Oh well… this does not sound even remotely like Mefjus. I’m not sure where you heard this Mefjus. The workflow also not his at all. He never use wavetables and all his sounds coming from simple waveforms which he later heavily process via busses and he always leave original untouched. He never bounce anything to audio until the very last moment. He also know to use minimum EQ and pretty much never compression. His drums are most of times combination of serum or other drum synth like dumatic and addictive drums.

I just looked at his discography, i forget how many bangers he has XD. Old stuff like gravitational lensing and mythos are tracks i keep getting back to. Clusterfunk is really nice maybe a bit under appreciated (as far as a noisia/hybris collab can be 😂). Suicide bassline i have heard to much. I still dig out of time quite a bit.

Bro youre so good why don’t you have any of your own tunes out ???
@bookingbooking2017
@bookingbooking2017 Год назад
Because this kind of guys know so well how to copying other producers, they can't do their own tunes because of this knowledge. It's a different kind of producer.

I have a few ones out there. Google for Vuxem, and also there are a few dnb tunes under release. I just don't market them because I am an idiot :D

@@bookingbooking2017 being able to reverse engineer and understand the philosophy behind engineering sounds of other professional music does not tunnel vision you into this type of producer. I mean it can though if the individual doesn't have the confidence & struggles with imposter syndrome and other creative blocks. But ultimately this is a trap of getting addicted to understanding other music and it can overpower the desire to experiment with original ideas. But to quote rick ruban (not word for word), being an insanely good producer is essentially the art of stealing and comes from the concept of there is technically no original idea, which ties in nicely to this whole topic of being a producer that replicates. You can utilise what you have learned, from understanding the philosophy of how specific styles of sounds are made as a starting point, change the parameters within the synth or daw, get creative with post processing and utilising chains via various methods, but my favourite is using sends and automation to turn any sound, into a layered beast, specific to your project. Adding on the above paragraph, if you refer to Mefju's Particle Series where he breaks down all his tunes, and I can confirm from watching all of these multiple times, picking apart what he talks about, you can begin to formulate a pathway and workflow that always results in original ideas, despite the source sounds used (which for the sake of this conversation may be a direct replica of a 808bass sound). If you think about it all heavy bass music is sub, gritty mids and some form of high end interest layered with this bass. All music relates to all music and is technically a copy, but its all down to how you use your knowledge and not labeling yourself as this type of producer or that type of producer. We are all artists

Mefjus uses Pro-L, not Pro-L2. He does not use true peak limiting and keeps the gain knob at zero. He also claims to not use any processing on the kick, which I find hard to believe, but he is a true master of his craft. Whatever the case, your tutorials are always very inspiring! ❤
