I miss the old internet, I don't mean internet from 90s, but internet from like 2005-2010 was the best, everything had good GUI, it was easy to use and it was fast. Today internet is so slow. When I imagine what we could do in the internet with 2005 hardware back in the day....try it now on the same HW, even if you find some internet browser which still works, it will be so slow with today websites.
@@TheEricExperiment All websites look the same today and everything looks like it's designed for vertical screen and touch, I think there should be always separated desktop and mobile version of websites if it's possible. Typical example of this crazy evolution is facebook, it looked good few years ago, now it look the same as andorid app even on PC in browser, I just don't get it why they do that.
You, my man, solved my entire problem with a veeeeeery specific search I was getting trouble finding it. A shame this one isn't as famous as the others...
Yes…it was. No scroll wheels AND the mouse is connected to the computer with a cable - so you’re constantly readjusting the mouse on the desk and flipping the cable out of the way when you do it.
This is....Wow. I'm moved. This is the most beautiful labor of love I've seen in terms of development projects. I wanted to do something like this a few years ago but was daunted by the challenges, wasn't sure how to go about it. And here you are and you just went and did it and it is a thing of beauty my friend. Is the code not open-source?
Thank you so much, I'm really glad you like it! It's one of the things I'm most proud of! The code isn't open source, I might do it in the future but I don't really plan on doing it anytime soon.
I just realized that I will never be bored again. This is an amazing project and look forward to seeing how it turns out in the years forward. Great Job!
Awesome project, mate! I have to say I'm a little nostalgic of this era... I was searching for spanish-language sites from the Dominican Republic. I found them and it was great! Thank you!
This is absolutely incredible. Might have to connect some of my retro PCs to the internet now to browse these more authentically. Thanks for your hard work on this
The site may need some touch-up puting search results in spanish, as the spider may have missed these characters: á, é, í, ó, ú. But it's ok, a spanish-speaker can read the results and the pages. I'm a spanish native speaker, so I can help you correcting the pages... Anyhow, it's a great project!!!
@@TheEricExperiment The accents seem to be replaced with weird characters indeed. If you search "dominicanos" and click in the first result of the list which is ¨Para los dominicanos", the name República Dominicana, seems to be replaced with Repblica D... So the accents seem to be replace with a weird coding... Eu também falo um pouco de português, mais meu português e muito ruin :P
Hi Eric, really love your stuff, I'm starting a tech related channel called Al's RetroGarbage (I'm not calling OldaVista garbage by the way, I just picked that name because most of my hardware is discarded stuff) and I was wondering if you would allow me to use footage of this video and to feature OldaVista in some of my videos? Obviously, full credit given, in video and the description, I'd credit you using your channel URL and your website URL, is that fine too? Anyhow, back to binging your videos, thanks in advance :)
