Just made this for dinner tonight and finished devouring it! It’s honestly the best tasting vegan recipe I’ve ever put in my mouth. My guest did not believe it was a vegan meal! That mushroom mince recipe is phenomenal!!!!!!!!! This is going to be my ‘recipe to impress’ whenever I have people denying vegan meals can be delicious! BRAVO! Thank you for sharing!
Cracked me up when the first sour cream didn't work and you put your hair up. That's when it gets real. Haha. Thanks for showing us how you problem solve. Liked the laughs.
Thank GOD I subscribed! I live in Guatemala with very limited store bought vegan food. BUT - you have motivated me to hunt down these ingredients. We made this yesterday and I am STILL feeling so happy about it, it was beyond amazing!!! You are doing the Earth such a service, and we thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Two things: 1. We LOVE seeing Max!!! 2. I love seeing the process of how you try to create a recipe! I would love to see more raw video content like this!
Thank you Trent! I will send 1) along to Max :) And I'm so glad you enjoyed watching the recipe process and there will definitely more of this in the future!
I really enjoyed that you see some things don't work out as planned. I guess everyone makes this experience while cooking and it's nice to see that it's just normal...
Definitely making this! Love how you were so honest in your video and kept in the part about the Tofu sour cream and your facial expression was priceless. Not all vegan recipes are a success. Nice to see your failures too! Note to self....I will not be trying that sour cream recipe anytime soon! LOL!
Hi Karen! You are so sweet :) The tofu sour cream was not salvageable lol. And you're right! Not every recipe is a success, there are definitely some failures along the way!
Gonna try to make this with my Family ..not vegans , but I have lots of food sesnestivity issues 😋 Thanks look So yummy..I'M DEFINITELY Fan for Clean eating healthy habits...thanks 😊
Another amazing video. Also for anyone who’s deciding on whether to get her cookbook, DO IT. It’s amazing. I’ve made at least 10 different recipes and they all turned out fantastic (something I can’t say with other cookbooks/recipe blogs). The Tofu Tikka Masala is probably my favourite, but the vegan queso is like liquid gold. I honestly never thought I’d make my dad and sisters like tofu or beans this much
Hi Adan! How sweet are you! I am so grateful for your support and so happy you and your family enjoy my cookbook so much. That's such lovely feedback to hear :)
Unfortunately, I have to disagree. Of the four recipes I've made so far, three wound up in the garbage. The cauliflower with millet, for example, had the texture of concrete.
11:47. I’ve tried other vegan sour creams and almost gagged on them. Tofutti is by far the best, the closest to regular sour cream. (I’m Jewish; I grew up on sour cream, so let’s say I’m a maven on the stuff.)
This is the first time I've ever made a comment on a RU-vid video, but oh my goodness - this recipe is soooo delicious! I first made it almost a week ago and I've made it everyday since! I ran out of tortillas today so just added the taco "meat", nacho sauce, and some salsa to some rice and a salad and it was delish! Nisha - you have an amazing talent for coming up with fantastic recipes! Thanks so much for sharing them with the rest of us!!
I can’t believe this video is only 17 minutes long. It took me about 2 hours to make this! And I used store bought dairy free sour cream and guacamole. The cheese and meat substitute alone was a real chore. I would have been really P!$$ed if it didn’t turn out good after all that work! It was, thankfully, better than good. It’s great! 😅 Next time I will double the meat recipe so I can have more later. There is plenty of the cheese, but I am going to wish I had more meat leftover tomorrow.
I really appreciate you showing that the first version of the vegan sour cream that didn't work. It's helpful to know what doesn't work when trying to come up with recipes on the spot!
You’re so resourceful and creative! I loved seeing your thought process when coming up with alternatives and working on flavours. My favourite vegan chef!
Got a thought on your taco meat: take a chunk of tofu, dry it with towels between plates for a thorough drying. Then stick the tofu in the freezer until it's frozen solid. Take it out & let it thaw, then dry it thoroughly. It should crumble with the consistency like hamburger. You can soak it in braggs, or soy sauce (or really lots of stuff), and fry away. It makes a mean sloppy joe - might work for tacos. Love the recipes!
This looks so delicious, Taco Bell used to be one of my weaknesses.🌮 I'd probably take the easier route and get vegan sour cream and a "meat" crumble from the store. Haha. 🤷♀️
Definitely! I'm sure it's delicious that way too :) I actually bought some soyrizo to keep in my fridge so I can make these whenever Max asks me on a whim to make these and I don't have as much time lol.
@@asteroth1986 Ha! I literally clicked "reply" to leave the exact same comment as you. The ground Beyond Burger with taco seasoning is sooooo good. Unbeatably so.
@@asteroth1986 lol I was just thinking this while watching the video, why not just buy some impossible or beyond fake meat and mix it with taco seasoning, way faster
I just made this and it was insanely good!!! My vegan family hasn't had cheese this good in ages, and the entire meal came together so well.. thank you!!!!
hey there - my mother, of all people - taught me this trick for faux hamburger meat - and it's brilliant! : simply freeze a block of firm tofu until its rock hard, then thaw it. once tofu has been frozen solid and then thawed it literally takes on the texture of a sink sponge. squeeze the water out - like a sponge! - and simply tear it up into bits, add flavoring, like taco seasoning, and sneak it right on in for hamburger. as long as it has a seasoning, or is in a sauce, like a tomato meat sauce, you will not be able to tell the difference. cheers! libby
I just subscribed to your channel. Both of you guys are very entertaining. I love watching little mishaps. The Crunchwrap looks delicious. I been wanting to became vegan for a long time. This recipe will definitely help.
DUDE how did I JUST find your channel?? You are an absolute joy to watch. And your food looks so yummy! :) New subscriber over here. Thank you for your humor, authenticity and fun recipes! I hope to try this soon!
There is a vegan ground beef alternative available that tastes amazing when processed with other ingredients. I’ll try your take on it! Looks amazing, Djeezes!
Love seeing the whole experimentation process including the failed attempts. (and that 'what was I going to do with the food processor' is literally me in the kitchen)
I made this with my husband this evening. If I did make witit was vegan. h my own hands, I would have not believed that it was vegan. This was the best vegan meal I’ve EVER made. I’ll definitely be making this again!
You are amazingly creative and it’s always enlightening watching you prepare a meal....We try and emulate you with our creativity in the kitchen. Thanks for being an inspiration. Max...We want to see you more often 🙃
I made these last week and they were amazing. My kids even loved them and they don't always love my vegan food. Thanks for the recipe. By the way, I made everything per the recipes but the sour cream. For that I used Forager sour cream.
The good thing is I was raised vegetarian and now I m vegan I have never even tasted meat , so whenever a vegan food channel say it will taste like meat I m like I just want it to be good not meaty
So yummy! It seems like a lot of work at first, but it's really not too bad. And let me tell you, it was WELL WORTH IT. My husband is a die hard carnivore and very skeptical of all my vegan recipes. But he DEVOURED this and kept saying how good it was!! Thanks Nisha, you knocked it out of the park with this one. My husband was happy to hear I'll be making this one again. 😄
If you have trouble finding vegan sour cream but can find other dairy substitute items, The Miyoko’s ‘cream cheese’ tastes exactly like sour cream, minus the texture. I’d take that and thin it out with some plant based milk and veganaise to give it the richness it should have to replicate sour cream. Miyoko’s is cultured so it really has the correct tangy flavor.
Oh girl this was the best video! I've seen many vegan crunchwraps and none of them come close to yours! Looks so good! Also the constant yelling at Alexa happens daily in our house LOL
This is AWESOME! I made these tonight and we LOVED the cheese sauce! I traded out the cashews (cause Dolla Bills, Yall!) for a drained can of white beans and omitted the 2 TBS water and PERFECTION!
That sour cream final recipe is GOAT!!! Listen people, do not buy a store brand if you have access and funds to buy the ingredients to make from scratch. Makes Tofutti taste like white clay. It’s such a good base that you can add onion power and maybe nutritional yeast to it to make it a Queso or cream cheese once done using it as sour cream. I regularly return to this recipe even when not making the wrap!
You should;ve recreated the vegetarian crunchwrap, Since black bean might be easier than fake meat. Idk maybe I am just biased since I have been vegetarian my whole life
Vegan virgin here. (1 month) This recipe was amazing. To simplify I replaced the "meat" with a mix of black and pinto beans and omitted the sour cream.
😍 I love how you showed the process of developing a recipe and stumbling along the way! Pretty rare to see that captured in a recipe video, but it was so great to see! Love your videos! Will have to pick up your cookbooks as well ❤️
I adore how you processed the ingredients list with us as you went. Trying to get the meaty flavor is what I’m always looking to mimic. Just umami is something difficult for me. Love watching!!
This is so gosh dang good. I think it's my favorite recipe period. I have made some adjustments for my preferences. I make my own tortillas. I added a roasted tomato salsa. And I use Jill's Game Changer Nacho cheese sauce instead. Her sour cream recipe here is great, tho it does taste like ranch! It's a brilliant ranch recipe. Works really well in the crunch wrap. I think I can make this NO FASTER than 2 hours given my changes (the tortillas take a fair amount of time to make), but that's hustling and hyperfocused, multiple things going at once. A little slower and it takes 2.5 hrs. The first time I made it, it took me EIGHT HOURS. Lmao. But it's sooooo good.
Love seeing the process of coming up with brand new ideas of how to make things work. Novice cooks take note - it’s all just trial and error! Sometimes you get terrible tofu sour cream, and sometimes you get a meat eater to request your recipe twice a week
Looks delicious! I'll have to replace the walnuts with crumbling up medium-firm Tofu then baking it to use as my "meat" substitute, and probably make a batch of vegan sour cream using soy milk and lemon juice. I'm excited to make this plant based version, as I've never had a Taco Bell crunch wrap. Thanks for sharing!
Mmmm. Making this! How did the wrap with the tofutti work? I loved that you included the silken tofu fail, makes it more relatable than a perfect polished product.
Yay! Happy to hear that :) They were both so tasty! Honestly, couldn't tell the difference between the two since there are so many other flavors going on in the crunchwrap!
I can't wait to make this! I'd love to see you make a "guac" with chickpeas!!! I saw on "Diners and Drive-ins" a vegan restaurant made it and it looked A-mazing. Apparently there's an issue in Mexico with extortion with avocado farmers and how there needs to be fair trade labels because of what is going on. I had no idea!
I saw that episode too! My dad is obsessed with Guy Fieri so he has sent me that episode at least twice lol. I hadn't realized that about avocados, I will look into it!
This looks phenomenal 😊we don’t have Taco Bells in the UK so I’ve never had one of theirs but this is hands down one of the nicest things I’ve ever seen. Don’t know if I can bring myself to make it though, so many ingredients lol. If there’s anyone in Northern Ireland who would like to invite me for dinner with these I’m there 😊❤️
Yum looks delicious i am making this soon will make this with few subs saw this recipe few mins ago on my computer drooling over my samsung galaxy note 8 love your recipes making me hungry Thanks Ramya
Yummy recipes Di looking forward to seeing your videos everyday god bless you always may all your dreams come true love you always ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️please be safe
@@RainbowPlantLife Looks delicious, as usual. I like how you were authentic and got experimental in front of the camera, especially with the silken tofu debacle. The realness is appreciated. Thank you, might give this recipe a shot for date night.
I see the Alexa struggle is still real XD These were amazing though. My boyfriend used to work at Taco Bell and very much approved of them. The recipe makes so much, I'm pretty sure this will be dinner for the rest of the week, but no complaints here!
Lol I think she loses her sense of hearing over time. I'm so glad you made them and you and your boyfriend enjoyed them. So great to get approval from someone who's very familiar with the original crunchwrap too!
I never tried anything at Taco Bell’s before and only had fast food a handful of times growing up, but this wrap is way way way better than any fast foods and not complicated to make at home too! 🤤 I can see why Max wants this twice a week ☺️
I love watching food Tubers talk about fast food, as though it is beneath them.😂 Also, TVP is a MUCH better alternative for the taco, "meat" texture and Taco Bell uses it to stretch the meat they use.
