For anyone else like me who struggled with these kinds of pockets like me "Household Sewing" by Bertha Banner has a section that explains how to make these pockets. Banner says you need to box pleat the very top of the pocket which will make it lay flat on at the top. Its pretty clear for being an instruction manual from this time. The instructions are from page 151 to 153 in the skirt section. The great thing is this is a free resource on archive.org!
The skirt is beautiful. The reveal was lovely as I could hear the birds and enjoy the beauty of nature. It was the perfect place for the reveal. Also, those 2 little cuties are having such fun on your sewing adventures. Everything is interesting for them, I love to see happy animals being cared for by loving pet parents. Thank you

I could be 100% wrong but i believe you've misinterpreted the pocket in cathy's video. I understood it to be a flat pocket, but i am not challenging your reasoning because I'm having a hard time imaging how my pocket version connects to the skirt.
I thought it was a flat pocket too at first. Cathy doesn’t go into great detail on the pockets in her video, but I’m pretty sure this is how they were done. If you try them and find a way to make them lay completely flat I’d love to see!
