More Historical Chinese clothing! Seriously Hanfu is so much fun to make and wear. Ive started history bounding with these pieces along with Victorian and Edwardian era colonizer clothing. These layers of historical dress are so important even though they're often overlooked. but omg they are so cute and comfortable (and size adjustable) and ethereal? I really do love the look that both these pieces have. I hope you enjoy the video!

Whats your loungewear?
@jackiejames4551
@jackiejames4551 2 года назад
My preferred lounge wear is flannel. Warm and comfy.

My go-to loungewear in the colder months is multiple layers of 18th century style flannel petticoats, and a flannel shirt on top. Flannel is so soft and warm, I love it for winter. And flannel petticoats are warmer than jeans for me.

18th Century style chemise, but in fun prints, is my preferred 'house dress'. I just got some beautiful Michael Miller cotton in black with glow in the dark stars!!!!! It's so light and silky feeling, perfect for scary imminent Australian Summer.

I wear a lot of flannel in my lounge wear, but as I transition to a more historical wardrobe, there's more and more soft coton petticoat and very basic, sturdy walking skirts. Basically what would have been considered work clothes. Mostly because I am more inclined to wear working class, functional for daily wear clothes, than the fancy, rich people versions of them because they'd feel more like cosplay. (they're lovely, dont get me wrong, and I might make me a gown someday for Christmas and parties, but I'm more of a sit cross legged on the floor with the cat kind of gal) This was lovely. It did look very comfy. Perhaps the length would need to be reduced a bit if one needs it to be more functional but I can imagine that being a daily garment for sure. When you say it was the commonly middle layer, when worn out, would it have shown at all, or do you think it was entirely covered by over clothes? 🤔

Me, watching this: hold on! Matrix glitch. Two cats! Two cats! Later: on dear, now she's possessed by the cat. Get down from the roof! You do not have four paws and nine lives!

That's a cool connection that your sewing machine's previous owner had the same name as you! Also I think the historical accuracy of any garment is enhanced by having a cat be in the way while you are trying to make it because I struggle to imagine a person making these 1000 years ago not having to shoo the cat away a few times.

Wow!!!! The reveal at the end was so beautifully shot! It really showcased how the garments moved and the bright white against the natural greens and reds was really *chef's kiss*

A wrap skirt combined with a wrap top strikes me as perfect for someone with variable measurements! This looks so comfortable and elegant; you must have felt wonderful wearing it, and you look great in it, too!

My loungewear is definitely knited sweaters and long skirts 😊 I just found your channel and if I could wish for something in coming videos it's that your voice is the louder and the background noises like the music and the sewing machine are lower in volume. I do have a partial defnes on one ear and I realy want to hear what you say ❤ "Ther is so lite resources from this time"; me, you got such a treasure trove of pictures! Laughing at myself, I trying to recreate historical viking clothing from fragments and depictions of roughly 1-5cm high. Wonderful work, thanks for posting this. It made my morning so much better and I look forward to looking at your other videos 😄 ☕

Great sewing re-creation project. And to think that the original pieces were entirely sewn by hand - gives one even more appreciate for the clothing of the past. Thanks for sharing your creation!

The reveal was EPIC! 100000% agree on long, cinematic reveals! I think because the pieces were white, the stark contrast between you and your environment was as if you had stepped through time to us. I really enjoyed this video

The garments are lovely. I enjoyed the bit of history you added to the video, but not the roof walking, that was scary. Did you use drones to film the aerial shots? They are amazing.

Hi Ora, i love your videos and your energy, I came across your channel when doing research to make my own Hanfu for the coming Chinese New Year. Wanted to ask if it's okay, how much fabric did you use for this set? Frm my understanding, since the shirt is essentially a long piece sewn together at the sides, you'd need quite a length of fabric

Absolutely. The reason i didnt show it in this video is because i couldn’t find the tank top part of the garments that are supposed to be under this layer 🤦🏻 but i will definitely have to show how these layers go on at some point

The outfit looks so comfortable and well-made, but how did you keep it clean for all those reveal shots?! Or is it just me who's incapable of keeping light coloured clothing clean?
@Ora_Lin
@Ora_Lin 2 года назад
That’s a good question, the answer is I didn’t wear it before shooting the reveal. Just tried it in for a few minutes to check the fit and that was it
