dress, a great process, and fascinating. You have such a great, calm presenting style. I watched because I want to know how to line a dress, and you have given me the confidence to try.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the series. Everyone experiences these emotions and it happens over and over. That's how we know we are growing and moving forward. You definitely can do it!
I was searching for videos to make a muslin and found this series.. AMAZING!! I watched the whole series in one sitting and I loved your tips and your dress is gorgeous! The finale video was the BEST.. bravo!
That dress looks so comfortable to wear. You’ve made something that would’ve cost so much more to have it made for you. I’m not familiar with couture costs for a bespoke garment; but the labor costs alone would have been daunting. Your husband must have loved that you made something so lovely with that fabric.
Oh my goodness, what a thing of beauty! Those inner workings are gorgeous too. I hope your great-great granddaughters will have both the dress and these videos! I think some couture books will be on my Xmas list.
I am watching this the end of 2020, I looked at all the vids, it was amazing how exact you explained everything, you are very creative and beautifull girl, your mom must be so proud of you, the dress is a dream. Happy birthday for 2020 and thank you for being such a wonderfull teacher, be blessed.
Hi Paige, I’ve just started learning to sew and stumbled upon your channel. Couldn’t stop watching this couture dress series! Your ending reaction video was so heartwarming. I’m grateful that I’ve decided to take a chance on myself and learn something new I never imagined I’d have the courage to try! Thank you for sharing so generously with us.
The dress is perfect. You are so sweet and your husband is the best. You need to belive in yourself because you're talented. I'm italian and I love whatch your videos. Happy new year!
You and your dress are beautiful! Congratulations on creating a gorgeous garment, especially one that makes you feel amazing and proud! What a gift you have, thank you for sharing!
I'm in tears, Paige. Thank you so much for sharing this video and sharing this journey. You're extremely talented and beautiful and sweet. You deserve this joy! 💕😊
I shared your story today in my sewing class and the girls all had chills. It's very simple videos like this that inspire so many so again thanks for sharing.
WOW! I'm sure that dress could easily go for 2k plus in the shops! Thank you so very much for giving us couture realness. All of that hand sewing and lovely couture touches. I will embark on a similar endeavor using your process at some point!
Hi Paige. I recently came across your couture series and you’ve created a gorgeous gown. I’ve enjoyed learning new techniques. I was extremely happy to hear that you are proud of yourself as I think sometimes we overlook giving credit to ourselves. I am also incredibly grateful for the people in my life and am working on believing in myself a little more. Your raw video had quite an impact, I was in tears too. I really enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for all that you do :)
It looks beautiful! The length came out perfect too… I think it was a fortunate turn of chance. Good for you and thanks! I am learning so much.. awesome!
You’re so inspiring and I now want to learn to sew like you. So much thought, care and love put into a dress! Reminds me of my mum and I wish I had taken lessons with her. Congrats on a wonderful creation! Following you ..xx
I’m here watching youtube and sulking coz of a sewing fail this afternoon.. thank YOU for this video 😍😭 it’s exactly what I need to start again tomorrow. And that dress is worth thousands 🙌👏❤️ thanks for sharing your couture techniques!
I'm so glad I came across your videos, you've inspired me so much I feel like I can do anything right now...such a genuine, heartfelt raw emotional message, thank you very much, you look so beautiful in your perfect dress...you're very gifted dear❤ from South Africa
What a real moment that we have all felt. We then make a choice to give up OR push thru the insecurity, discomfort and uncertainty. That's a lot of emotion to overcome... when we do it brings what you show in this video. Pride in something we have done. Pride might not even be the right word. This emotion is beyond being proud of something. Thank you for such a raw video. I was crying right along with you. The dress is beautiful just like you and it fits like it was made for you :) hehe. Keep pushing yourself! We are inspired in those little things.
I absolutely loved this series and learned so much! I was actually just reading Couture Sewing Techniques and stumbled upon your videos. You had me in tears at the end there. I wholeheartedly agree with you on always learning and improving and creating from the heart. I hope this beautiful dress will see many wonderful events!
wow, i loved the video you shared, really resonated with me. Art really is something so beautiful and you were spot on about being your own student! and such a beautiful dress!!!
This is amazing!! Such an inspiration!! I dream of sewing a dress like that everyday! I just ordered the Couture Techniques book. This video and your message is just so inspiring to me! I just found your channel!!! Thanks for sharing your journey with us!!
Wow! Your 2nd video is so wonderful (I haven't seen any of the videos in this series yet). This could be an inspirational message for anyone and anything because you shared your experience and feelings so honestly. And, I love the emphasis on gratitude .I've had the same fantasy of wearing and making a couture dress - maybe I'll do it! Thank you for sharing this, Paige.
i totally understand you. sewing is so emotional. it's time consuming and expensive. i haven't worked with silk because it's very expensive and i don't want to waste money by using it when i know my sewing can improve more and be more professional. i have pricey fabric in my collection untouched because i'm just so scared of ruining them. but at the same time it makes me sad not using them. honestly i think the best way of sewing is by hand (couture) because it's more precise than machine sewing. :)))) i'm so happy for you. :)
I’ve been reading about a guy called William Morris who started the Arts&Crafts movement kind of in response to the working conditions and environmental damage and ugliness of the industrial revolution. Its sort of a pre curser to art nouveau and I just wanted to find some examples of the lovely patterns for fabric and wallpaper etc that came from this time. Anyway I’ve been sucked into the philosophy around the movement and one of my favorite parts is that this morris guy wanted designers and craftspeople to be connected with the production process of their designs to bring back the feelings of pride that the old master craftspeople must have felt after making one beautiful wooden cabinet or whatever. As opposed to sweatshop workers who are exploited and devalued. I liked this whole cocktail dress series but I love this video - the pride in your work and excellence in your craft are really aspirational and I believe this attitude is the real solution to problems like climate change and many of our society’s issues. Like to only locally buy or make exceptional quality items that you cherish is what we should all aim for whether that’s a seasonal tomato from a farmer’s market or an ambitious and challenging product that you tackle yourself! thanks for sharing the skills and the wholesome content! xA
