Those gum containers are famous in tabletop crafting circles. Most of us make generators out of them, since they look kind of like the field generators from Empire Strikes Back (Hoth battle). Makes a great robot. Very nice.
To my understanding, this is pretty much how most of the Sci-Fi designs in Star Wars and Star Trek were made- kitbashing random kits and bits together. When you consider that, I could really imagine your works being featured in Hollywood movies, among the most iconic designs!
You give me so much inspiration! To take something normally seen as garbage and turn it into a fun, creative, beautiful piece of art. Please keep creating! I want to keep watching these.
Fantastic results! I’m inspired. On the base … I would have brushed on a layer of PVA or Mod Podge on the wood. Let it dry. Then, when it’s time to put on the spackle, or air dry clay, just put a drop (or two) of water to reactivate the contact surface, spread with finger to make it slightly tacky. Then apply the putty/clay, spread it out and proceed as normal.
3:38 - just in case you didn't know, the reason the tamiya doesnt stick them to the hubbabubba container is because the tamiya isnt actually a "glue" its a styrene solvent, it works by melting polystyrene based plastic and then evaporating leaving the plastic welded together. The pink container isnt styrene based so it won't work with it, you have to use something like superglue which is an actual glue
The Hulky , Bulky .. Chunky legs are the highlights..overall it’s simply amazing to see how a normal bubble gum box turns out into a futuristic War Bot 👌🏼🤩
I was watching this video, and my 8yo step daughter came in and said, " that looks like a gum case." I said it was, and she was in awe at what it looked like now. I have to say I share her sentiment . Awesome vision and execution!
Great looking robot!! The bro with the best intro on RU-vid! The color choice was great! I've got one of those containers, but mine is gonna be for an Aliens diorama.
I haven't seen those containers since the 90's, that really brings me back! Great build, i need to find me some of these too. I feel like this could also make for a fun spaceship or drop pod build, that square part could make for a fun little window for the pilot to look trough and if you pop it open you could make some nice internal detailing into the container itself to look at as an easter egg. Imagine if we were allowed to break down our toys and knew we could make our own with the parts back when we were kids. Sid from Toy Story wasn't a bad guy, he was a visionary!
I got the gum at Walmart, it was like $2. It would be amazing to go back in time if we knew what we know know, we would be the coolest kids on the playground!
This is by far my favorite build you have done! It just looks so cool. The green paint makes it look like a futuristic military weapon and the light just sets off the whole model. Thanks for sharing this neat build.
I literally found one of those containers this morning and thought "mini space ship".. it makes a sweet bot... you can make a great modeling "clay" with tissue and acrylic paint, it drys to a hard plastic liked material. its a variation of poor mans fiberglass
I have watched all of your videos now and have been patiently waiting for this video. I wish you could post a couple a week, but I understand the challenges of life. I reckon this is a beautie! You have so much skill and imagination. I love your creativity and laid-back style. Thank you. (Now waiting for the next one!) 😀
Wow! Thanks so much and sorry for some of the earlier videos that were a little rough!😂 I’m currently in CA helping out my sister so I’m hoping to get another video up in two weeks.😬
I totally loved your work, it was really cool and was very like to the dystopian concept of machine warfare, your art reminded me of the game Metal Slug too. In my opinion I would remain only put some yellow bands on the back of the robot, at the place of tank, behind the machine, so it would seem it carrying the fuel (like the danger bands on Monsters S.A screaming cylinders).
I've said it before and I'll say it again you never fail to amaze me. I'd have to say now this is probably one of my top three favorites of what you've done. I totally love this machine-bot. It is so very very cool and awesome. Just a thought on the base when you put the putty on maybe it would go on easier if you scratched the top up first with a wire brush or something like that, I don't know for sure if it would work but it might give a rougher surface to stick to.
Hey Dr. Toys, you ever considered creating your own custom scratch built army with the stuff you use for an agnostic tabletop minature game or rpg games? Love to see you come up with something.👍
So I have never really got into rpg gaming… I don’t know if I have the patience, UNO take to long for me.😂 That being said I love looking at all of the mini figurines, the details is insane!
Rocks aren't grey. The basic minerals might be, but they're going to be influenced by the surrounding ground, either because they are made from the same minerals as the surrounding sand, or because they've gotten dirty or dusted by the surrounding soil over time. Grey rocks appear more in high elevations or areas of dense vegetation.
In case you haven't noticed it looks like an NR-N99 Tank Droid from the Battle of Kashyyyk. Except as a walker. I could definitely see this in star wars lore. Great Build! My last comment you liked about machines on a wookie planet 😂 smh.. couldn't think lastnight.
Hey Toy Nerd i was thinking how cool it would be if you could do a short stop motion animation of a number of your awesome builds in action. Maybe have two or three separate factions against one another, sort of like a space battle if you will and maybe some ground action as well. I know this idea would be an enormous endeavor but I believe seeing your builds animated and in action would be insanely great. They do deserve this treatment. Anyway, I was just throwing out the idea. Let me know what you think. Take care...
I love that! I have so many projects going right now that most of my friends think I’m crazy! It would be totally cool if a stop motion animator reached out to me and take my character and make something amazing.😃
