I made All in One PC - From a broken Laptop

Hi everyone, thank you for 22:43 of your time. In this video I transform HP Pavilion into a All in one PC. I done this because cost of the repair will cost same as getting another one. Also this project was on a very budget, i spend about $16 for the display, about $8 for the serving tray and about $2.50 for the metal brackets and the screws. The upgrade parts my friend brings me.

Instead of a Gaming Laptop, make a 'Lugable' or Briefcase computer. Like the old original Compac computers. You will be able to make it cheaper and a better Portable Gaming PC. More standard parts and widely available sound and video cards. (any cards that will fit into a common Mini-ATX case.)

For my experience after 1 year using gaming laptop, not really worth in a long-term although i found out that mobility accesses is limited.

Here in philippines many businessman engage in second hand selling of computers and laptops. They used to buy defective computers and fix it and upgrade it and sell it. Hope you will sell fix computers online like a second hand computers.

I've been looking for the specs of this laptop in the comments and actually, the Acer Aspire E15 E5-571-5930 has the same i5 5200U and Intel HD 5500 Graphics! It's 5 years old now and replaces my 2018 (bought 2019) Acer Aspire TC-885 that froze and when I turned it off and on it boot loops so on and off and on and so on until you remove power. :(

In case, Did you meant workstation? super computers were made for running parallel processes not daily software usage nor gaming and workstations are made specialized for something, such as bioinformatics, human-computer interaction, gaming, programming and etc...

4:28 "easy to change" - usually only requires you to disassemble the whole laptop first. But hey true, they are easy to change. The stand design is pretty cool though.

Yeah, this is a HP 17-p model laptop. I know this because I have a similar looking laptop, which is a HP 15-p. The P series of HP laptops are well known for their difficult disassembly - a RAM upgrade requires complete disassembly.

I'm sure you've learned this by now, but incase someone watches this... two sided tape is your friend if you aren't going to fabricate proper brackets. 3m makes a tape that literally holds your car molding on your car.

Great re-use of what was an almost totally destroyed laptop. Only thing I would have said is to add a second hard drive (in place of the old DVD drive) since 240GB isn't much.

I really do like yuor videos but i have a few suggestions for next builds. 1) Next time you can get either a thermal pipe or some small heatsinks and use thermal glue to attach them to the laptop heatsink. This is possible because there is a lot more space in the new case. 2) You should use more screws, even the shorter ones to furhter support the brackets. This will make the case last longer in case the wood expands because of temperature changes etc. \ Good luck!

You failed to mention that some laptop won't post without keyboard attached. Some won't boot without panel attached (well, it needs the connector actually). There is a reason why not so many people do this.

You are a good carpenter Nothing you have said about power supply and battery Bypass. And display driver too. Any lcd panel will work or of the same company.
