Christopher Bill, I would like for your course to include sight-reading. If you could, it would be appreciated!

Brian C. McGuire agreed!

Brian- I'm by no means the best sightreader out there but the most helpful tip I ever received on this topic was to develop the ability to always be reading ONE MEASURE AHEAD of the one I was playing. It sounds odd but if you spend some time doing this intentionally, it starts to become second-nature.
@brianc.mcguire9263

@@nwoods58 Thanks for the tip! An'd I'd like to see Christopher Bill teach sight-reading as I am beginning to understand its importance. It's great when you hit your first high note and all. But, hitting high notes will happen over time. It comes with a lot of practice. I am self taught, basically. And as a knucklehead, I learned to hit high notes first. I thought it was more important... backwards, I know. So, it may be my bias. But, it is very frustrating when I can't play along in groups. That or I have to learn the music before playing along. Now, if you can sight-read, you can play anything, anywhere, and at anytime. In short, you become marketable as a musician. And that's the goal! That's why, I truly value your advice on sight-reading. PS: I am open to any and all advice on my musicianship. So, contact me with any advice anytime. Thanks for listening!!!

@@brianc.mcguire9263 Dear Brain, First of all, I'm sorry for my english... Another thing I would suggest you is to sight read etueds and pieces that are much underlevel for and only when you feel comfortable with that level increase it slowly and keep with that until and beyond the level you want to get to. Also, I heard of a sight reading book by david vining for trombone that looks very good. Good luck!!

OK Chris, a piece you simply must arrange for you and us is “Colors for Trombone” I can’t believe you haven’t done this already, or have you? Yes to the subscription model and this chop builder. Last couple of years I’ve had some heart health issues that stopped me from playing, and new crowns on my front teeth, but now I’m ready to build my embouchure back, but I’m starting with a new feel. So I figure I would grab this range builder and improve on my recent past range. 65 years on trombone, but not dead yet! I played Army Bands from ‘66-‘89. Time to get my chops back once and for all!

Hi Chris(topher?)- I have enjoyed your works ever since I first discovered you via your fun rendition of "Happy". I've been playing bone for 50(!?!) years. I long for those days during my teens when I could be working my chops 6-8 hrs a day. At this point in my life, though, playing opportunities are so infrequent that I need a week or two to regain my facility and endurance before a gig. I would love for you to share any 'shortcuts' you may have discovered or developed to fast- track recovery of cold chops.

Chris, Our son got me hooked on your channel. He is 12 and wants to have every note perfect. While I am musically inclined, I do not play an instrument but my husband played Trombone in HS, College and in a band after college. I can't wait to see this video because we always tell him to slow down, learn that part/note, get comfortable with it.

Hey Chris, I would really love and appreciate it if you could do a course/video series on tonguing/articulations as it's a skill that me and my section mates really struggle with in band. Really love that you're doing these courses :))

What you said about playing these notes every day is very true. Personally, my range has only ever increased when I need it for whatever it is I’m playing.

A yearly subscription would be great! Also, a great course idea I think would be maintaining clarity through technical passages. I find it hard in my personal practice to work on maintaining clarity in more and more technical passages without having passages to work through

Chris, the course looks awesome. Any news on your custom trombones? Also, can you play the intermediate course without a trigger trombone? Thank you
@classicaltrombone
@classicaltrombone 4 года назад
I just got a call that they finished the custom! I'll be flying down to Kansas City in a couple weeks to pick it up and I'll vlog the whole thing. I haven't seen it yet! And you can do up to Level 7 without a trigger and then you'll need an F Attachment for the low studies, but you can still work on the high range pieces all the way through!
