This “[subject] in x minutes” format is what attracted me to your channel. Seems like other golf channels are hitting that hour mark too often these days. Keep ‘em coming.
Putting on the back 9 was unreal, you’re a two putt machine. Really made me realise how valuable lag putting is, I need to practice it more (or at all)
Just wanted to say thanks for your channel in helping me on my golfing journey. A big part of my inability to get to a lower handicap has always been an underlying belief that I just wasn't good enough. However, your channel has helped show me that by playing smarter, embracing my swing, and believing that I can string good holes together to post a low score have stopped my self sabotage and improved my confidence. Now down to a 10.8 handicap on the verge of getting to single digits and breaking 80 for the first time. Thank you!
Thanks! I find the driver distance topic funny. Lots of guys out there who think they hit it 300 but don't. In "normal" conditions (i.e. flat ground at sea level, where I typically play), I hit a good drive ~250. But on firm fairways in the heat in the desert, lots can roll out to 300+. But I'm under no delusion that I actually hit the ball 300.
Great Round! I love your course logs. Calm, thoughtful, humble and easy to follow. I’ve learned a lot of course management from you. Don’t change your model for content. It helps me unwind after a long day and gets me excited for my next round. Thanks
Thank you! Yes it's always nice to drop an eagle. Not too many of those each season! My driver swing is feeling good lately although some of the big distances in this round were certainly due to conditions.
You are an elite putter. Don't let anyone change that stroke, even if they are a plus handicap. Back in the day, you would be able to hustle for alot of cash. Show up for the $100 buy in skin games or the $100 nassau😊
Congrats to you Adam because I have been watching for over a year and your golf swing ( ie: All clubs ) has greaty improved. Your hard work has paid off.
This has to be the best round you've put together in a long time. I think your only bad holes were 9 and 10 (and only 10 because of the water), and just dealing with some slow greens. When you're on fire, you're on fire 🔥
Thanks! It was my third best differential of the season. The best was the 66 at O'Donnell (also on the channel) and 2nd best was a really tidy 74 at Fraserview in Vancouver which unfortunately I didn't film :(
Haha there are always commenters who accuse me (and other YT golfers) of cheating if the ball moves a millimeter between putts. To avoid the inevitable back and forth, I've just started including some clips when I mark the ball so that people don't complain.
Thanks! I don't know if there's anything in particular I focus on. I will say I like the look of my new irons (Sub 70 659 CBs) more than my old PXG Gen 4 XPs. Sometimes looking down on something that suits your eye helps you put a more confident swing on the ball!
That's what I call a real good day in the office for you. Awesome round. I'm curious have you just decided to play your alignment to the right? I notice in your videos it goes and then creeps back in on your drives. You had a lot working for you this round. Love the videos when you talk out your strategy and Goldfish memory your bad shots.
Dannnnng where did these drives start coming from? Were those some 290-300yd drives I spotted? Whew! Couple those with your short game, no wonder you shot 75 today!
I've commented elsewhere that conditions can really affect things. I am definitely hitting driver better lately, but in normal conditions I still only hit it ~250. Playing on firm fairways in the heat in the desert definitely adds some yards!
It's funny, I've historically struggle to take something off of a club. I switched to new irons recently and something about them (don't know if it's the more blade-y club head, the swing weight, or something else) allows me to add/subtract yardage from clubs more easily than previously. I couldn't tell you exactly what my swing thought is when doing it. Kind of a feel thing.
Good for you Adam! So happy for you. How many rounds do you play a week? I have been playing once a week, and don’t think it’s enough to improve. Still can’t get under 90. Have to say that this year I played more than the last 10 years combined. Just retired FYI
It was fun to try to guess which hole you got the eagle on. Although the likely answer was a par 5, I was certainly hoping for a par 4 dunk. Great round!
I'm honestly surprised your hdcp isn't lower with how awesome your short game is. Is it safe to assume this is mostly due to playing so many different and difficult courses on a regular basis?
Definitely. The fact that in a lot of these videos he’s playing a course for the first time is very impressive. Most lower caps play their home course most of the time.
Thanks! Eh, I think the ceiling of my swing is realistically a 5-ish cap, which it often flirts with before fluctuating back up between 6-9 throughout the season. I don't like making excuses, but yes, I think the unfamiliarity that comes with constantly playing new courses definitely impedes my ability to consistently go low. But I genuinely enjoy getting to golf at so many great places. I enjoy being on the course more than I enjoy chasing scoring goals.
Thanks! I don't practice much anymore if I'm honest. I did spend a couple of years putting on a mat most evenings. I love reading greens and tend to start the ball on my intended line more often than not. And, whenever possible, I hit a few warmup puts before playing to try to gauge green speeds.
Great round! Which ball do you use mostly? I’ve seen you play the Srixon divide (half and half colours). I actually like those quite a bit as they allow you to see spin on shots and how your ball rolls on a green
I used to use the Callaway Truvis balls for the same reason and think about going back to it. Right now I play a Pro V (numbered 66 after my hero!) which admittedly is an unnecessarily expensive exercise. I try to justify it to myself by telling myself I don't lose too many :p
@@NotAScratchGolfer Do you find you play better with prov1’s? I wonder if they help or hurt my game at times (heard a certain swing speed is best for them usually). Never been fitted for balls, just play anything medium quality and above basically
A few days ago I uploaded a round from this same course and tried to include every bit of on-course narration possible (it stretched out to almost 30 mins). I figured I'd change it up for people who like the shorter ones. But I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time! Appreciate the feedback. Good to know what people like/dislike!
Hi Adam, no hate just curious, on hole 7, your drive went nearly 310, and you usually say you’re 240-260. Seeing the hole looked slightly uphill and doesn’t look windy, did you step on the one or have you been working on distance?
Lol people sometimes complain if they see a ball move and insist that I'm retaking shots. So sometimes I'll leave the clip in to remind people that sometimes we actually have to mark the ball out there, lol. And yeah, put the wedge away before moving the mark back.
Yeah. I published a vid at this same course a week or so ago and included all of the on-course commentary. It was my longest vid ever at ~30 mins. I figured I'd mix it up with a minimalist one as I know some people prefer a tight edit.
224 out of fairway bunker is not a total irrelevant number, you should be laying up to a number you are comfortable with instead of ending up hitting a backed off 140 club from 122 on your next shot
@@NotAScratchGolfer ahhh I was there the 22nd! Shot an 82. Fun track, greens are super slow. If I wasn’t headed to Sacramento for a week and I’d say let’s do a fan video! Goose Creek out here in Jurupa would surprise you I think! Southern Californians little gem 💎
