If you cut some fabric on the bias (diagonal), it should go around curves a lot easier, instead of using ribbon! Or find stretch/bias cut ribbon (or bias tape) and use that instead! The hat is very cool, and I love how the photos turned out! Makes me want to try making a cowboy hat with fringe :D
YOu could try wrapping the material around the hat not draping it. The Material will lay flatter that way. But you'd have to use some type of glue or a glue gun. I think it'd look really cool if you braided it around the top of the hat too. I've done some braided things like those cat pillows with braids. I think it looks really nice.
Looks great. I would do a tester with some material instead of ribbon. Ribbon can be too stiff some fabrics are loose but stiff enough to hold structure.
Thank you!! I gave that some thought and almost cut off a strip of the same fabric to wrap around it. Perhaps I should revisit that. Because that puckered ribbon just won't do.
